That would be nice but I doubt it, unless the publisher pulls the rug out from under them. However, I doubt sales will be what they initially expected.
IMO, Powell and Armitage, by remaining silent in the face of such a media onslaught against the official WOT & Iraq position of the U. S. government, when they had the information that would stop that locomotive in its tracks had they only advised the President of the facts, committed sedition.
I admit that might be overstating the case, but this story has me seeing red, I'm so angry.
Now there is one question that MUST be answered: If (and that's a non-credible if) Armitage truly didn't know Plame's ID was protected with covert status, how did he learn her ID? Who told him? (But I really think he KNEW her ID was classified, or should have known.)
"It follows that one of the most sensational charges leveled against the Bush White House -- that it orchestrated the leak of Ms. Plame's identity to ruin her career and thus punish Mr. Wilson -- is untrue. The partisan clamor that followed the raising of that allegation by Mr. Wilson in the summer of 2003 led to the appointment of a special prosecutor, a costly and prolonged investigation, and the indictment of Vice President Cheney's chief of staff, I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby, on charges of perjury. All of that might have been avoided had Mr. Armitage's identity been known three years ago."
Three + years of lying to the American people and not a single apology from the George $oreA$$ controlled rats.
The $oreA$$ funded web sites will continue their character attacks on our president inspite of this reality.
Fitzy should be disbarred, tried for malfeance and if found guilty be sentenced to be Karl Rove's messenger boy.
"Create the story.....build the lead.....milk the sources till they bleed.....Headlines ....deadlines.....Run......Run.....Oh sh*t!......the Truth.."
You have described the standard POA of the mediots who control the MSM as their Bush Derangement Syndrome overcomes them daily.
Check this site vs. some recent articles. The plan seems to be control od all info.
'What's more probable is that the WaPo can no longer deny the obvious.'
"Create the story.....build the lead.....milk the sources till they bleed.....Headlines ....deadlines.....Run......Run.....Oh sh*t!......the Truth."
Big Look posted the above later on in this thread.
It is apparent, that, even the Compost is scared of the reality that could come out of this 3+ year lie.
Shouldn't we at least have some hangings of the Traitorous Journalists and Politicians that lied about this story for 3 years?? I want some hangings just like they did!!!
Pray for W and Our Freedom Fighters
"The kettle's black, The kettle's black," cried the pot.
This is the closest we'll ever come to seeing the drive by media admit it's role in attempting to make this trivial non-story into a Bush Administration scandal. The story will slowly die, "not with a bang, bit a whimper". The real criminals, Joe Wilson and Patrick Fitzgerald, will simply slither slowly into oblivion.
Thanks for posting the last paragraph of this article/oped.
Our indexers need to preserve this last paragraph before it disappears into the ether zone.
The ComPost is finally admitting publically what freepers deduced 3 years ago.
Yeah, that's typcial.
As does mine.
My fury grows whenever I remember the crap Fitzie said for an hour at his 'presser'!!!
"Nevertheless, it now appears that the person most responsible for the end of Ms. Plame's CIA career is Mr. Wilson
And now they are pointing the finger at Wilson himself ???
Ok .. what gives cause this all SMELLS!"
You betcha, Red Rider! This smells like a huge pre emptive move to get out of the way before tons of Bull Fecal Matter hit the big high speed fans.
Remember there are five counts.
Count 1: Obstruction of Justice
Counts 2-3: False Statements
Counts 4-5: Perjury
This mostly appears to be based on Fitzgerald's interpretation and timeline and his apparent belief that Wilson was right about it all being a personal vendetta against him (Wilson).
Let me take this opportunity to wish everyone at DU a Merry Fitzmas. ;)
To sum up, we were right all along and the Bush-hating left was completely wrong - as we said they were - all along.
Nice to bury this on the op-ed page... getting mighty Orwellian over at the comPost: the DNC Post can report on something for months then misrepresent how they handled the non-affair on the pages of their paper and the headlines on their free commuter propoganda broadsheet? This story should be on the front page titled, "Media apologize to Karl Rove and Scooter Libby for Months of Slander."
Joe Wilson wouldn't happen to be a buddy of the Clinton's would he?
Standard Operating Procedure
Dont underestimate the liberal capacity for self-delusion.
Will Chris Matthews implode when he comes back from "vacation". I say he went to the "nervous hospital".
Yeah, that's typcial.
My thoughts exactly!
I am not to impressed to read this on Friday before a long weekend. Yet for a liberal rag like the Compost it is quite big! I hope Rush, Beck and Hannity are on this today.
