Good thing the Richmond race is next week, looks like Ernesto is heading for Virginia and the Carolinas with a lot of rain.

From the sound of the reports the pre-race in the stands and under the stands where the drivers went back and forth to their motorhomes was more exciting than the 'respectful' race.

Supposed to be 99 degrees Sunday at the CA Speedway. Look for a hot and boring race.

Morning umgud for the weather report. Those of us who have drivers barely in the Chase are hoping for a clean and productive race.

BBL off to the little city.

I'm a Mark Martin fan. He really got hurt at Bristol. Hope he improves somewhat or at least hangs on. But yer right, we probably won't see anyone get hurt at CA.

Have a great day. I'm off to work.

Mid to upper seventies here in Michigan for the next week.
I know you guys probably hate winters here, but we have lots of nice weather too.

Beautiful #3 for the guys at Walter Reed. Thank you.

To the Guys at Walter Reed, will see you at the gate this Friday, Sept 1. Get me more names of the ones that monitor this NASCAR site. We would like to acknowledge as many as possible. While I have met many of you, if you don't know me just ask any Freeper where is Coach Bill?

Sorry I haven't been participating much in the last few weeks. Sad news that I hate to bring up here but here goes.

I lost my wife at the end of July from cancer. It has been rough. The kid, 20, and I have been doing some deep sea fishing to get our minds off of it.

Get this, even though he is only 20, I have introduced him to the Atlantic City Casinos teaching him money management. (Or, how to not lose your ass). I had a $200 limit (show), but showed $500 winning and losing. Broke even and got a $50 dinner spiff. So, it worked out.

Hope to be here Sunday after a quick trip to Walter Reed this Friday.

I am out of town this weekend for a retriever field trial. I have to make my race picks tonight for FRFL, without the benefit of practice speeds or qualifying. Groan.

I hope to be back Sunday for the race, but no promises.

Hold down the fort. Tell the Juniors (Tony & Dale) to pull off another Michigan. They need it.

Darn, I bid $179,000.00 and the reserve is still not met and I'm out of money. They will take monthly payment. :)

Dear Bill, I'm so very sorry for your loss. It's something that is very, very difficult to live through. Several of us on this thread know the sorrow and grief you are going through. We are all here for you whenever you need us!

You are doing the right thing by keeping busy. I'm glad you will be visiting Walter Reed. If you see any of the guys, please wish them well and pass along all of our thanks for their service and our prayers for their healing.

Hi LVM, yes I saw it.

I just find it so hard to believe that they would have problems selling that track out with the huge population in Cali. Probably the tickets are too expensive.

Hi ST, yes wonderful cold front. LOL... I almost opened the windows! Almost!! The animals must have thought something was up cause they seemed to be roaming around......dead deer, possum, skunk on the highway into town. The elk herd across the way was up and about this morning as well.

Funny, the cars stop here just like in Yellowstone when the animals are spotted, only they're not behind a fence up there.

Kahne's event raises $144k; Stewart ok after wreck: #9-Kasey Kahne's year-old charity, the Kasey Kahne Foundation, which raises money to aid disadvantaged and critically ill children, raised $144,000 from Race night at Skagit Speedway [WA]. Fans clamored to see him and fellow NASCAR driver Tony Stewart take part in the sold-out event. They came early and stayed late. They proffered everything from hats and glossies to model cars and T-shirts for autographs. Some just wanted to be near him, as evidenced by the squealing teenage girl who got close enough to take a picture on her cell phone before running off with a hugest of grins.

It even took a little sting out of what could have been a bad break. Stewart, the defending Nextel Cup champion and currently eighth in the standings, flipped his car going around the third turn on the first lap of his qualifying heat. His car, which was later auctioned off, was badly damaged and Stewart appeared to have suffered a minor concussion. He was deemed fine enough to skip a hospital visit. Stewart returned later in street clothes, joking around in the pits with Kahne. Even the crash couldn't dampen the night's good vibes. "I love dirt track racing," Stewart told the crowd. "I was looking forward more to racing Kasey and being here than racing in (Sunday's Nextel Cup race at) Fontana (Calif.) this weekend. I love this kid like a little brother and I'm glad I could be here."(Seattle Post-Intelligencer)(8-31-2006)
