The percentage of Americans who blame the Bush administration for the September 11, 2001, attacks on New York and Washington has risen from almost a third to almost half over the past four years, a CNN poll released Monday found.
Asked whether they blame the Bush administration for the attacks, 45 percent said either a "great deal" or a "moderate amount," up from 32 percent in a June 2002 CNN/USA Today/Gallup poll.
But the Clinton administration did not get off lightly either. The latest poll, conducted by Opinion Research Corporation for CNN, found that 41 percent of respondents blamed his administration a "great deal" or a "moderate amount" for the attacks.
That's only slightly less than the 45 percent who blamed his administration in a poll carried out less than a week after the attacks.
Still, most Americans appear to be fatalistic, with more than half -- 57 percent -- saying they think that terrorists will "always find a way to launch attacks no matter what the U.S. government does."
The poll was carried out August 30 through September 2 by Opinion Research Corp. with 1,004 American adults questioned by telephone. The sampling error for the questions was 3%

"Do you read Sutter Caine?"
This country is going mad.
CNN Poll - That's all you need to know.
this is really lame. and patently false. memo to CNN: disneyworld is in Florida.
Wow - that W is something. He was one busy dude in the first 8 months of his administration.
This is like the survivor of the rape being responsible for the rape instead of the rapist.
Stupid.
The Democrats are poisoning the well. What are they going to do when their supply of bottled water runs out?
IDIOTS! msm, du and moveon, along with hollywood elitist are SO PLEASED! I can't leave out FLIP FLOPPING Politicians.
No surprises there.
"Asked whether they blame the Bush administration for the attacks, 45 percent said either a "great deal"
...Amazing what you get when you oversample the lunatic fringe.........
Umm...anybody remember to blame the fricking Islamic Terrorist Murdering Scum?
Oh, wait...our "policies" in the Middle East have caused them to act this way. Many in thw world hate us because of our "policies."
Oh, and...are we safer?
What crap we're hearing today.
I blame CNN for their Bush-hate propaganda these past 5 years leading to such a mindless and crass poll. I detest them.
CNN is B.S.
I do love that film, though.
News flash to the morons of the world, the attack was originally planned for Dec. 31 1999, Clintons watch.
Latest polls show 55% of Americans support Bush and his handling of the WOT! This BOGUS poll was manufactured to help bubba with "Path to 9/11".
LLS
The country, by the findings of this poll, has turned into a nation of hand wringers and losers.
I don't buy it. I don't buy it for a second.
The media in the USA helped bring this about. They have been unrelenting.
The poll was conducted among members of Democratic Underground and Liberty Post.
I would say that somewhere between 5-10% of the population are suffering from severe BDS, but not 45%.
Ah, yes. Bush's fault. :) Riiiiiiiiiiiiiight. You keep pushin' that, MSM. You'll be even more confused come Election Night.
Heaven forbid we take ONE day off from the polls and political angle of this atrocity.
Meanwhile, if 45% of Americans feel that way then we don't need a new president, we need a new citizenry.
Me neither!
This is a CNN push poll for 9/11.
This is for the DNC base.
Remember if the democrats were in charge there would be no memorials. They would have said we need to move on and focus on our "european guilt".
Ten percent of the people believe Elvis will get the letter you mail to him.
Do you know what question was asked? How was it worded?
Show how ingnorant and hypnotized America has become. The 911 attacks are 99 percent Clintons fault. I really wish one of the Victims would sue Clinton for 911 and then let the S#*T hit the fan.
I heard an interview this morning with the husband of a wife lost at the Pentagon on 9/11. When asked who he blamed for the loss of his wife, he said the USG. The world has indeed gone mad. The terrorists get a pass. It seems like people have some very high expectations for the USG to insulate them from every and anything.
All of the specific polls are stupid. They merely capture the core 40%+ who hate Bush and answer polls in whatever way they think hurts him, plus the confused periphery.
CNN poll... MoveOn.org poll... no fuggin' diff.
I am afraid this confirms we may be back in a Sept 10th mindset in this country. These are the same idiots that are willing to give the House and the Senate to Rats and would seriously consider putting another Clinton in the White House. I am very afraid for the future of this country and my young children. What the hell is wrong with these people!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

| Polls like this really don't tell anyone, a single thing about the truth of a question. All this poll really demonstrates is the enormous power that propaganda has on the weak human mind and how many of those fragile minds exist in our society. Even if 100% thought it was Bush's fault, it doesn't change the facts. It is absolutely impossible in reality to blame either administration for the 911 attacks. Terrorists, specifically Al Qaeda on 9/11 are responsible and anyone that cannot understand that is mentally disturbed. |
Thanks for posting this news. I expect it should go higher after last night's showing of The Path to 9//11. He did something and right away. Bin Laden & Al Qaeda had declared war on the US long before September 11, where was Clinton?
Yeah, he must have been doing more than just gluing the W's back on White House computer keyboards!
major damage repair response to "The Path to 9/11"..a simple feeble attempt at smoothing over and redirecting blame.
Doogle (those who criticize your successes, often reveal their failures)
Well, I'm convinced.
I didn't know CNN still had 1,004 employees. And I seriously question if they qualify as adults.
Was there ever an option to Freep that poll?
Who do you blame for 9-11:
A. President Bush
B. Vice President Cheney
C. Karl Rove
D. Secretary of State Condi Rice
E. All The Above
Unanswered questions default to 'All The Above"
I wonder how the viewership of CNN has changed over the last four years and how that effects their poll results.
I will bet not one Republican was called for the poll.
Our government is required to provide funds for the common defense... not to wipe your a$$ with them.
We can thanks the media for misinforming people on history.
Sheesh, Clintoon can pick up the phone and force ABC to RE-WRITE HISTORY....pathetic.
By definition, half of all Americans are below average intelligence. And, I would estimate, half of the lower half enter college because of the simplistic demand for an "educated electorate" and the fatuous belief that all people entering college can be educated (capable of logical thought). Of the half with above average intelligence, many attend elitist universities where they are educated by subtle and not-so-subtle Marxists. The result? We neither have an educated public, nor an educated electorate.
The fact that 9/11 came as a surprise and shock to most Americans is proof positive that Americans were either stupid or poorly educated. One might forgive the former, but never the latter.
Take the poll after the ABC movie.
Adults, weekend and holiday poll = worth less than junk
The only people who watch CNN are ones stuck in airport bars, who watch a forced feed, and idiots.
Those morons invented the zero, but they got the millenium change mixed up.
