It's news to Paul Begala too. I don't believe for a second he's pro-life. He either isn't, or has abortion so low on his list of issues that are important to him that his position on it is essentially meaningless.
What these political analyst always fail to understand is that a person's position on a particular issue is not nearly as telling as how important that issue is to that person. People do not tally up a party's platform on all the issues, and compare it to the tally of another party's platform, and vote for the party that comes out ahead. They look at the few issues that are important to them, and then votes for whichever party both agrees with those issues AND places high priority on those issues.
They want you to believe after the Pope, but in reality it was after Led Zepplin's drummer.
