The upside may be that a Communist Mexico will soon give us the excuse to send the US Army down there to solve their problem once and for all. We should not have left the last time we sent the Army there, but it did at least provide excellent training for the regular Army leader in the Civil War. This time the regular Army is well trained from Iraq and Afghanistan.

But the sad part is, they will probably still be in Iraq and Afghanistan come '08.

What about raising a volunteer force, trained by Army vets, supplied by loyal Americans and from the fruits of a 'scorched earth' policy, and getting paid by donations(and pillage).

Then send them down when they are at least as well trained as Regulars so they can gain combat experience in preparation for the inevitable try by our left to really take over the gov't.

Oh, and we should go in once there is a visible 'loser' and support them, that way if we win, we'll be able to have a better time taking over than if we had sided with the stronger of the two.

The bloodiest war ever fought in North America was the Mexican Revolution of 1910-1917. I've read estimates of up to 3 million deaths in that bloodbath. It's the memory of this disaster that has helped keep the civil peace in Mexico since then. Unfortunately memories fade and history may repeat itself. Such a tragedy.

Good morning.
"Unfortunately memories fade and history may repeat itself. Such a tragedy."

Beyond the passing of time, we also have Chavez & Fidel stirring the pot.

Chavez will be able to provide AKs and RPGs. Maybe Katyushas as well. It might get interesting along the border.

One of the reasons that the PRI was able to maintain it's power so long was that Mexicans valued stability over democracy during most of the last century. Their brief democratic experiment in the early 20th century ended in catastrophe. Now, once again, we see the prospects of similar disaster. Pobre Mexico.

Have you ever noticed how leftists all sound alike? They whine about everything. They just can't accept that people prefer someone else to them! It sounds like the beginning of a civil war to me too. I hope we're wrong because they will pour across the border if the shooting starts.

You must be dreaming. Annexing Mexico! Do you want to add 100 million Mexicans to the USA. Imagine the welfare payments and cost of raising up the standard of living in Mexico. That would be worse than when Germany was reunited and the Germans spent trillions on the old DDR.

Mexico's leftist opposition leader said on Sunday he will never recognize his right-wing rival as president and vowed a "radical transformation" of the country by setting up a parallel government.

Leftists/socialists like Obrador are revolutionaries. If the electoral process gets them where they want to go, fine. If not, reach for the pistola. Thus Obrador's promise to destabilize Mexico (in effect launch a revolution) is no surprise at all.

"The Democrats cannot accept loss".

The idea is to create the perception that the system is rigged against the people. It is classic Marx. Don't make the error of seeing liberals as loyal opposition, or muslims as harmless primitive religionists. They hate and fear each other, but both hate us more. If we don't start fighting like our lives depend on it we are "goners".
And then, there are the globalists, looks like no one likes a free man, any more.

After reading other posts, I think der commies are at our border. Time for a wall. Do not let the sympathizers fool you into thinking the wall won't work. A wall complicates their plans immeasurably.

Methinks Chavez and Castro are accommodating the poor masses in Mexico. They are setting the stage for a Marxist revolution which will may way for the overthrow of democracy and the implementation of communism. The transformation may happen faster than we can imagine. Marxism is a catalyst that under the right conditions, can make things go quick and easy. Democracies take a lot more time and energy.

Do you remember the Clintoon administrations mantra, that since the cold war was over, we should open trade with Cuban and Vietnam, not to mention the MFN trading status for China. There is a worldwide leftist-communist conspiracy afoot.

"There is a worldwide leftist-communist conspiracy afoot".

Yeah, but don't forget to watch for incoming crap from the other side!
Fundamentally, what we face is a bunch of wannabee aristocrats, convinced that we will drown in our own slop, if we lack their "enlightened" guidance, right wing, left wing, from the center, the difference doesn't matter, one arrogant Ahole looks much like any other.
