Reserves Demo Calling For Gov't To Resign Tonight (Israelis Demand Gov't Resignation Alert)

(IsraelNN.com) A group of reserve soldiers, who were recently discharged and are setting up a forum, have called upon Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, Defense Minister Amir Peretz, and Foreign Minister Tsipi Livni to resign. Tonight the soldiers will be holding a demonstration at Rabin Square in Tel Aviv at 7p.m. The demonstration is expected to be the first of several, under the banner, “You failed – resign!”

In a petition publicized by the forum, the public is asked to sign the following: “We are very worried about the fate of the country. From all ends of the political spectrum, we are calling upon the government, headed by the prime minister, to take personal responsibility for its failure and resign. We believe that we have the power as individuals rallying together, to declare, ‘Never again!’”

A group of Israeli army reservists are holding a demonstration in Tel Aviv's Rabin Square tonight - to call for the resignation of the Prime Minister and the government for its wartime failure. Their slogan, appropriately enough, is: "Never again!"

Olmert was the mayor of Jerusalem from 1989-2001. No one particularly remembers his tenure there.

I am under the impression that Israel is a parliamentary democracy. In most models of this form of government an election is called when the government loses the confidence of parliament. Could someone explain what the procedure is in Israel.

Israel, like the state of New York, is not likely to vote out the socialists that cause such dangerous national security conditions. Did anything change after Clinton's weakening of pre-911 security mechanisms? It will take millions dying to change the voting preferences of those seeking to vote themselves free stuff.

Supposedly Olmert will go before the Parliament shortly.

All this chatter about how the war could have, should have, beeen won in seven days like in days of old are similar to the insanity here from the likes of Kennedy. He did the count on how quickly we defeated the Japanese and the Germans and wants to know how is it we are still in Iraq.

Urban warfare is horrifically dangerous to the Israeli's for more than just the danger to the soldiers.....it's fighting world opinion as well. Israel feels a special obligation to protect innocent life.
