Judging by his responses on this and another thread it would seem that our esteemed expatriate envisions exactly that as the wave of the future.

He, I presume, intends that his child (I don't think more then one designer baby is in fashion with the aristocracy these days) shall be a member of that elite.

Something about that point of view reminds me of a story in the NYT awhile back. Apparently, it is quite the rage with the trendy upper westside set to take one's precious only child to China, when they are two or three years old, in order to give them a head start learning...I think it was Cantonese. I might have my Chinese dialects transposed. Who can say?

Cantonese is the dialect of Hong Kong and Guangzhou Province, in which is produced much of the 40% of "china's" wildly exaggerated GDP that derives from counterfeiting, intellectual-property theft and other gangsterism.

The self-annointed, self-appointed and self-perpetuating ruling "elite" (Hate to use that term to describe the lying, looting, thieving, mass-murdering manifestation of warlord-wannabe evil that actually runs what it calls "china" -- 2.5 million square miles of which, of 3.7 million total, is the brutally invaded, conquered and colonized property of others) itself pretends to "mandarin" status and thus uses the Mandarin Language.

"Hokkien" the dialect of Fujian Province and of the FRee Republic of Taiwan (ROC) is by far my preferred Chinese Dialect.
