Nazi-Like Propaganda Thrown In Neighborhood Lawns (Lubbock, TX)

Residents in the Tech Terrace neighborhood and other parts of Lubbock woke up to what they call an unpleasant surprise. Overnight, an anonymous person threw flyers with Nazi-like propaganda in the yards of several homes. NewsChannel 11's Suleika Acosta brings us this story from Tech Terrace.

Dozens of residents woke up Wednesday morning with plastic bags in their front yards. Inside the bags are two flyers rolled up in a rubber band with some rocks. We spoke with one long-time resident of Tech Terrace who says throwing this propaganda in her yard is unacceptable.

Early Wednesday morning when residents woke up to get their newspapers out of the front yards, they found a package they were not expecting.

"My thoughts are that I am very unhappy with this, I feel like we're going back to Nazi Germany time," says Resident Cindy Jobe.

Inside the bags, residents found flyers containing negative messages about Jewish people and racial mixing. Cindy has lived in Tech Terrace for 30 years and says she's never received anything like this.  "They shouldn't do this if they don't know that I'm not promoting them and they should ask before they start throwing things in your yard," she says.

The flyers appear to be a recruitment tool, hoping to gain attention but Councilman Gary Boren says the only attention the flyer should receive, is to be treated as garbage. "I look at this as strictly litter and trash and I would encourage anyone to throw it in a proper trash can and take it for what it's worth and that's trash," he says.

Boren tells us he is disappointed someone would go to great lengths to spread hateful messages in his district. "It's full of hate and we don't need any more of that in Lubbock, Texas," he adds.

Cindy and other Tech Terrace residents tell us they plan to take action by contacting the organization on the flyer. "I believe I will be getting on the phone and calling this telephone number and tell them in the future they'd better not throw anything on my lawn like this,' she says.

We're told police are investigating the incident. They are treating this as a case of littering.

Relax, lady, it's just a free subscription to the New York Times. Surely you have a birdcage or catbox that needs lining?

In west Texas, someone is likely to get the crap beaten out of them for trespassing while distributing this crap.

Beaten? They'll liable to get shot, especially if they try it at night, which I suspect is their normal MO.

Note the rocks in the bag. The rocks give the package enough weight to toss right-handed over the car from the driver's seat as this nitwit cruises down the road, never physically trespassing. I ran a paper route for a few years, threw the same way, but my local paper was heavy enough we never had to use rocks. Might also indicate this maroon couldn't even recruit an accomplice.

That sounds quite plausible. I imagine that some folks may keep an eye open over the next few days looking for suspicious vehicles cruising neighbourhoods in the wee hours; this makes me think that there is a Meth connection. We have had a spike in Meth producers/dealers here coupled with the appearance of some Aryan Brotherhood morons. It is probably some tweaker bigot who has been awake for three days straight.

I'm new here and I'm just wondering why everyone is jumping all over this news letter? If we don't know the name of the organization or what's even printed in the darn thing, then how can we pass judgement?

If it is from some Nazi group, wouldn't it make sense to find out who they are and challenge them to whatever it is that they believe. Bringing someone out of the darkness is always a good thing.

Just slamming a door when someone uses a "negative buzzword" seems close-minded to me.

I'm ready for the punch in the nose if I said something wrong.

If you don't like it, throw it away. The real threat, the real Nazism here is not the group that tosses these things, but the push that says such things ought to be illegal.

Once when I lived in Arkansas the KKK threw a flyer in my driveway. When I saw what it was I just laughed and threw it away. But I'm not a professional victim. Don't those people have trash cans?

Yes, they do have trash cans.
A concern that some have is that a lot of neo-Nazi groups are linked with methamphetimine production and distribution; so, activity of these idiots can be a sign that meth labs and meth gangs are soon to appear.
