To Our Modern War Protesters
DakotaRed

Posted on 08/20/2006 10:00:39 AM PDT by DakotaRed

In reply to a poster at the blog, Victoria Taft Blog, A Marine Responds to the NSA Ruling, a local Conservative Radio Talk Show, I took a comment made to a Marine as less than flattering and felt compelled to reply.

My first attempt at creating a post here, so be kind ;).

To Our Modern War Protesters

I sit back and watch as you protest, as you proclaim, “I support the troops, but not the war.” I see you bashing the President over every little thing he does. I’ve watched as you set up fake coffins outside of Walter Reed Hospital, where recovering troops are. I see you as you encourage young troops to desert the military, to flee to Canada or anywhere else. I hear you as you yell Bush will be drafting kids soon, even though the only draft proposal has been coming out of Democrats. I listen, as you demand an immediate withdrawal of all troops from Iraq. “Leave it to the Iraqis,” you yell. “Bring the troops home now,” you scream. I even see you sneering at our brave young men and women as they return to America and hear you as you whisper what losers they are, unable to find decent paying jobs in civilian life. I even remember moonbats as you when I returned from Viet Nam and have run across too many of you in the ensuing 36 years.

Little do you realize that if Iraq goes the way Viet Nam did, it will not be because of brave young people in uniform lost their will or couldn’t hack it (nice of you to always remind us of stories implicating atrocities of a very minor small handful as if all committed them), but will be due to the efforts of leftist Bush bashers, again, like you.

We were continually undermined in Viet Nam and forced by the left to leave. We agreed to a Peace Plan that ensured a free country we would reenter and protect them if the oppressive communist North attacked them. Due to the efforts of a mostly Democrat Congress, a bill was passed prohibiting any future aid or help to South Viet Nam.

Then, for over 30 years, those of us who served and sacrificed our youth to protect freedom and liberty around the globe, as stated by Democrat President, John F. Kennedy, have been bombarded with messages from television, movies, politicians, book authors, school teachers and college professors and the socialistic left leaning banker types with tales of what losers we were, what a danger we posed to society (it was no less that John 'F'in Kerry that stated "The country doesn't know it yet, but it has created a monster, a monster in the form of millions of men who have been taught to deal and to trade in violence…..,") and looked upon us as deranged, potentially violent hair triggered war criminals. We are called "baby killers," even though we may not support abortions (who do you think really kills more babies?).

No, I've seen your type over and over for many years now. In your egotistical hatred of George Bush and Republicans, you sit in your self-proclaimed ivory towers of self-righteousness and try to portray an image of caring about the troops when you actually despise them, probably out of jealousy. Jealousy that they have the guts to stand for something and desire to see others free to live as we do. You think bashing Bush and the WoT to the U.S. Service men and women fighting it will make others think you care enough to not want to see him hurt or injured when you couldn't care less that your defeatist rhetoric will cause many more deaths of Americans in harm's way than save.

Just like from back in the 70s, if you succeed in forcing an American abandonment of Iraq, you will puff out your chest bragging at how you "stopped a war." In fact, the leftist anti-war protesters did no such thing. They prolonged it by 5 years at a cost of nearly 40,000 more American lives on the battlefield.

You remind me of a slick banker slyly talking a farmer into a loan, knowing the terms will end up making the farmer lose their farm and the bank to take possession of it with the intent to make a profit off the sale of the land.

People like you, Cindy Sheehan, Ned Lamont, John Kerry and so many more couldn't hold a candle to the men and women volunteering for our Armed Services today. You can only be jealous that they have their values and the intestinal fortitude to stand up for them.

You should thank God (or whatever you may believe in) that there are still young people willing to stand and protect you in your ivory tower, just so you can trash them.

To any Service member if you read this, pay no mind to the latest moonbat war protesters. Whether they ever served or not, they have forgotten what it means to stand for something that is worthwhile standing for.

