Time's up, Cindy
Waterbury Republican-American ^ | August 19, 2006 | Editorial

Posted on 08/19/2006 8:14:21 AM PDT by Graybeard58

Attention Cindy Sheehan: Your 15 minutes are up. Ms. Sheehan, whose son Army Spc. Casey Sheehan died heroically in Baghdad during Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2004, has spent the intervening years morphing into a professional protester and disgracing her son's memory by fronting for extreme left-wing, anti-war groups. Last August, she cemented her position as a leftist icon with a 26-day "peace vigil" near President Bush's ranch in Texas that attracted the media horde and the glitterati.

Well, she's back in Crawford, but this summer rerun is not playing nearly as well with the media, Hollywood halfwits or cut-and-runners. Her sparse encampment has just a handful of protesters, and even she intends to be absent for extended periods while she fellow-travels to "peace protests" around the globe.

So why bother baking in Crawford this month, especially when her main goal -- gaining further publicity to make herself more marketable and thus command more money for appearances and speaking fees -- won't be achieved?

Maybe it's time for Ms. Sheehan to take a cue from her backers and just Moveon.org.

Bingo. Exploiting her son's death is her new job. What filth.

Cindy who?

I firmly believe if Casey were granted HIS 15 minutes back on this earth he would spend it whipping the crap out of his "mom", who by the way, left him and his father when he was a baby. His father and stepmother raised him. When he was KIA in Baghdad, all of a sudden his hippie-wannabe mom saw her opportunity and put on the inconsolable, grieving mother facade.

She is beyond reprehensible.

Don't worry her 15 minutes is almost up. The one thing that the press loves more than taking someone from obscurity to celebrity is to take that same celebrity that they created and all the sudden crush them till they are destroyed. The press loves that power and they have been doing it for decades. Her time is about up.

left him and his father when he was a baby.

I don't think that rumor is true. There was another family in the news at the time who did fit the rumor.

That's a shame. Cindy and her fellow travellers in the media did more for the conservative cause than that other famous Crawford resident.

Yes, she has other kiddoes. From
The History Guy, Bio Files:

Cindy Sheehan (b. 1957)
Cindy Sheehan gained fame in the summer of 2005 for her anti-war activism and her vigil outside of President George W. Bush's Texas ranch. Sheehan's son, Casey, served in Iraq with the U.S. Army, losing his life on April 4, 2004.

On June 18, 2004, President Bush met with Cindy Sheehan and other parents who had lost sons or daughters in the war. This meeting took place at Fort Lewis, an Army base near Tacoma, Washington. After Casey's death, Cindy Sheehan co-founded Gold Star Families for Peace, and began making anti-war and anti-Bush speeches.

On August 6, 2005, Sheehan began a demonstration outside President Bush's ranch in Crawford, Texas, attracting major media coverage and sparking nation-wide discussion over her role, and the continued war in Iraq.

After her initial demonstration in Crawford, Texas ended, Sheehan participated in other protests around the nation and gave speeches against the war and against President Bush.

In the summer of 2006, Cindy Sheehan used some of the money she received from her son's death to purchase land in Crawford, Texas. She did this in order to facilitate more anti-war and anti-Bush protests and demonstrations.

Family:

Husband-- Patrick Sheehan (who filed for divorce on August 12, 2005)

Mother--Shirley Miller

Sons: Casey Sheehan (1979-2004), and Andy Sheehan

Daughters: Carly Sheehan, and Jane Sheehan

Her family did come out against her, but they had a tough time with the "publicly" part because of the hostile press.

I want to know who funds this woman. She obviously doesn't have a job other than protester, but travels the globe, buys property in Crawford, Texas, jets around the US etc. Where does her money come from? I would guess George Sorros' crowd funds her, but could it be that she also gets money from some even more nefarious sources, like Hezbollah or the Iranians?

Absoloutely incorrect. You have a woman who appeared on O'Reilly confused with Sheehan.

The MSM is not interested in putting any interviews with the ex and grandma in the paper. It would be detrimental to their 'cause'.

