Bush drops reference to 'Islamic fascists'
STATE DEPARTMENT
President Bush has avoided repetition of a term that angered Muslims.
Responding last week to the foiling of an alleged plot to blow up flights between Britain and the United States, Bush said, "This nation is at war with Islamic fascists."
That triggered immediate objections from the Council of American-Islamic Relations, and another objection today from the government of Saudi Arabia.
In a statement after its weekly meeting, the Saudi Cabinet "warned against labeling Muslims with accusations of terrorism and fascism."
Bush didn't repeat the reference to "Islamic fascists" at the State Department today, referring instead to "individuals that would like to kill innocent Americans to achieve political objectives."

It's not the first time you used it, Dubya. Suck it up, and keep using it.
CAIR whines and PC strikes again.
(No more Olmert! No more Kadima! No more Oslo!)
IslamoCommies.
Council of American-Islamic Relations = Crazy Ass Islamic Radicals
So he doesn't use in every speech and so it's dropped? LOL
Hey didn't we coin that phrase here on FR?
Yeah, he may not use it everytime, but he has used it before, and I have a feeling he'll use it again.
Sand Nazis..
Land of the free? I don't think so...
One day a President gives a speech and says a word. A few days later he gives another speech somewhere else, in another context, and that word isn't in the second speech.
AP headline is that Bush "drops reference to" that word.
It's a different speech! Not all speeches will contain the same words. It's not news when they don't. Also, using a word in speech #1 but not in speech #2 doesn't mean he has "dropped" reference to that word. It can always show up again in speeches #3, #4, etc... The AP seems not to be aware of this basic fact.
Not...
Attention Muslims worldwide...Islamic Fascists...Islamic Fascists...Islamic Fascists...Islamic Fascists...Islamic Fascists...
I saw him say that on TV. He stuttered and hemmed & hawed like he had a gun in his back.
I always thought it was a redundant term anyway.
Democrats are traitors,
and Republican politicians are gutless. They would rather sell the country down the river than be accused of being insensitive or mean.
They must use saltpeter in the Capitol water softeners.
I am going to a mandated teacher workshop entitled "Undoing Racism" in a few hours. Can't wait!
Yup. Stupid, indeed. More AP wishful-thinking and Bush-bashing.
"President Bush has avoided repetition of a term that angered Muslims."
The media can make every nonstory into a story. He says something, and they make that a story. The next day, he doesn't say the same thing, and they run a story stating that he "avoided repetition" of the earlier statement.
These guys are so laughable.
He won't. President "Religion of Peace" Bush has backed down before, for instance from using the word "crusade."
"Islam isn't in America to be equal to any other faith, but to become dominant. The Qur'an should be the highest authority in America, and Islam the only accepted religion on earth"

If you can't even have the courage to call it by name, how are you going to combat it around the world ???
"How ridiculous that anybody would object to that phrase."
I can understand that many people might object to that phrase, especially Islamic fascists.
What I find ridiculous is that our President would back off from using it where appropriate.
Sorry, that's too long. Instead of calling the war "The War Against Terror", which is too vague, we cannot call it...
"The War Against The Individuals That would Like To Kill Innocent Americans To Achieve Political Objectives"
Too late!
We know he knows!
I don't need him to say it again.
He gets it.
More cowardice from the Bush White House.
I would prefer the President calls them "Islamic Spawn of Satan" or "Islamic Mass Murderers".
Man, I miss Ronald Reagan. He told it like it was whether people liked it or not.
PC is the Islamic fascists secret weapn.
One step forward (calling them what they are) and three steps backwards (caving to a bunch of PC bullsh!t).
FWIW, two questions to chew on:
1. What was the last war the US decisively won? (Hint: it wasn't Viet Nam and it wasn't Korea)
2. What significant differences do you see between that war on the War on Radical Islamofascists (sometimes incorrectly called the War On Terror)?
After Condi brokered the ceasefire deal with Israel and Hizzbullah, I'm starting to think that he isn't. If we tie the arms of our best friend in the "War on Terror" and can't go into the protests up in Dearborn, MI and round them all up for serious questioning then no, we've lost the will. The UK has lost it's will and now even Israel, the one nation most experienced with and at risk from Islamofascists has lost her will. Say hello to WW3. It's time to take our kids to the gun range and get them used to the sound of bullets flying and guns blazing cuz that's where they'll be in 10 years.
Just substitute "Islamic Neanderthals", "Degenerate Muslims", or "Insane Worshipers of a Schizophrenic Pedophile" (or some such thing) and we'll call it a day.
It's a far better description than "evil-doers".
OK 'W' use "Islamosh$ts"
No problem,
just call them what they are - MUSLIMS
Then everyone will understand.
Well if it's got to happen,I'd rather bring it on FULL scale right now.Another 10 yrs. of sucking huge amounts of Western money and being able to buy whatever military equipment they want from our "good" buddies Russia and China is going to make these people a hell of a lot more dangerous then they are right now !!!
As much as I think he's a semi-schizo--I think Michael Savage is the first one I heard use that term.
He seldom uses those terms anyway, so now that he did not repeat them in consecutive speeches, he has "dropped" it.
The AP is full of sh*t.
Considering they are in favor of eliminating Isreal from the map, I would wipe my butt with their objection.
"It's not the first time you used it, Dubya. Suck it up, and keep using it."
(lightening strikes twice) I agree with Coop.
Wow.
Can we still say envirofascist?
Sounds like CAIR and SA took GW to the woodshed.PC'ness wins again.
Could use an Animal House moment in the White House.
Bush: What the happened to the White House I used to know? Where's the spirit? Where's the guts, huh? "Ooh, we're afraid to go with you Mr. Bush, we might get in trouble." Well just kiss my #@# from now on! Not me! I'm not gonna take this. Nasrala, hes a dead man, Ahmadinejad, dead! Kim Jon-il...
To wit Mr. President:
Folks:
Extremists:
He only has to use it every once in a while for it to have impact......
