The Talk Shows
Sunday, September 10th, 2006
Guests to be interviewed today on major television talk shows:
FOX NEWS SUNDAY (Fox Network): Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice ; Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean; Jim Laychak, president of the Pentagon Memorial Fund.
MEET THE PRESS (NBC): Vice President Dick Cheney.
FACE THE NATION (CBS): Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice; New York Gov. George Pataki; Sen. Charles Schumer, D-N.Y.
THIS WEEK (ABC): 9/11 Commission members Thomas Kean, Richard Ben-Veniste, Jamie Gorelick, John Lehman; Sept. 11 widow and activist Gene Steuerle.
LATE EDITION (CNN) : Rice; Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass.; Said Tayeb Jawad, Afghanistan's ambassador to the U.S.; U.N. Deputy Secretary-General Mark Malloch Brown; Iraq national security adviser Mowaffak al-Rubaie; Brian Jenkins, RAND Corp.; John Miller, FBI spokesman.
I'm betting the 9/11 mini series will only get mentioned on Stephie's show.
Sharansky on cspan conflicts with Fox Sunday. Hmm? Guess I already know what they are going to say on Fox. I'll go with Sharansky.
Right now Charlie Cook is on cspan telling viewers that democrats are 9-13% ahead in everybody's polls. They are SO wrong!
Funny. I haven't seen any polls lately indicating that.
Russert was good & respectful to the VP immediately after Sepember 11-nth, though I doubt he would show that respect today as he is aligned with the liberals nowadays. [Russert lost a million more viewers since that & may be he could get that today, not because of him but of Cheney.]
Wallace exposed himself on F&F(he is "outraged" about that ABC documentary & Disney was cruel to his father) that he won't stay long if Fox is after ratings. Howard Dean on this day?
Meanwhile, ABC[Approved By Clinton] Network want to revive those "dead 9/11 commission" alive.
Where is McCain who came forward to defend Ted Koppel on ABC when many were outraged by his slander of Fallen Soldiers?
Charlie Cook & MSM keep shouting that democrats are energized like never before & it 's going to be doom & gloom for republicans.
Meanwhile just this week, in Florida Republican primary, 968,210 turned out to give Charlie Crist the Gubernatorial nomination.
Only 850,548 Democats turned out to give Jim Davis the Democratic nomination. (that was 37% turnout dropoff in the FL Dem GOV primary from '02 to '06.)
Statewide GOP turnout outpaces Dem turnout by at least 120,000... in the primary nonetheless.
Even pollsters, who supposedly deal in numbers, never let a few facts get in their way!!!!
If the DBM were interested in higher ratings they'd want a close, exciting election. Instead they're beating the drum about a Democratic landslide. Shows you what their priorities really are.
You 're exactly right, mainepatsfan. Just watched the MSNBC's election coverage & immediately switched channels. They 've started to live in their own paradise, just like the last hours in 2004 election. And the same Charlie Cook predicted Kerry victory a month before.
Check the Fox poll!
All of these pollsters "weight" their responses and give more weight to dem answers. They will begin to shout 'fraud' Tuesday night, November 7, when the real polls close.
Hell they all but declared Kerry the winner on election day based on the exit polls.
The MSM and even a few conservative commentators have all but handed the House to the RATS. Most are Inside the Beltway types who live and breathe the current spin on the cocktail circuit. They made the same mistake in '02 and '04. Methinks there'll be a lot of red faces come Wednesday, November 8.
Good morning, Alas. Looking forward to seeing the Vice President (or Darth Cheney, LOL) this morning.
Good Sunday morning, Alas and everyone. Thanks to this thread and intelligent freepers, I don't have to watch most of the shows but still get the real news.
Thank you and please keep us updated. Is there anything critical that Clintonites were shouting about?
The part the Clintonoids were so upset about is the a scene in which they call off a hit on Bin Laden when they have him within their sights. If you don't see it then we know Disney cut it.
Looks like ABC is a write off. Talk about "Fair and Balanced!" LOL
He also talked a bit about how polls are less accurate than they were, say, 10 years ago.
At least football prognosticators will admit they blew a call, like me picking Penn State over Notre Dame yesterday. ;^)
What all these "experts" keep overlooking is that the GOP has not really started their campaign. The RATS have been running theirs for nearly two years. I think Dubya is gonna turn Rove loose in the next two or three weeks, and BAM!
Good morning Anita: your post was so timely; I was on hold on cspan to ask Charlie Cook a couple of questions, and I threw this little factoid to ask him if he thought this demonstrated the trend that republicans are really getting their vote out. His answer was he wasn't really sure, but that he would watch it to see if the trend continues.
Then why the bleep should we pay any attention to them?!!
Congrats to MNJ last week, he was hot as a firecracker. Hope he has cooled off a little today, let the games begin.
This is the major Sunday morning (in the US) thread. Until the movie starte here tonight, you might be talking to yourself on a new thread. Your comments will be valuable to all of us - looking forward to your reactions. Then we can provide links on tonight's live thread (assuming there will be one) to you posts here.
Remember how we all watched how Y2K occured in your part of the world? We were so happy to see the Fireworks over Sydney Harbour, signifying that computers were not going to end the world-as-we-knew-it!
Ellen RATnor makes Susan Estrich look like Barry Goldwater she's so Marxist. Facelift won't hide the fact that beauty may only be skindeep, but ugly goes down to the bone.
His polling accuracy comment was in response to my question to him regarding folks (like my two kids, both college grads, both employed) who don't own land-line phones, and how cell phone users impact their ability to get a true picture, because they are missing a large demograpic in their polling.
Everytime I think of Bob Shrum saying to Kerry, "May I be the first to call you Mr. President" I just roar with laughter. Those two idiots.
Agreed. Remember how screwed the GOP was supposed to be in 2002 because of Democratic anger over the Florida recount? Jeb Bush was all but a dead incumbent walking. Ooops.
I figured Weis would have his boys ready to go yesterday.
Well the reason BV and Gorelick are on is specifically to refute the PT9/11 because they know it's going to run and this is a VERY good sign (to me) that the edits are not what these two PRIX wanted, so they got to refute truths!!
Let them Pound Sand!
When do we get your nuggets?
Why the confusion about Condi being SOS? Did something happen last night that I missed?
I guess we should call you Aussiehunk. (Thanks for the report.)
Good Morning & Thanks, Laverne. Charlie Cook nowadays hang out with Mathews a lot. So, he is losing whatever thinking power he had before.
And you would be wrong. I think the selection of the guests has everything to do with the show. Stephie will provide a platform for the Dems to dispute the "facts" in the docudrama. It is a setup for Clintonistas.
How does that guy keep getting work?!! Don't you have to win an election at some point?!
So far it hasn't gotten that far, it is still in 1995 when they are trying to catch the mastermind of the WTC in Pakistan (with Pakistan's help).
IMHO, Charlie wasn't showing any matthews tendencies (matthews: crazy, looney, spitty, moonbatty) this morning. I thought he did a fair job in answering the questions.
Many would and do argue that we should not. I just add 5 to 7 points to the pubbie side when I see one.
I hope you're right. If Disney does stand their ground it'll be interesting to see how the Dems react. Do they just stop talking about it hoping it won't have a big impact or will they launch an immediate PR counter offensive?
