Posted on 09/01/2006 8:50:13 AM PDT by van_erwin
The two Fox News staffers who were kidnapped in Gaza earlier this month were forced to convert to Islam at gunpoint, according to news reports. Fox's Steve Centanni said on Wednesday that he didn't know if he was officially a Muslim"I don't know enough about Islam to know if it was official, or recognized." Well, is he a Muslim, or isn't he?

Well, if he gets a membership card in the mail, it's official.
Otherwise, he just humored the terrorists.
Someone needs to send this to ask an Imam.
I know enough to know that under any circumstances and acceptance then denial = death.
Is Mr. Engber that addled? Or couldn't he think of anything else to write about?
Maybe's he's just ans ASSociate member........
I guess the Muslim who tipped off the UK plane bombing plot wasn't a Muslim...
An Imam does not have to speak truth to an infidel if his position can be enhanced by lies.
By that logic, Rudolph Hess was not a Nazi?
"Is there anyone still out there who doesn't realize we're at war with an entire religion?"
Yes, millions of liberals and appeasers don't know.
Steve Centanni doesn't know... he thinks the Palis are "beautiful, gentle people."
Hmmm, the point flew right over your head, I see.
well, if he gets abducted again, he can just say he is muslim and he gets a free "no head chop" pass. But then again, Muslims kill their own without thinking twice... I guess his odds are better now though.
As for me, please chop my head off sir... I am not converting...
He will have to watch his back for the rest of his life.
I guess if you feel Islam is not a true religeon involving God but, by it's Koran and the actions of its adherents showing them more in tune with the devil, it wasn't a true conversion. However, Steve said something about how much he respects Islam, but that was when he was in the company of the muzzie leaders of Gaza. I would expect his ordeal wised him up as to the true nature of these savages, if he hadn't wised up already.
Bookmark for later so I can do just that! Any bets on whether it will be answered publicly?
How come an apostate is killed in Islamic Shariah but there's no compulsion upon other non-Muslims in the State?
Q: How come an apostate is killed in Islamic Shariah but there's no compulsion upon other non-Muslims in the State? Why isn't he/she allowed to follow whatever religion they want? Jazakum'Allahu khairun. Answer 7676
A: There are two categories of people mentioned: an apostate and an original non-Muslim. The injunctions of the Shariah as supported by the Quraan and Hadith that is applicable to both of them differs. In other words, both of them do not fall under the same category.
The first one is an apostate or renegade, i.e. a Muslim person who has turned away from Islam and the second are those who are non-Muslims originally. The law for the first group of people, i.e. renegade is that firstly Islam will be presented once again to him and if he has any doubts or queries then these should be cleared out and he will be given a respite of 3 days. If he accepts Islam again, then fine otherwise he will be killed. This is substantiated by the noble Hadith of Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam) wherein he explicitly mentions, Whosoever changes his Deen, then kill him. This only apply to the males. A female renegade will not be killed, rather kept imprisoned until she accepts Islam.
As for the second group, when the Muslims conquer a non-Muslim land, they will first invite those people to Islam because of the narration of ibn Abbaas (Radhiallaahu Anhu), No nation should be fought with until they are called to Islam. If the accept, then Muslims will not fight with them. And if they refuse, then they will be asked to pay Jizya (tax), if they refuse, this, then only will the Muslims fight them. This is also substantiated by Quraan, Fight against those who believe not in Allah nor in the last day nor forbid that which has been forbidden by Allah and his Messenger (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam) and those who acknowledge not the religion of truth (i.e. Islam) among the people of the scripture (Jews and Christians) until they pay the Jizya (tax) with willing submission and feel themselves subdued. (Surah Tawbah Aayat29).

Doesn't this make you feel better?
The relevant issue: If he never "became" a Muslim, he can believe whatever he wants. If he did become a Muslim, it is the duty, according to the Koran, of every Muslim, everywhere in the world, to seek to murder him if he states he believes in anything un-Islamic.
"Well, if he gets a membership card in the mail, it's official."
Not sure about that. I got an AARP card in the mail but it didn't seem to make me retired.
If he gets a load of virgins when he dies, then yes, he's a Muslim. :)
He endangered fellow Muslims to protect the infidel, so he was already on his first steps down the path to being a non-Muslim.
Islam and free, modern civilization are incompatible. Islam will always seek to convert the world - it follows the same logic as Communism, that only a world revolution will suffice. Even if we were to isolate the Muslim countries and prevent any contact between Muslims and the civilized world, they would find a way to take offense and try to attack us. It's all or nothing, I'm afraid. This world ain't big enough for the both of us.
We have a winnah!!!
That's a good point. I got a Capital One card and I'm not a pillaging viking, either.
It depends... Has put a check in the collection plate yet?
It all comes back to one thing. Islam is predicated on the notion that the world is subject to Islam whether it knows it or not, and muslims are called upon to make it clear to the world.
I, on the other hand, think that islam is full of crap if they think that I will ever pay their tax or speak their words.
If Centanni is wondering whether he is officially muslim, he needs to start rethinking his whole life, because he apparently doesn't know what he was before.
Steve, baby, you just learned lesson #1. Conversion by the sword is not only recognized: It's a sacrament to these clowns. Question is, do you believe you converted?
Why should a Christian resolve not to lie to a muzzie to save his life, on pain of death? They'll lie to us in a heartbeat, not just to save themselves but to kill us. I don't think it's a sin to lie to those animals.
Actually, that's a good question to ask CAIR. Let the whole country hear what they have to say about it.
If that's the method that Centanni can divorce himself drom his actions and all is:
CAIR has one purpose: to convert the United States to an Islamic state.
They should be banned as a terrorist organization. I have no idea why they are still allowed to function within our borders.
I don't think he meant he was unsure so much in the spiritual sense as in the legal sense, whether it was recognized by muslims as legally binding. In American law, we know that a contract made under duress is not valid, but apparently that is not so under Islamic law. They seem to take the view that you received a valuable consideration (keeping your head on your shoulders) for entering into a contract (conversion) with them, and so you are legally bound whether or not your heart was really in it. And the penalty for breaking this contract is death.
Simply because many Christians are of the opinion the you cannot serve G-d with a lie upon your lips...
See post #21. I took that from the Ask the Imam site.
mark for later.
according to islam, yes it is 100% official.
Well then, for a reporter over there, he's pretty ignorant. Conversion by the sword is what these asshats live for, and it's how most of the world became muslim. For them, damn right it's official. I think he should now step up and tell the story (to use his words). Watch what happens when he recants, and see who sides with and against him.
Interesting. But Mr. Centanni (or should I say Muhammed Centanni?) and his cameraman were not given the opportunity to pay tax.
You have to pay dues.
Even if he is taking a bite out of a Uncle Dave's pulled pork sandwich with a beer in his hand?
