I find it strange that he would speak at 1:45 rather than prime time. Were it a national emergency, why not go on immediately. If it's of major import, why not wait until tonight.

Bush to unveil plan for Gitmo trials.

The White House asked television networks for live coverage of Bush's announcement later Wednesday.

Maybe that's it, he's come up with a signoff for Katie to use tonight:
"I'm Katie Couric, UP YOURS AMERICA."

LOL. Time after time, peaceful transitions of power from one party to another, and you talk like it's Boris Yeltsin on the top of a tank ready to take over the Duma.
Those politicians talk a bitter game, but away from the cameras they're still as collegial as ever. They're kinda like stock brokers, buy or sell, the broker makes money. Democrats or GOP in charge, they still get all their perks.

This is all speculation on my part, but besides the soaps, Rush is on at 1:45pm.
Tony is savvy enough to know that if the speech is important, Rush will play it through is show, along with his unique brand of commentary afterwards.

Gosh, I hope it's not anything about Rumsfeld. I heard his surgery went well, and Tony Snow said the other day that Pres. Bush has no intention of replacing him. And the WH Josh Bolten responded strongly to the dems' stupid letter demanding he be replaced. Hmmmmm.

Waiting could mean they're waiting on an announcement from another party/country, or possibly confirmation, although I don't think they'd announce his speech before confirmation of anything "big."
And if it was anything "big"...wouldn't we on FR already know about it? LOL.

This is a planned speech. It's been announced all morning on FNC. I *think* they said that it's the 2nd of 3 planned speeches on the WOT.
To: No Blue States
This is possibly going to be one of the least interesting speeches possible.

First thing Clinton went for in 1993 was gays in the military (payback).
Second thing was Hillarycare.
The socialized services agenda cannot be undone once implemented.
Incrementalism gets it done but for some on the left, too little is being accomplished and some thought they had more time to accomplish their goals.
I haven't said anything about this becoming a one party nation. I have said that their socialized agenda will be implemented without delay the next time they have the opportunity.

Bush to unveil plan for Gitmo trialsDoesn't seem like a good enough reason to break into daytime TV. I would, however, like to see a speech like he gave yesterday to the Military Officers Association of America -- it deserves prime time. Whereas yesterday's speech highlighted and detailed reasons for our actions in the WOT and Iraq, today's speech will more likely draw attention to the failure of his policy on detainees and give the Rats more ammo to point out failed policies from a failed president.

If we got Osama, he'd better be dead, and not returning to the U.S. for trial.
That would be a circus to end all circuses. And we would be in greater danger than ever, with him sitting in an American jail issuing more fatwas.