I still wish the Compost and others in the drive by media would quit calling this Plame (or Flameout) woman a covert or classified agent. There is no proof that I am aware of showing her identity had to be kept secret.
Isn't it amazing how the truth always manages to come out. Sometimes to late, but better late than never I guess.
Hey WAPO, just because liberals scream and whine that there is a "crime" committed, doesn't mean a crime was committed.
In fact, most, if not all, of what liberals say is made up BS.
Now, when is the WAPO going to apologize to the Duke lacrosse players?
KOS is way ahead of the curve on this one.
Funny, didn't see anything about this headlining 'The Today Show' this morning as I sipped my coffee and had my nearly morning vomit (my wife has that awful show on).
I'm sure good ole Timmy Russert will be asking tough questions about this this weekend. Like asking all the liberals if they're going to apologize to the administration. Can't wait!
I'd like to see one of our Freeper writers write a book about this whole Plame Blame Game.
Why does it matter what Richard Armitage's "motives" were? I thought "outing" Valerie was the crime of the century - why isn't this guy being frog-marched out of State and indicted??
Gee, do you think they planted this story on page A20 (I believe) at the start of a holiday week-end on purpose??
The damage is alredy done, the MSM did their hit and run, and now goes...OOPS.
I think Armitage has just proven how unwise it would be to listen to him about anything at all. I mean, he sat there for years knowing the truth, all the while allowing his colleagues to be damaged by the big lie.
Oh, absolutely not
... sarcasm off ....
An example of the filth that's been permeating newspapers, talkshows and talking points, and Rat activities .... all to skew the public's opinion and perceptions of this good and honorable President, his administration, and the actions taken for our protection:
"This past weekend, we witnessed the indictment of I. Lewis Libby, the Vice Presidents Chief of Staff and a senior Advisor to President Bush. Libby is the first sitting White House staffer to be indicted in 135 years. This indictment raises very serious charges. It asserts this Administration engaged in actions that both harmed our national security and are morally repugnant.
The decision to place U.S. soldiers in harms way is the most significant responsibility the Constitution invests in the Congress. The Libby indictment provides a window into what this is really about: how the Administration manufactured and manipulated intelligence in order to sell the war in Iraq and attempted to destroy those who dared to challenge its actions.
As a result of its improper conduct, ..............."
BLAH BLAH BLAH
And, then there's Jason Leopold ...............
Will Chris Matthews admit he was wrong?
Dont underestimate the liberal capacity for self-delusion.
That is an impossiblity. Each time they drive a new theme which is lower than the last, they catch us by surprise. Even when we know they will do "anything" they shock us anew.
They are guerrila fighters and we are the principled but rigid soldiers in formation trying to withstand their attacks. It is really really really difficult.
I spend a lot of time praying, like I did as a kid during the Cold War.
Unbelievable. Never heard of this investigation.
I live in Chicago - Durbin is such a smarmy disgrace. Absolute scum.
I don't give much slack to liars.
Nor do I, but I also do not have any solid info on Libby's "lies" than what Fitzgerald said at his presser. I will await the trial for discovery of the facts.
WOW!!!!! Wilson is just another Clintoon stooge...........whodathunkit?
I would add that he should also publicly reprimand Fitzgerald for continuing the case for years after learning that Plame wasn't even covert to begin with.
[Will Chris Matthews admit he was wrong?]
No, the slobbering fool will not. Chris is still waiting for Rove to be indicted(!)
I have a campaign to educate today's readers of MSM. Always check the last two paragraphs for the facts. They will be printed there so the paper can not be attacked for omitting them. It really saves time when reading articles, as well. Today's writers and editors put their argument in the first 2 paragraphs, and the 5 Ws at the end.
Wilson & Plame: Your 15 minutes have expired.
Yeah ... Armitage is just a big ol' fuzz ball type of guy ... no harm meant, just passing on some idle gossip. Yet this same rag ... when they were attributing the Plame leak to senior WH sources were gnashing their teeth in a frenzy of fury.
This editorial in the Washington Post signals reality has set in ... we now must put all this behind us and move on ... rest assured little, or nothing more on the Plame story will grace the pages of this liberal rag.
President Bush should pardon Scooter Libby now and save him from further legal expenses. He should also explain at a press conference that Fitzpatrick should have never allowed this investigation to continue after he knew Armitage was the "leaker". Then he should pardon Armitage, Fitzpatrick and Colin Powell to imply that they may have been the real law breakers in this preposterous investigation. They all certainly wronged Scooter Libby.
What terrific suggestions! We should send them to the White House en masse.
