(Columbia) August 16, 2006 - A break-in at a Richland County home ended with one of the suspected robbers being shot to death.
The homeowner says a friend came through to help stop the crime, suffering a bullet wound. The homeowner tells WIS, "I'm sorry he had to get shot in the process but I'm really grateful 'cause my kids were in the house and everything."
The man, who we'll call "Mark" showed us where he says two armed robbers hid, waiting for him to come home. Mark says the crooks snuck in through the fence and broke into his Richland County home after his two friends dropped him off.
Mark says they demanded money. He gave them what he had but they wanted more, "After they snatched chain off my neck, they took my car keys. They told me to call the two guys that just left to come back and they were going to rob them also."
"When he called me back and I just told him hurry up and come back over here. He said he kind of detected something. He kind of knew something was wrong."
Within minutes Mark's friends arrived, armed and ready, "When I opened up the back door I saw the gun in his hand so I told him they had guns in the house and I ran out of the house and that's when the shooting started."
A bullet pierced the back door and one hit a car window, leaving glass on the ground. And then one shot struck Mark's friend, but he managed to fire back, killing one of the robbery suspects, 29-year-old Jevis Rogers, a Columbia man who's been in prison many times for several crimes including burglary. Mark's friend won't be charged in Rogers' death.
Meanwhile, the other robbery suspect is still on the loose, leaving Mark on alert. "Most definitely I'll be watching my back, but you know if they're watching you'll never see them till it's too late anyways."
As he's learned from an experience, that could've been worse if it weren't for the help of a friend. "He means the world to me. I'd do anything for him."
Investigators say the second robbery suspect is a friend of Jevis Rogers. Anyone with information about this crime should call the Richland County Sheriff's Office.

And another one bites the dust.
Jevis?
S.C. ping
Well he certainly won't rob another household now.
Yeah, baby!!!!
Don't you just love a SC story with a happy ending?
The only person who's going to prison is Jevis's buddy, when they find him. Somebody will rat him out.
I'm sorry but none of this is believable. WIS-TV is South Carolina's commie version of the NY Times. Richland County has become a cess pool of gang and drug violence and WIS would have you believe the perps and the victims are victims.
First of all 1) how did "Mark" know where the two armed robbers hid? If he knew they were hiding, why didn't he wrassle them right there; 2) if the perps were waiting for "Mark" to come home, how did they know he was coming home? How did they know he was gone? How did they know what time he would be home? 3) If the perps broke thorugh a fence
a) when did they do that? Before "Mark" came home or after?
"Mark said his kids were at home. THEN WHERE THE HELL WAS HE? Why didn't the perps "snuck through the fence" and "broke into his home" and hold his kids hostage. Where were the kids' mama? Or was nobody with the kids?
There's way too many holes in this story. WIS will put up bleached blonde yapping mime to say "oh look how cool we are". There's no difference in them and the Reuters fauxtography, false facts are still false facts. This story stinks to high heaven.
Don't Ask Jevis. He ain't talkin'.
LOL! Jevis Regal? I think I got served that in a bar in Mexico.....
I bet the other robber doesn't go to the funeral.

Nice!
Ha!
Took the words right out of my mouth
he says two armed robbers hid, waiting for him to come home. Mark says the crooks snuck in through the fence and broke into his Richland County home after his two friends dropped him off.
Sounds like the perps waited lurking outside the house, so the kids inside wouldn't have been alerted to anyone breaking in. Then after "Mark" was inside, they broke in and attacked him. It was probably clear where they had been hiding, due to limited options and the spot where they broke in.
None of which is to say that "Mark" is a perfect angel, who was just picked at random by these perps.
Headline should read--- Two Friends Help Take Out the Trash.
DLR -- you made my day. Again. It's a special ministry you have.
Nope, he'll be starring on America's Most Wanted -- about 2 weeks before he's arrested.
Is the other suspect named Wooster?;)
Sounds like they disposed of the Meth before the cops were called.
If Wooster is the other suspect, they can find him on the set of "House" ;)
Great minds and all...
;o)
Is this a dummy test? I see these articles everyday on FR. A gun is involved, one man lives, one man dies. We hear the victor's side of the story and 99% of all posters automatically believe it. At least the headline uses the word 'apparent'. That should be a clue telling you that the police will investigate the matter before coming to a conclusion. I bet you people also believed in the authenticity of those photos from Lebanon.
Yeah, and one more hole. He said his kids were in the house, yet he ran out the back door when the shooting started. What about the kids? He just left them in the house???? Weird.
Always nice to see plenty of extra clips.

I think Angie Goff is the same "journalist" who did the piece on assault weapons after the recent shootings at Barnyard Flea Market. She ain't the sharpest knife in the drawer, but her hair and makeup are always perfect.
Life obligation 1 - protect self
2 - protect family
3 - protect those around you
There is an obligation to repel the invader, and use deadly force if necessary. The invader has lost its rights.
Thank you, NRA!

Bump
Good! This guy's friends deserve a barbecue! My two ex-military kids live in my house and hubby is a cop. Anyone who breaks in here only has a choice of which room to be shot IN.
I bet you people also believed in the authenticity of those photos from Lebanon.
Do you allege that Rogers criminal record was fake, also?
29-year-old Jevis Rogers, a Columbia man who's been in prison many times for several crimes including burglary
I guess that somebody had it in for poor ol' Jevis so he was set up and now the South Carolina Department of Justice, Board of Corrections and God only knows what other agencies, and maybe even with the help of the Hezbo's, has hatched this conspiracy to cover up Mr. Rogers assassination.
Glad you alerted us to this because us 'dummies' just swallowed this cover-up story of a bushwacker being killed, hook, line and sinker.
Our revolving door criminal justice system where the rights and welfare of the "clients" supercedes the safety of the public.
Ain't it wonderful!!
Why are you telling Romanov? :-D
Thanks for pinging me to the story, guys, and I always appreciate having Freepers with feelers out to help me find more stories. Just one quick note; in the future, you may want to check and see if I wasn't the author of the thread. ;-)
Dude, I'm going to have to report you for gun porn. Sweet looking pea-shooters, though. Taurus?
Okay, so how did/do you have it set up to click on a link and have a freep-mail window come up with subjects already filled in?
Okay, I just experimented with the code, worked it out, and added it to the armed citizen ping. Thanks for the unintentional help!

Hey, don't you go blaming me for that code! I'm just an innocent bystander/victim/user.
That code was written by Swampy :)
Top center = SIG Pro 2009
Center left = SIG P229 in .40 S&W
Center right = SIG P239 in .357SIG/.40 S&W
Bottom = DPMS AR-15
That was my SECOND guess.
Tell Swampy thanks, then. I got three new additions to the list just this morning, thanks to the new code!
This is great!
And are a member of the NRA?
Oh, why wasn't a description given of the missing one?
I am indeed. My magazine of choice is America's First Freedom.
