August 26, 2006...

Operation Street Corner Action Report!

Boots on the Ground for the soldiers in the field

OSC goes to the Great Patriot PA Biker Event!
– A hot day outside of Monaca, PA –

Aug. 26, 2006, Monaca, PA... Vets for the Truth / Boot Murtha took its traveling OSC displays to the Rolling Thunder (PA Chapter 4) Great Patriot Biker Event. The event was held just outside Monaca on a great strip of land right along Route 18 at the Midway Bar & Grill.

We were able to meet multitudes of great people and American patriots and discussed issues one-on-one with our many visitors. Lots of information and flyers were handed out – about Murtha and about our upcoming Oct. 1st Boot Murtha Rally in Johnstown. We also gave visitors Boot Murtha stickers and t-shirts – which were quickly donned and seen throughout the event.

That was then, this is now...

The consensus of the vast majority of people visiting with us was this: Murtha must go!  Regardless of opinions on Murtha's past words and deeds, it is what Murtha is saying and doing now that have folks no longer supporting him.

His is playing politics now with our soldiers' lives was a common reason cited for no longer supporting him. His insensitivity to soldiers' families now – who need to know that the family member's life and sacrifice had good purpose – was another reason for no longer supporting him.

The backlash is coming this November. Message to John Murtha: the past is the past. We don't like what you are saying and doing NOW!

Some details...

A couple of veterans I spoke with expressed loyalty to Murtha because he had helped them somehow along the way in the past; or they believed "he was a highly decorated honorable man." I was impressed with their willingness to hear my reasons for no longer supporting Murtha. They listened as I assured them I was from Murtha's district 12 – a real constituent! I explained that I have family members on the ground now in Iraq, and how deeply concerned I am about Murtha's politicizing of the military for personal gain. Such talk puts our soldiers in even greater danger and demoralizes our troops. As our discussion progressed it became clear that we had much more in common, than not.

Many I spoke with felt Murtha had been in politics too long now, was out of touch and needed to retire. They appreciated the fact that Boot Murtha was sticking to supporting the troops and not changing positions now like Murtha.

Again, it is what Murtha is saying and doing now that shows voters he no longer represents their views and is now using our troops to get ahead politically.

A couple of Vietnam veterans who were opposed to our position admitted they learned some things from our discussion that they did not know and said they'd have to look at things more closely.

That's all we ask.

Boot Murtha and its Operation Street Corner (OSC) displays are all about getting the facts about Congressman John Murtha to the voters of district 12. Voters can then make an informed decision how to vote on Nov. 7th.

Next week, more reports from 12th District OSC'ers to come!

OSC District 12 Executive Director

I wish I lived close enough to help.

I felt the same way, living as I do in Calfornia, but finally figured out a contribution to this organization or directly to Irey would help some, so I did. And got a very nice letter back from the Irey campaign explaining the issues, their strategy, etc.

Great work, Linda! The Murtha camp is attempting to define the opposition as rightwing radicals instead of people with the same values as 12th District voters. You're making sure that voters know the truth!

There is a correction to a sentence in this report. I did the editing and missed it the first go around. The sentence: We also gave visitors Boot Murtha stickers and t-shirts – which were quickly donned and seen throughout the event. should read: We also gave visitors Boot Murtha stickers and t-shirts – which were quickly accepted and seen throughout the event.

Sorry 'bout that!

Exactly right, and thanks much for helping the cause. This isn't simply a Pennsylvania race. Murtha made sure of that last November, and really drove it home on May 17th with his declaration of guilt over Haditha.

Oh my goodness. This is just the most poignant, heartfelt crock of bull I've ever seen. This, is more appropriate:

As so often happens in lines of poetry that sweep across time, Swift’s words may apply to MURTHA as much as they did to Marlborough:

“True to his profit and his pride,

“He made them weep before he died.”

From the editorial you mention in today's the Johnstown Tribune-Democrat [LINK]...."Unnecessary deaths vexed Jonathan Swift centuries ago; they bother John Murtha today."