Lew

Call the war protestors what they are:

"Copperheads".

Same as they ever were.

Sure liberals say they support the troops but true support comes from an individuals actions, not just their words. Do they send care packages that are distributed to soldiers? No! Do they give them the benefit of the doubt? No!When they come home do to help them readjust to normal life? No! The bottom line is liberals and democrats do not support our troops.

Thanks to all.

While I realize this is like preaching to the choir, I also realize they lurk here and hopefully, a few may open their eyes and possibly hearts. If nothing else, I got it off my chest and will continue telling the moonbats what I feel.

I forget who said it, but he described these protesters as "1960s re-enactors", like the guys who do the Lexington Green pageant or the Gettysburg stuff.

When will the left realize the truth of the situation?

There are 3 options:

1: Peace - all we have to do is all convert to Islam - then kill everyone who hasn't and go around and cut off the fingers of any woman wearing nail polish.

2: War now - since we have no choice in this - we fight the war now on the streets of their cities over there.

3: War later - we cut and run from Iraq and try to appease everyone and we end up fighting the war later but on the streets of our own cities.

Bush chose option #2. I agree with him.

Well done.

The left suffers from cognitive dissonance.

They prefer to live in their utopian dreams rather than in the real world.

Their actions get millions killed.

We need to be out protesting them.

More blood is on their hands.

Great post. The hate politics is real bad, and; most of the hate is based on the fact that they, (DEMS), want to regain power. Those who claim to be open minded, should look back at the DEMS history on defense spending and how they cut our active duty forces to bare bones time and time again.

You nailed it about the great job offers for Vets after RVN. The GI Bill had not changed since WWII. Veterans with combat disabilities were ignored by a number of VA hospitals or doctors. After some 9 years of active duty, I decided to join a Veterans organization in 75. I did feel unwelcome, but; that has changed. I recall the anti war hippies and their rants, rallies, hate, and their blame our troops BS on the college campus, while on bootstrap in 70-72 at UNO.I was still on active duty then.

The bottom line is- I recall a much nicer, more civilized, and more cooperative Congress in early 50 to even 70. Most of our elected officials were WWII vets with civil tongues. and; most had class, manners, and respect for each other.

Then came Kerry and Fonda peace BS, plus a few others, and; Congress and politics has never been the same. How do we expect kids to be respectful these days, when they hear the hate speech by our elected leaders directed at each other? It is both sides now. I do feel that Howard Dean is the master of hate. This divide and conquer is tearing this country apart, and; it is playing into the hands of our enemies.

It is like the same old VVAW is back to their dirty work again, and; they will use anyone to push their hate. Read "Stolen Valor." See who these wannabe/poser VVAW types really are.

If folks really care about our troops, please do not put this VVAW/Code Pink/Murtha/Kerry's crap on them. Our military is the reason people have the rights they have. They protect you 24/7/365 a year. The do it because they love this country. Unfortunately, we have some sad men, who feel that nothing is worth fighting for and nothing is worth dying for. They should hang their heads in shame.

DO NOT BREAK THE HEARTS OF OUR MILITARY AGAIN.

Stolen Valor is an excellent book. Another, but less notable one is Unheralded Victory by Mark W. Woodruff.

After I decided to not make the Army my career in 1977, right after Carter's amnesty to Draft Dodgers, and after 8 years active duty, I had occasion to draw some GI Bill benefits for education. As usual, checks were very slow in coming. A few calls to the VA elicited the response that I just needed to be patient. After all, it wasn't like I earned the benefit or anything. I was actually told that and luckily was on the phone, not across the desk from the VA rep, who it turned out, had never spent a day in any branch of the Military, much less a single day in Viet Nam.

I am only one man but will do whatever I can to prevent our young Service-members today from having done to them what was done to us. I thank them when I see them in uniform and have even anonymously paid for their dinners at restaurants when one is there in uniform. And, as you can see, have no problem speaking out in their defense where needed.
