Democrats call White House rhetoric on Iraq 'outrageous'
Yahoo ^ | 3 September 2006 | Staff

Opposition Democrats expressed outrage at a campaign by President George W. Bush's administration portraying critics of the Iraq war as defeatists reminiscent of those who tried to appease Nazis before World War II.

Bush's top aides, including Vice President Dick Cheney and Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, delivered strident speeches last week describing the conflict in Iraq as a crucial part of the "war on terror," invoking World War II and the Cold War.

"Can we truly afford to believe somehow, some way, vicious extremists can be appeased?" Rumsfeld asked in his address.

Democratic lawmakers said the White House was trying to attack its critics by questioning their patriotism and determination to fight terrorist threats.

Add the second thing they will do is raise taxes and the third thing is to cause a constitutional crisis.

The screams of outrage are proof positive of the success of this approach.

Senator Mitch McConnel has it right.

Yes, it does seem to be well timed rhetoric. I wish they would've been speaking this way along time, but maybe they are saving thier best lines for the upcoming elections.

The dems can't save any rhetorical ammunition, it's like a steady stream of BB's. Rumsfeld Bush and co. dropped the bomb on the dems with these latest comments.

"Democratic Senator Joe Biden of Delaware said Rumsfeld had gone "too far." "He knew exactly what he was doing, the only similarity I find between this war and World War II is that this war is shortly going to have lasted as long as World War II," Biden told ABC's "This Week."

Yes, Joe, and the Bush bashing and Anti-American propaganda your party has engaged in from two weeks after 9/11 until today has slowed the progress in this war immensley. In WWII we had a nation completely unified to the goal of defeating the enemy. Today we have liberal idiots trying to derail the war against our enemies and playing into the hands of the Islamo-facists. Shame on you Joey for lying to the American people.

Now, for the next questions, Do you feel that the terrorists have been encouraged by the Americans who oppose a Free Iraq? By opposing the President, do you feel at all responsible for prolonging the war?
Both questions require a yes or no answer.

I heard the donks are wanting to add a new flag to every federal building in the country. They are working on a bill WSDHU2006 (we surrender don't hurt us) that would allow a plain white flag 12' x 24' to be flown ABOVE the American Flag.

I read on another site an interesting observation: The dems are livid with Bush, et al, regarding the Nazi comparison. Yet, when one of their own, Senator Dick Durbin/Turbin stood in the well of the senate and accused our troops of acting like the Nazi's, there was not a single word of outrage by the democrats. I hope that the pubbies will have this little factoid in their pocket when the dems take to the senate floor, under the leadership (gag) of Senator Boxer to condemn Rummy and go for a vote of no confidence. I surely hope the pubbies have the brass ones ready, the dems deserve to taken to task on Turbin/Durbin's comments and his slander of our troops. Hopefully they are or will be ready. After watching Santorum today it appears the pubbies are ready for battle....and they better be strong.

1) Without question. Dissention in the ranks always emboldens an enemy

2) I do not oppose the president, not quite sure where you got that idea. I oppose the people who make us fight this war with a hand tied behind our backs. Dropping leaflets before we bomb, for example. Dumbest idea ever.

I broke my rule today, based on what other freepers said about how Santorum performed on MTP, and watched Fat Dim Tim. Santorum was awesome....he only let Fat Dim Tim interrupt him once, that I could tell, and he was clear, consice, to the point, well spoken, sincere, and strong. After seeing the two side-by-side, folks in PA cannot in good conscience vote for the whimp. Strenth wins, and Santorum showed it today, big time.

I am glad I did...it makes me feel better about Santorum's chances...Casey is a DNC "robot" that just spouts talking points..

It was so funny when he "accused" Rick of being a rubber stamp for the POTUS....when everything he said was the exact same thing that EVERY other dem has said recently.

It is widely known and believed throughout America (outside Oklahoma and a few other irrationally conservative states) that President Bush already clearly ranks as the worst ever and is morally inferior to Adolf Hitler. For a Bush administration official operating within the logical framework of that indisputable Truth to blast our enemies as fascist is the height of hypocrisy and insanity. Those among us who still cling to the thoroughly discredited philosophy of political conservatism might disregard the Democrats' rhetoric as the ramblings of psychotics in a mental institution.

But to the overwhelming majority of the American people, under the incessant barrage of the Truth from the ostensibly nonpartisan press or so destitute that they cannot afford those media, President Bush practices every evil associated with Fascism and Nazism and worse. Vice president Cheney to these people represents the Incarnation of Satan. Bush transformed himself into a demon, under orders from Cheney, possessed an otherwise innocent Muhammad Atta, and conspired to kill thousands of Americans on 11 September 2001. He committed these massacres to start a war for oil that has proved a miserable failure--just look at gasoline prices--but enriched his greedy crony friends in the oil industry at the needless expense of extinguishing hundreds of thousands of lives. The Democrats have appeased these demonic fascists through overly conciliatory rhetoric, especially after elections that the Democrats should have won. The Democrats would have prevailed in 2000 and 2004 if only the Republicans had not stolen the elections through the time-tested but incredibly devious technique of convincing more Americans to vote Republican than the Democrats could fabricate for their candidates.

Our partisan enemies and their fellow enemies of the United States abroad operate from this worldview. Perhaps recognizing these Truths will enable us to understand the Democratic rhetoric and to forge new talking points that logically fall within their logical framework. I'm not sure how we possibly could wage the 2006 or 2008 elections successfully, but the Republican party must recognize now that second-term presidential campaigns always represent a failure. We need a presidential candidate not tainted by this Administration who can maintain good media relations. I'm thinking McCain or Guiliani or even the corrupt Chaffee-style liberal George Pataki.

I just watched "V for Vendetta" on pay-per-view, and I must say that, regardless of how heavy-handed it was, the movie represents the left-wing point of view about things. For me personally, I could never get my head around why the lefties would want us to lose in Iraq. But after seeing the movie, I think I understand. Not that I agree with the point of view, but it did open my eyes to how the left sees the war on terror.

First of all, they think that the real purpose of the war is not to kill Islamic Fascists, but to provide a pretext for collapsing civil liberties so that political subversives, minorities and gays can be rounded up and placed into detention camps and tortured and killed. Please don't laugh. They actually believe this. They also believe that the terrorist threat is nonexistent, fabricated by the right wing in order to solidify our hold on power. Why we should have such a difficult time winning a war we made up from whole cloth is beyond me, but that's not my point.

I think they truly fear a win in Iraq because they think it will empower the Republicans to go even further in limiting civil liberties, attacking gays, torturing dissidents, etc. And so they are basically doing everything in their power to snatch defeat from the throes of victory.

To the extreme left, anyone, including Muslims who enslave women and strap bombs to their children, who resists American force is a "freedom fighter." I know it sound convoluted, but having read numerous posts at Dimwit Underground and Arrianna Post I can say that it is so.

Therefore, the only answer is to use the Patriot Act to find out who these lefties are, round them up and send them all to Guantanamo, and force them to put underwear on their heads. We might as well make their wildest dreams come true.
