March 2003 Document: Saddam Orders Iraq Central Bank to Give his Son 1 Billion Dollars (Translation)
Pentagon/FMSO website for Iraq Pre-war documents http://70.168.46.200/ ^ | September 7 2006 | jveritas

Posted on 09/07/2006 7:42:11 AM PDT by jveritas

Document http://70.168.46.200/Released/09-06-06/CMPC-2004-001648.pdf dated March/19/2003 is hand written order from Saddam Hussein to the governor of Iraq Central Bank to give his son Qusay Saddam Hussein and another crony named Hikmat Mazban Ibrahim a total of ONE Billion Dollars so it will be protected from what he called the “American Aggression”. Of course this money was meant to be smuggled to some foreign secret bank accounts for Saddam family. This money was found by the US troops shortly after the fall of Saddam regime and handed later on to the free Iraqi government.

Thank you : ). Do you remember the big truck that our troops captured shortly after the liberation of Iraq where they found many metallic boxes containing this one billion dollars?

Here is the New York Times article back in May 2003 about the 1 billion dollars taken by Qusay Saddam Hussein from the Iraqi Central bank. http://www.papillonsartpalace.com/husseins.htm

You right "rightinthemiddle", it seems according the New York Times articles that not all the money was recovered by the US troops.

Dear Mr. Hussein,

We appreciate your business with our most merciful bank. Unfortunately, we will require two forms of i.d. and the maiden name of your mother. Would you like to participate in our identity secure system? For only $4.99 a month we will notify by email or camel if any entity attempts to maliciously acquire your funds or access your account.

Warmest regards to you and Allah
Governor of the Bank of Iraq.

More good work jveritas. This document should be brought to the attention of the media even though they'll probably not report it. Every additional piece of info shows just how corrupt Saddam and his cronies were.

Heck if I remember.....LOL

But the post in it's entirety looked too familiar, which drew my comment.

IIRC, they recovered about 700,000 of it, which funded the initial temporary government and paid the salaries of the Iraqi military until it was spent.

It really says something when it's so much paper money that you couldn't walk off with it all. It certainly would be a temptation to have a spare million or two stuck to your shoe or something . . .

Part of my brief against journalism is its insistence that the only thing that matters is what it wants to talk abut. And what journalism wants to talk about is how important the news is - thereby suggesting that nothing matters after it is no longer new. Nothing matters to them except what is so new that they have an information advantage over the rest of us.

They have no interest in actually informing, their only interest is in self promotion.
