A STORM of fury has erupted over Germaine Greer's criticism of Steve Irwin barely hours after his death.
The expat Aussie, known more these days for her regular bashing of her homeland, fired pot shots at Irwin within hours of news spreading across the globe that he'd been fatally stabbed by a stingray.
Australian leaders, experienced animal handlers and Irwin's friends were outraged, saying Greer was looking to boost her flagging literary career.
In a scathing attack in a British newspaper, Greer said nature had taken its revenge on Irwin for his robust handling of Australia's native animals.
Mocking Irwin's multi-million-dollar empire and his "Crikey!" catch-cry, Greer accused the world-famous TV star of placing the welfare of animals after his own interests.
"There was not an animal he was not prepared to manhandle," she wrote in The Guardian.
"Every creature he brandished at the camera was in distress.
"Every snake badgered by Irwin was at a huge disadvantage, with only a single possible reaction to its terrifying situation -- which was to strike.
"Easy enough to avoid if you know what's coming."
The author of The Female Eunuch hit below the belt as she accused Irwin of sending the wrong message to kids.

I was never a fan of Irwin's schtick, but he didn't seem like a bad guy. Certainly didn't deserve to be raked over the coals so soon after his departure.

She hates, because that's what she does. Her books were diatribes against life, and what she hated about Irwin was that he was happy and productive, and that he payed little attention to bitter people who get their only pleasures from the misfortunes of others.
I read this earlier, and the more I thought about it, the angrier I became. How dare she. Irwin did more for Conservation in one day than this bitch did in her entire life. I HATE THESE PEOPLE..I HATE THEM. There was an thread earlier about kids offering up opinions on Irwin's death. One of them said, "Why Steve, why not Sean Connery?" I say, "Why Steve, why not Germaine Greer?"

I had never heard of this broad until now. What a despicable, spiteful, hateful broad this Greer is. Unlike Irwin, she must be living a very unhappy and empty life.

I don't know if you've ever had a chance to hear Dennis Prager's radio show but he did an hour on Steve Irwin today I thought you and others might be interested in,
He talked about Steve's passion and joy of what he did and how that infected others. You can tell he really thinks a lot of Mr. Irwin. Pass this around to other Aussies as well.
As far as this old expat Australian hag, she's just jealous that she's never had a joyful day in her life. Steve Irwin will be remembered for a long, long time. When she passes on, no one will care.
