Batavia High Parents Learn About Gender Identity Disorder
Mike Doria, Patrice Walsh (Batavia, N.Y.) -- Parents at Batavia High School learned a lot about gender identity disorder Monday night.
More than 100 parents met with school leaders and heard from legal and medical experts to talk about the transition when a male teacher at the high school returns to school next week as a woman.
The earth science teacher, whose name hasn't been released, has been with the Batavia City School District for eight years.
Parents were sent a letter last week explaining the situation. Some feel they weren't amply warned, others say there was nothing to be warned about.
Amber Robinson attended the meeting. She claims that her son, who she describes as "somewhat immature," will be nothing more than distracted.
Robinson told the 13WHAM male reporter, “To be honest, if you stood here in a dress, I would giggle at you, that's honesty."
According to parents, students will be given two weeks to start addressing the teacher as "she." After that, it could be considered harassment if the teacher is referred to as "he."
Batavia School Superintendent Richard Stutzman, Jr. said the teacher is protected under New York State human rights laws because transgender identity disorder is considered a disability.
Stutzman assured parents that the teacher and his students will be closely monitored.
"We have to focus on the kids and make them comfortable, and work with the individual to make sure the instruction remains sound,” he said.
The school also plans on meeting with students to discuss the teacher's transition.
Student Kristen Drilling said what's on the inside is more important to her. She said a gender change does not impact the earth science teacher's credentials.
"I was excited when I found out I was having him,” she said. "Whatever he wants to do, we all feel it's fine. It's up to him."
Another student, Erika Bucci, said, "I heard he was a good teacher, what he changes about himself doesn't matter."

Just what "right" do teachers have to project their psychopathology on to OUR children and then threaten us when we refuse to participate in it.....
so instead of making a huge ordea out of this, why didn't it just change its name and transfer to a different school?

Well IMO he's still a man (missing some parts) That said I wouldn't want him around girls any more than I would an intact male , in places like girls bathrooms and gym dressing areas.
The teacher could have done the "gender change" thing and gone somewhere else for the transition. Batavia is a small city and and close-knitted community. To do the transition there is forcing it down people's throats.
As an aside, Batavia used to be a nice town about 50 years ago. It's a dump now. No business. No growth. A town that has just really withered and died. However, if you want a REALLY good pizza if you are ever driving through Batavia, Pontillo's is the place.
IMO, he could have done this change over the summer, saved the taxpayers money for time off, and come back to school with a different name, look, and identity. He could pass as a completely different person, a woman. But then, of course, he wouldn't get to shove his agenda down the children's throat.

This guy is NOT a woman. The Dr. that did his sex change operation should lose his medical license for malpractice.
The psychiatrist that allowed this should lose his license.
This is craziness.

A DISABILITY? What, amputation of the penis? I'd be offended if I was legitimately disabled.

Also, why is his name protected?
I hope they don't say that in two weeks, they will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
I'll bet you could find a doctor who would start transplanting wings and feathers on you.
Then all you'd have to do is start enunciating "Pretty bird".
For cryin' out loud, they're kids and human; they're going to slip.
Any guy that wants his unit cut off and its remains mutilated has some sort of mental disability, in my opinion. And that doesn't excuse the fact he is a freak and does not justify political grandstanding on the issue.

My thoughts exactly! But...his/her sense of personal entitlement over rides all consideration for others. Isn't this amazing? I no longer recognize this wonderful country. This guy/gal has the right to anything he wants with his body...but this is a bit beyond the boundries when he/she forces an entire public school system to its knees.
