I watched Perky Katie for her first five minutes tonight- first time I've watched one of the three "major" network's news in probably ten years.
Had to shut it off after five minutes when one of the first segments featured a retired Army(?) officer who has "voted Republican" all his life, but is voting the straight Democrat ticket this year, listing his reasons why, for the benefit of the "undecided" in the viewing adudience.
It'll be another ten years before I watch again.
I think grown ups can watch Katie without fear. What is this thing that nobody should lay eyes on the wretched ex cheerleader. You give her power by acting like she is so important and persuasive that one's mind is at risk watching. Knowing one's enemy is important for those with the stomach.
I thought Rush did a great job, and no need to watch CBS!

I will not watch it, period. He's helping cBS' ratings and I just can't bring myself to participate in any fashion.

When the critics are more interested in punishing this country over a few incidents at Abu Ghraib and Guantanamo Bay than they are in defeating those who want to kill us; when they seek to destroy a foreign surveillance program which is designed to identify those who want to kill us and how they intend to do it; when they want to grant those who want to kill us U.S. constitutional rights, I don't call that patriotic. Patriotism is rallying behind the country, regardless of party affiliation to defeat Islamofascism. Patriotism is supporting our troops in the battlefield, not undermining the mission and morale. Let there be no doubt about this: America will prevail. We're the same country that survived a bloody civil war, defeated the Nazis and the Soviets. Each generation has a responsibility to the next, our generation will not disappoint.
I'll ping everyone I know here. I taped Perky Katie's SeeBS show tonight and fast forwarded to Rush's segment. That's all I was interested in... his comments were excellent. Hope Rush woke up a few of the sheeple out there...

Yeah, what is amazing is the depth of the craziness at CBS. It is something I had not anticipated,,,I know, I know,,what was I thinking.
But people around here sometimes act like damned fascists telling people that they shouldn't even check something out for crying out loud. It irritates me no end.
Very 'queer'. Like as if they really believe there's different versions of the news... not just their spin vs. the truth... I'm talking actual, different versions for both, political parties.
I watched the first night. For me, that was more than enough. To be honest, I wasn't sitting in the cheering section to begin with.
I don't think Couric or CBS much care what posters here think or say about them. They kinda expect we're praying for a real news editor like Brit Hume to pop up on the network. I don't think they're going to permit that cork to pop.
I think Couric is important and persuasive, at least for the pep squad that made the move with her. Maybe in a month or so, after the jitters and rough edges smooth out, we'll find out whether or not she has any staying power, whether or not she is important, and whether or not she has persuasive influence on those who tune in.
I tend to think she won't make the transition from flaky bakey gossipy morning entertainment. But then, I don't know. I don't watch her show.
Never saw three seconds of Couric, on any show she was ever on. Why should I start watching her now.
(I've only seen her on news clips in which she was the subject)

I wonder if she will stay,,I don't think so but I never thought I would see that state of CBS now. It just astounds me.
They also identified Rush as a Radio TalkShow Host. Rush made it sound like they had asked him because he's a conservative vice. Funny how that didn't make the titles. If they had thought he was being stupid they would have made him look like a Bush advisor. But since he did so well - just a radio guy.

True to form CBS found such a person, surprise, surprise, who claimed to have voted for republicans all his life, twice for GWB, but the next election would vote for the dems hoping to change the majority in the house. Couldn't reach my remote quick enough to listen to Brit and promised myself never to make that mistake again.

Thanks, but luckily these programming execs are predictable enough that I pinned the exact moment he appeared and didn't have to wait through Katie to see Rush. I turned it on, Rush was there, then clicked off when he was done.
A word to CBS, you really ought to consider mixing highly valued segments (admittedly you have so few) so that people are forced to watch the majority of the broadcast to catch what they are tuning in for.

Simply put - I love it.
I'm watching but I'm also going to document her program in detail. The days of seeBS pulling it's routine without be called on it every day are over.