As I have posted before,I commend the Freeper forum for being civil as to the rest of the grieving family. One can only imagine having a tragic event that breaks your heart everyday, played over and over again for the benefit of one crazed selfish person. The rest of the family, more than likely, can't turn on the news or radio without being subjected to her loony rantings. My heart goes out to them.I really never understood the closure thing that people talk about.A hole in your heart never heals, but it surely doesnt help to be reminded of a tragic event on a daily basis.Prayers to the family. Casey was,and always will be a hero in my eyes.

Please, let's finally get this straight!

Cindy is plenty bad enough without the need for spreading misinformation about her.

Last summer, Cindy was to appear on a talk show. She cancelled. ANOTHER woman who lost a son in the war and became a protester appeared in Cindy's place. It was THAT WOMAN who, it was found, did not raise her son.

Frankly, it's amazing the ride lasted this long even given the liberal media - their attention span just isn't long enough. She's really not that interesting regardless of one's point of view. My goodness, you should see the character (and his ideas) that I ran into while in DC last weekend. Sheeeeesh, this fellow has been camped out next the White House on the sidewalk under a sheet of plastic since 1981!

Speaking of "ride," Cindy bought herself a pretty powder blue VW last year. This was before she thought it necessary to buy her son a gravestone.

Last October, Cindy claimed the following:

Anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan recently signed on with a speakers' bureau, and her appearance on the lecture circuit drew mixed reaction Tuesday night, especially from her younger supporters at the University of Maryland.

Sheehan previously told Cybercast News Service that she was not taking money from organizations like MoveOn.org or private financiers like George Soros but that her recent 51-city bus tour was funded by "grassroots fundraising."

LOL!!!!

Most of the family has come out against her antics - from Drudge:

FAMILY OF FALLEN SOLDIER PLEADS: PLEASE STOP, CINDY!
Thu Aug 11 2005 12:56:21 ET

The family of American soldier Casey Sheehan, who was killed in Iraq on April 4, 2004, has broken its silence and spoken out against his mother Cindy Sheehan's anti-war vigil against George Bush held outside the president's Crawford, Texas ranch.

The following email was received by the DRUDGE REPORT from Casey's aunt and godmother:

Our family has been so distressed by the recent activities of Cindy we are breaking our silence and we have collectively written a statement for release. Feel free to distribute it as you wish.

Thanks, Cherie

In response to questions regarding the Cindy Sheehan/Crawford Texas issue: Sheehan Family Statement:

The Sheehan Family lost our beloved Casey in the Iraq War and we have been silently, respectfully grieving. We do not agree with the political motivations and publicity tactics of Cindy Sheehan. She now appears to be promoting her own personal agenda and notoriety at the the expense of her son's good name and reputation. The rest of the Sheehan Family supports the troops, our country, and our President, silently, with prayer and respect.

Sincerely,

Casey Sheehan's grandparents, aunts, uncles and numerous cousins.

You did read about this...from last week?

MOTHER SHEEHAN'S MARRIED LOVER

Activist breaks camp in Crawford to do 'damage control'

Cindy Sheehan packed her bags and left Crawford ,Texas, Tuesday afternoon and arrived home in Berkeley, Ca. late Tuesday evening. Sheehan rushed back to do damage control after explosive information became public today about an alleged affair that began while she was still married to her husband Patrick, and after her son Casey Sheehan died in Sadr City, Iraq attempting to rescue members of his trapped squad.

Sources are telling authors Melanie Morgan and Catherine Moy, (American Mourning, Cumberland Press) that Sheehan is furious that the news of her affair has gone public. Sources have identified the boyfriend as former right-winger Lew Rockwell of the Ludwig Von Mises think tank located in Alabama, who is himself married.

Sheehan was in Texas for over a week to confront President Bush about the war in Iraq, demanding a second meeting with the man she calls a 'murderous bastard.'

Sources say that Sheehan met Lew Rockwell in an Internet chatroom, and exchanged 600 text mail messages before her husband learned of the affair through phone records.

Sometimes, there are just no words for a person's choices and actions. Like this past week, for example...Mother Sheehan told the media that she was "a finalist" for the Nobel Peace Prize and that she recently buried her uterus in Crawford, Texas.

See what I mean? Just no words.
