Setting the Record Straight: Detainees Will Not Receive POW Status
The White House ^ | 9/6/06

Some Reports Claim "High-Value Detainees Will Be Given Prisoner-Of-War Status."

But Neither The President's Proposed Legislation Nor The Detainees' Transfer To Guantanamo Gives The Detainees POW Status

The President's Legislation Specifically Authorizes The Creation Of Military Commissions To Try These Suspected Terrorists For War Crimes. The Bill ensures that these commissions are established in a way that protects our national security and ensures a full and fair trial for the accused.

Detainees Have Been Transferred To The Custody Of The Department Of Defense, At The U.S. Naval Base At Guantanamo Bay.

Neither The President's Proposed Legislation Nor The Detainees' Transfer To Guantanamo Gives The Detainees POW Status. # # #

MSM, too stupid to know the various classifications under the Geneva conventions. They assume anyone classified under them is a POW. Never heard of unlawful combatants.

This is exactly what I have been saying about the legal status of the Gitmo detainees for about 3 years. The MSM, of course, gets the story wrong. They've never read the Geneva Conventions, which they repeatedly and piously refer to. And, they've never bothered to consider the Law of War, under which both Nathan Hale and Major John Andre were tried and executed.

What a pack of maroons.

But the Democrats in the House and Senate will be forced either to vote for the terrorists, or for America. So be it.

the Conventions dictate that anyone caught fighting out of uniform or in the wrong uniform may be shot out of hand...
That is a law we can live with.....

Like I've said several times today (elsewhere), I can hardly wait for the hangings.

It's interesting that the Comsympliberalbottomfeedingscumsuckers were demanding this, and now it's going to kill the beneficiaries.

Stuff happens eh!
