To all Freepers and all Florida Voters, I issue my thoughts and feelings about this Florida Primary, a campaign of which I myself have no vote in ! ---------------------------------------------------------
Congresswoman Katherine Harris has waged a long hard run for the GOP nomination for the seat of U.S. Senator from Florida, now occupied by incumbent Democrat Bill Nelson .
As many of you on this forum know, Katherine lost her dear beloved father George Harris earliar this year . The loss of a father takes an emotional toll, even in the advanced years of one's life .
I would say to the detractor's of Harris, especially those who have claimed extreme difficulty in working around her in the last few months, , , please take into account all that has happend and all that has thrown in front of her goal for higher office, a goal she has turned down more than once for the sake of party loyalty - - a loyalty that has not been reciprocated by the RNC leadership - -
Rep Katherine Harris is human, like us all, and like all of us, she makes mistakes, we can be difficult to work with, intemperate, short with others .
For all good conservatives and all good people in Florida, let us not fall down the DemonCrat path of petty spite over past slights ~ lets us all join together to fight the good fight, win or lose - -
let us act honorably and decently,
Do not let what the Libs and Lefties have done to so many of us decent Americans corrupt us into their way of thinking and doing ~ let us prove we are the Good People, The Crats are The Bad .
what she meant to say was that we should vote for Good Christians and not hide our faith !

What do we have to be ashamed of ? Afraid of ? The Boogeymen of the ADL and ACLU ?
If we let the Liberals and Lefties (whom hyprocritcally use Black Christian Leadership for political gain), bully us around, then they, the DemoCrats and their henchmen in the Media will always bully us around . .
Katherine Harris on that HARDBALL interview stated that she encourages all people of faith to participate in the Democratic Process . . .

Beyond that, why did not Jeb Bush or Tommy Franks not enter this race for U.S. Senate ?
Many in this forum have forwarded the weak and craven explantion that these two poweful and respected men are afraid of Rep Katherine Harris and her supporters .
B@ll$hit - - they could not have gotten where they are now by being so easily intimidated by opposition - - political or otherwise . . . .
Well, since Harris is the candidate I'll support her because I'd love to see a win for the Republicans.
However, excuses don't cut it in my book.
Better to just say, "I was wrong to act in such and such a manner" and then apologize.
In a "regular job" if we acted "difficult to work with, intemperate, and short with others"...we'd probably be fired.
Good Rant.. .I voted for her today and she has my 100 percent support... Personally I think that Nelson is weak and as long as the GOP gets out and votes she will most likely win. My opinion most of these negative polls are MSM induced to supress GOP turnout... I don't buy any of them who in America in their right mind would vote for a Democrat that all they spout is hate Bush but have no plan for anything... and any Republican that is a one issue (Immigration) voter needs to switch parties and see if the Dems or the Libertarines have better answers.

Yes, but even with 100% of all GOP voters voting for Harris, does that guarantee she will win ?
Also, some in the Media have speculated that there maybe a low GOP voter turnout - - perhaps for reasons you've stated ?
I prefer people who are honest warts and all, than those who are slick and charming for appearance purposes. I really like and admire Catherine Harris. She'll be fine.

What I was refering to was former campaign staff who've been making some heavy criticisms of her management style;
micromanaging, short temperedness, ignoring advice, etc
I am not going to debate the merits of these gripes, it is not my place, and I am not there in Florida myself !
And yes, she should privately apologize to some of her staff, current and former . .
Some staff...there were more turnovers during the campaign than during an NFL game.
Like I said, she won, fair and square, I'll support her. But there is definitely a problem, somewhere, and she needs to figure out how to "get a grip" and stop it with the staffing problems.

Personally I think that Nelson is weak and as long as the GOP gets out and votes she will most likely win.I'm tempted by this proposition. Right now, at tradesports, you get 20-1 betting on Harris. A hundred dollars will get you 2000. I'm tempted.
(I won big in 2004 betting on Bush right when the fake early-exit polling was predicting a Kerry landslide and the odds on Bush suddenly went long.)
Man, are you wrong. She has zero chance of beating Nelson. The Republican party told her she had no chance. She is a bull-headed spoiled brat. Believe me, it is a family trait. I will vote for her, but her career deserves to be OVER after this race. She can go stand next to Dan Quayle. She is a net negative for the party. She has no talent. She has trouble with accepting bad news. And she doesn't appear to be able to tell truth from fantasy. Yuck!

