Congressional Republicans
King Features Syndicate / Tifton Gazette ^ | September 6, 2006 | Charley Reese

(snip)

Most Democrats are leftists and socialists, and most of their rhetoric reflects that, as do the issues they support. Most Republicans, however, are big fat hypocrites who campaign as conservatives when in fact, judged by their actions and their votes, they are no more conservative than Pol Pot or Karl Marx.

A true conservative would balance the budget, would vote against all foreign aid and would practice an isolationist foreign policy. A true conservative would make sure corporations pay their fair share of taxes, would cut out all subsidies to bug business and would take whatever steps were necessary to stop the shipping of manufacturing jobs overseas and the import of vast numbers of illegal aliens, who are a source of cheap labor.

Most of these windbags in both parties have only two skills; conning voters and raising money from lobbyists. Most of them couldn't manage a small law firm or even run a successful hot dog stand.

(snip)

We are a nation of 300 million people. It's shameful that these 535 nabobs are the best we can do to run the government.

(snip)

And all of them, Americans must never forget, are just the temporary hired help. They are not our lords and masters. They are hired help who are supposed to work within the strict limits of the Constitution.

(snip)

These politicians don't respect you. They think you are dumb (after all, you keep voting for them). Well, if they won't respect you, then the next best thing is for them to fear you, and the way to do that is to demonstrate their jobs are in perpetual jeopardy. Election Day can be a revolution if the American people choose to make it one.

Go to the link and read the rest. I don't agree with all of it, but it makes you think.

Isn't King Features best known for their comics?

"Warns against the party system. "It serves to distract the Public Councils, and enfeeble the Public Administration....agitates the Community with ill-founded jealousies and false alarms; kindles the animosity of one....against another....it opens the door to foreign influence and corruption...thus the policy and the will of one country are subjected to the policy and will of another."

The Founders had it ALL correct, including that thing about folks who don't own property not getting to vote.

The Constitution and Bill of Rights are NOT "living documents" either. There is no freedom "from" religion. All guns are good. The government is to be open and accountable to the people on all issues, especially including the public purse. Property rights overrule government interference.

..."binding the monster of government with the chains of the Constitution" is a concept long forgotten in this nation.

Generally, when I have a typo, it tends to be a doozy!

Good eyes!

WHAT! I'm a "true conservative" and I wouldn't support either of those issues. That statement is from someone who is a LIBERTARIAN - NOT A CONSERVATIVE.

Aw phooey. A "true conservative" is just that, conservative.

What that word means is that they are not excitable people who run off madly in all directions even though agitators (activists) want them to. They are *generally* comfortable with the status quo, and support it. This does not mean that they are pleased with everything, but that they are content that *gradual* change, one way or another, is all that is really needed.

"Don't fix was isn't broken."

True conservatives have few illusions that the world can become an ideal place if we all just clap our hands for Tinkerbell, like John Dean believes. Nor do they believe that years ago, people were all patriotic, noble, polite, decent, and generally wonderful; or that our nation can somehow return to this fantastic-nostalgic past that never was.

That's a true conservative. And no matter how much the agitators of all stripes want them to hurry up, they are in no hurry. "But you'll miss all the excitement!", they cry.

True conservatives want a government that governs, not an acting troupe that runs a soap opera/comedy-variety show to entertain.

A true conservative would never equate Republicans to Pol Pot and Karl Marx.