If unnecessary deaths vex John Murtha so much, why was he behind the premature deployment to Iraq of the Stryker transport vehicle in 2003? Against strong objection, the Stryker was rushed to Iraq in 2003 -- waaaay before field testing of it was complete here stateside. The result? UNNECESSARY DEATHS of soldiers -- 3 related to seat belt issues upon rollover of the Styker. Others from shields promising to protect from rockets that did not perform as promised. All things that would have been discovered here stateside if fieldtests had been allowed to be completed.

Seated as ranking member of the Appropriations Defense subcommittee, Murtha pushed this vehicle through and in the process its cost of production has skyrocketed off the charts. All to get its numerous, deadly gliches fixed. All to make Murtha look good to his defense contractor buddies (the ones who brought $20 million into Murtha's brother's lobbying firm in 2004 alone)..... what about those 'vexing unnecessary deaths?" Did Murtha consider these deaths necessary ?...

Murtha is the top recipient of 'defense' contributions. Imagine that! Guess those deaths were necessary after all. /sarcasm.

Murtha's talk does not line up with his actions and the consequences of his actions. This editorial today is typical of those who have not looked at the facts about Murtha. Facts the media has ignored and covered up for years and years.

Anyone wishing to see if what I am writing of is correct, do a simple word search for "Stryker" in wikipedia online. There you will find tons of links to DoD leaked documents, an actual 120+-page PDF document from the Army detailing the Styker's 'field testing' in the desert, during the first year of the Iraq War with our soldiers onboard. It tells of all the efforts our soldiers took to fix for themselves the numerous deadly defects.

For this alone, John Murtha should be run out of office on a rail.

Murtha vexed about unnecessary deaths? That's a joke.

"Oh my goodness."

Indeed. ;)

"This is just the most poignant, heartfelt crock of bull I've ever seen."

Oh, it's pretty typical of the bourgeoise "tude" that I've encountered around here over the last 30+ years, particularly from "trained professional educators". ;) Nothing like a Murtha supporter telling voters in the 12th that we're not smart enough to correctly "interpret" what Murtha says. Yup, that's the way to "make friends and influence others". :P

"This, is more appropriate:
As so often happens in lines of poetry that sweep across time, Swift’s words may apply to MURTHA as much as they did to Marlborough:

“True to his profit and his pride,

“He made them weep before he died.”"

Yup, the "irony" didn't escape me. ;)

Surely the movement builds to dump this ex-partriot out the door. Thank you IPWGOP and all associates who are putting in their time and efforts to help elect Diane, and at the same time expose this ex-Marine for what he really has become. May our side proceed with dignity, honesty, and integrity, and show the good folks in the 12th district why he not only is deceiving many of them, but simply no longer demonstrates the honest integrity a Marine is expected to posses.

Thanks for the link to that article. What sophistry! What complete cr*p! I slogged through all the pseudo-intellectual references to Jonathan Swift, the Duke of Marlborough, Presidents Kennedy and Eisenhower, and finally got to this:

"What I heard Murtha say is a call to his president as commander in chief to present a clear statement of objectives for military involvement in Iraq and a realistic timetable for accomplishment of the objectives, which would lead to the end of the necessity for military presence."

Well, that's not what I heard Murtha say when he demanded immediate "redeployment" to Okinawa, whence, on his planet, we could rapidly "redeploy" again to Iraq. I heard him say "let's cut and run, and let's do it NOW!" And I don't need any quotes from Jonathan Swift to help me prove it, either.

I sincerly appreciate your good intentions. Believe me.

However, you need to learn a bit about posting images here and refrain from posting 3.5 Megabyte images, which can blow away those with lower bandwidth connections.

If you must, download the poster to your computer, reduce it to size, change to 72 dpi (ppi) and compress its size (pref. under 50K) so it will load quickly. Then upload to a free hosting site or similar, and then link to that.

Or find a lower rez, smaller file or thumbnail of the same thing and then link to that smaller pic.

Again, I support your idea, it's just very rude to post multi-megabyte pix on forums/boards like this. It doesn't take anytime at all to learn how to be considerate and do it the right way.

Here's an article that might 'splain the need for 'netiquette for you.

Just a word to the wise...