As an aside, though, I suspect that Nelson will be high on the Dem list for the VP nomination. They need Florida, and Nelson would likely deliver it.
That is actually all the more reason to vote for Harris. Nelson's gotta get past Harris in order to have any chance of being on the Dem ticket in 08.

Something you say doesn't compute. Harris has never lost an election. She has been a State senator, the Florida Secretary of State, and a twice-elected Congresswoman. She just won the Rep primary with about 50% of the vote and a victory margin of 185,000 votes over her nearest challenger. In sum, she has been a winner throughout her public career.
Why is she a net negative for the party? Because the MSM and Dems have demonized her because of Gore's loss in Florida in 2000? I also don't buy your premise that Quayle is another Rep pariah.

Money doesn't always buy elections nor does "pride and privilege." You give her no credit for her ability to appeal to the voters. She has been a successful politician who is a proven winner.
She has very little support at this level and she is costing us a chance at a Senate seat. Short of a stroke, I don't see how Nelson can lose to Rep. Harris.
Forget the previous polls. Harris is now the candidate running against Nelson. It will be a tough battle against an incumbent, but Harris has demonstrated the pluck and courage to challenge the establishment and win using grassroot efforts.
On all of these Harris threads, I find it interesting that most of the naysayers about Harris come from outside Florida and the supporters are Floridians. You are one of the exceptions.
She was fine at the State level. She was over her head at the congressional level. She is completely out of her league at the Senate level. She will lose badly to an upopular incumbant who could have easiliy been defeated by a good candidate. Harris will lose by at least twenty points and she will attract almost no party support. It was the Republican party experts who were telling her she could not win, not the media.
She just won the Rep primary by 185,000 votes over her nearest challenger and garnered 50% of the vote. Somebody in the Rep party in Florida supports her. Half of the current US Senators are out of their league. We will see what happens in November, but it is a bit early to concede defeat. The game just started yesterday.

I don't think he was in your terminology "way out of his league." The MSM tried to create a caricature of him in much the same way they did with Ford, Reagan, Bush 41, and 43. GOP Presidents and VPs are dumb, racist, puppets who are not suited for the job. I have met Qualye and heard him speak at a small gathering. He is articulate, bright, and funny. Just because the MSM made a big deal out of the spelling of the word potato doesn't make him "out of his league." What incredibly stupid things did he say?
Rep. Harris does well at women's clubs. That seems to be the total extent of her support and they constitute an echo chamber for her. Their voices seem to be the only ones she can listen too. I will vote for her, but I am a party line voter. If people like me were a majority, perhaps she could be elected. But I don't admire her, even a little.
I think you seriously underestimate her appeal to voters. She may not win, but it will be a much closer race than the polls and her detractors think.
We in the grass-root movement here came out in droves voting for Governor Jeb Bush and President Bush in 2002 and 2004!
We will certainly do the same for Kathrine Harris Florida being a Red State!!
I saw somewhere that just in MIAMI-DADE she pulled in over 60%!!!

I don't care what the MSM says, I want to know why she was constantly losing staff members during the campaign. One or two staff members quit, I can understand, personality conflict or the like. Regular turnover of staff members during a campaign and the problem is not with the staff members, it's with the candidate, IMHO.

Me to. I also voted for her and will stand by her. I will pray to our Lord that although she has a tough battle ahead of her, she can defeat the good-for-nothing, fox in sheeps clothing, Bill Nelson.
He already said he was going to vote for her. Some of the Harris defenders on this forum appear to be as crazy as she is, and in complete denial of reality. You're building up such fanaticism that your heads are going to explode when she loses in November.
She's not getting support from the Bush crowd because she is not a globalist.

I said I'd support her, but she also has a responsibility to her supporters to get her act together as far as staffing problems and turnovers.
If she has any chance at all of winning, things will have to go a lot smoother during this phase of the campaign than they did during the last.
She's not just playing to the "home" crowd anymore.
