Sen. Edward M. Kennedy: Katrina One Year Later.. (BUSH pulled a Chappaquiddick.. MEGA MOONBAT BARF)
Yahoo News ^ | Mon Aug 28, 2006 | Sen. Edward M. Kennedy

Posted on 08/30/2006 5:28:11 AM PDT by IrishMike

Americans still remember vividly the scenes from a year ago when Hurricane Katrina swept away entire communities, sent thousands of families for shelter in the Super Dome, and left hundreds of thousands more homeless and jobless. Americans throughout the land were moved to help in any way they could - sending donations and aid and volunteering to meet the needs of our fellow citizens. We responded because that's what Americans do. We care for our country, help our neighbors, and lend a hand to those in need. However, as we all painfully know, the Administration did not live up to those values in our government's response to the crisis. Our fellow citizens were facing the worst devastation imaginable, and FEMA was nowhere to be found. The President stayed on his Texas ranch for days after the storm. Instead of joining local leaders in responding to the tragedy, he chose to fly over New Orleans for a brief look from Air Force One, well above the suffering below...........

One year later, hundreds of thousands of families from New Orleans and the Gulf are still without jobs and unable to return to their homes.

One year later, the administration has used less than half of the $110 billion in federal aid approved by Congress to help people rebuild their lives.

One year later, families in New Orleans are still waiting for trailers to live in and for demolition and clean up crews to clear their neighborhoods so they can rebuild their homes.

One year later, half of the city's hospitals remain closed and less than half of the New Orleans public schools plan to reopen this fall.

One year later, the levees are no safer than the day Katrina hit.

...One year later, Ray-Ray is still running around like the proverbial headless chicken.

(Did he get re-elected this year because they actually thought he was better for the job than Mitch Landrieu, or was it because they thought he hadn't suffered enough? I'm starting to lean toward the latter.)

As expected, no mention whatsoever of the two Democrats, Kathleen Blanco and Ralph Nagin, who deservedly should shoulder the majority of the blame for the tragedy. As always, it's President Bush's fault. If reality does not fit your agenda, just alter it.

If half the residents haven't returned, what's the problem here?

They can receive welfare payments without returning to New Orleans. The city may actually improve without the other half returning.

Americans throughout the land were moved to help in any way they could - sending donations and aid and volunteering to meet the needs of our fellow citizens.

Yeah, and has any gratitude been shown? All we hear is griping from New Orleans politicians and residents about how we don't care about them because they're black and nobody's doing enough.

I tell you, I am so disgusted at the ingratitude of New Orleans people toward the private citizens who have so freely given of their money and time (many taking time off from work without pay), I will really think twice about giving money or time if another disaster should hit in that area.

It's great to help people if they show even the least shred of gratitude, but when all you get is anger and scorn, why bother? (I know, I know--Jesus would say, help those in need anyway because you're doing my Father's will.)

Four years of known stupid is better than eight years of known corruption. Mitch Landrieu's daddy *is* the reason for a lot of the problems in NOLA.

One year later no one came to tell them to breath.
One year later no one came to tell them when you put your shoes and socks on, you don't do it in that order.

The swimmer opens his mouth and spews his liberal garbage again, trying to look "compassionate" to his base. I am sick and tired of the liberal left trying to get more people living on the government's nipple, rather than helping them back onto their feet.

The people he is talking about are professional leeches who drain all taxpayers, rather than being productive. There are many hurricane victims living in Texas who are working and paying taxes, not waiting for a government handout.

Katrina damaged 90,000 square miles, an area the size of Great Britain.
New Orleans a crack haven of 500,000 people.

You would think with all the Kennedy Money floating around this Country. Ted Kennedy would've been nice enough to had a really nice headstone made for Mary Jo instead of that little plaque that hides thee truth. Shame on you Teddy for being such a cheapskate with your own money while spending our TAX DOLLARS like it doesn't matter. In all your years in the Senate, just what have you ever really accomplished as your Legacy other than drink alcohol like a fish and commit murder while drunk behind the wheel of your Oldsmobile.

The problem with America is that the Democratic party has turned into a Quagmire of drunken blabbering blundering idiots. Teddy have you ever caught an STD while working with Cynthia McKinney? I'm just wondering if it was the Booze or the STD from maybe Cynthia that has made you such a brain dead stammering idiot??????

Quagmire, we got a Quagmire, burp, help, we got a Quagmire over here, belch, fart, OH MY GOD!!!!! It's a QUAGMIRE??? Has anyone seen my Oldsmobile, Barf, Mary Jo, get out of the quagmire, rumpfft. squirt, what's that smell?
