Excellent points all, but according to my recollection, the coverage of the Catholic pedophilia scandals involved some dancing as well...I recall the offenders being referred to almost universally as merely 'pedophiles' and the fact that the victims being almost (?) exclusively BOYS was almost never mentioned. They tried their darnedest to immolate the church while downplaying the homosexual aspect of it all as best they could.

Impaling definitely needs to be brought back as a legally mandated punishment for sex crimes against children. If the crime results in the death of the child, then perhaps the perp should be simultaneously impaled and burned at the stake?
It's essential to send a very clear message, which such a punishment would do in spades.
As other posters have suggested, he may well be segregated from the general prison population in order to keep him safe. Such a pity.
Bubba with an electric drill and Vinnie with a can of kerosene could do wonders for sending a crystal-clear message to like-minded pervs and perv wannabees.
