National Life Chain, Sunday, October 1, 2006, Can You spare Just one hour in prayer for the Unborn?
National Life Chain ^

Posted on 09/01/2006 6:32:33 PM PDT by Coleus

Oct. 1 is the day for pro-lifers across the country to gather to declare that "Abortion Kills Children."

This year's National Life Chain - Life Chain Sunday is set for Oct. 1, 2006, with pro-life activists expected to gather in more than a thousand cities.   Sharron Albertson, state director for Life Chain efforts in Texas, said the purpose of the event is not picketing or protest. It's a prayer event, where people give feet to their faith.

"Tens of thousands of people," she explained, "will line major streets for one hour, praying for our nation and for life to once again be sacred."   They also will be holding signs bearing such slogans as "Adoption: a Loving Option," " Jesus Forgives and Heals," "Abortion Kills Children" and "Lord, Forgive Us and Our Nation."

The National Life Chain has been in existence since 1987, when founder Royce Dunn first championed the idea in his home community, near Bakersfield, Calif. The chain originally was placed near the area's abortion clinics.  "Before Life Chain, the people in his area were thinking that (local) pro-lifers were off-the-wall kind of people, and when they organized the first one and several thousand people came, it made a real impact in their area," Albertson said. "Of course, those abortion clinics have now closed, and life chains are all across the United States and Canada."

The first National Life Chain took place in 1994. Albertson said many areas where Life Chain has been in operation have seen some almost miraculous things take place.

National Life Chain Sunday 2006 will be held October 1. Last year, Life Chains in over 1000 cities and towns ministered to millions of motorists in the U.S. and Canada. Was your city included? If not, build a local prayer chain in 2006 for God to work through to save lives, change hearts, and to inspire new pro-lifers into your ranks. One Christian can bring the Life  Chain to your city on October 3. Will you be that person? The cost is minimal and the rewards immeasurable. They also will be holding signs bearing such slogans as "Adoption: a Loving Option," " Jesus Forgives and Heals," "Abortion Kills Children" and "Lord, Forgive Us and Our Nation."

I am with this. But let us all remember. There is power in prayer that does not need to be seen by men, signs will not dissuade the ignorant or evil. Poster boards may inflame and give cause to evil indignation.

God answers prayers. In His time. We pray in our closets, unknown to men..that is our power.

Public display is for those who seek recognition. I am with you, but the enemy has no need to see what is coming..if we BELIEVE His Power, we will prevail!

We are winning this battle. Keep up the prayers and keep up the earthly support of such activities like pregnancy support centers and adoption. There is no doubt in my mind that someday abortion will have a place in American History books alongside slavery. No one today could possibly imagine that slavery could have been condoned and promoted by our government and courts in years past and in years to come, that same revulsion will be felt towards the killing of innocent life.

Fred Barnes has a good read on today's Weekly Standard website. He explains how he and his wife, President Reagan , and others came to a pro-life position. He explains that many more will be coming to the same position in the future.

I can tell you any person who has attended our Life Chain are those people who have a continuous prayer life and mostly in their homes. As Fr. Payton said, "Families who pray together, stay together.

We have never had an bad responses or any evil responses. MOF several people have stopped their cars to get out and pray.

I have met a few who have had the same evil indignation fears, even in my own church, but these are the same people who pop into Mass just at it starts and is out the door after communion. I think there is more fear in their weak efforts at prayer and their really poor efforts at being holy.

Thanks for the heads up. I see on your linked map page that my little town will participate.

2Ch 7:14 "if my people, who are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land."
