JAPAN'S Princess Kiko gave birth today to a baby boy the first male heir to be born into the ancient imperial family in more than four decades, Japanese media reported.
Princess Kiko, 39, the wife of the emperor's younger son, Prince Akishino, gave birth by Caesarean section after complications in her pregnancy, public broadcaster NHK said.
The child will be third in line to the throne after crown prince Naruhito, the baby's uncle, and his father, Akishino.
The birth is likely to stall debate on revising the 1947 imperial succession law to allow women to inherit the Japanese throne.
No royal males had been born since the baby's father in 1965.

Didn't I see an "itsumo" (always) in there somewhere?? Hence: "I pray that God will ALWAYS bless you"??. It is a real question!! I know maybe eight words of Japanese, but I know how to recombine them endlessly so that they sound REALLY impressive!!
:)
My wife is Japanese, and says that she is not sure how she feels about the birth of the prince. I think she was sort-of hoping that a woman would get a chance to sit upon the throne.

I'm a lazy translator. Believe me, I have blindly stormed through translating important journal submissions written by important Japanese professors, and the $50 every 250 words somehow STILL made its way to my doorstep. But now I teach at a 98% black high school in the Deep South. Truth is stranger than fiction.
My wife is Japanese too, and she really has no feelings about the whole matter. She shrinks from singing "Kimi ga yo," but she loves the "Star Spangled Banner." She LOVES WAL-MART and TARGET. Like I said though, I was hoping Aiko would make it to the throne, but on second thought, it would probably inspire some military hijinx from China and North Korea (If they still exist when she attained the throne).

Wakari (verb root) masu (Honorific positive)
