CONSPIRACY CRANKS. CREATING CRAZED '9/11 TRUTH'.

ON Feb. 7, 2005, I became a member of the Bush/Halliburton/Zionist/CIA/New World Order/Illuminati conspiracy for world domination. That day, Popular Mechanics, the magazine I edit, hit newsstands with a story debunking 9/11 conspiracy theories. Within hours, the online community of 9/11 conspiracy buffs - which calls itself the "9/11 Truth Movement" - was aflame with wild fantasies about me, my staff and the article we had published. Conspiracy Web sites labeled Popular Mechanics a "CIA front organization" and compared us to Nazis and war criminals.

For a 104-year-old magazine about science, technology, home improvement and car maintenance, this was pretty extreme stuff. What had we done to provoke such outrage?

Paranoid personality disorder (PPD) is much more common in adults than most people realize. What's more, it seems these demented personalities take comfort in interacting with others that have their disorder. The JFK conspiracy believers are akin to the 9-11 conspiracy theorists, they have a real need to believe there is a plot, a secret plot and it is affecting their lives. Everyone should watch "Caine Mutiny" again and understand the personality portrayal depicts acurately real symptoms that millions of americans are afflicted with.

Most PPD's are affable enough people when not confronted with the absudity of the thinking they have on whatever issue they are obsessed with. When confronted with the truth, they will do anything but acknowledge, often exploding in temper tantrums etc.

Think hard enough and you may realize you know a ppd, and that they have affected your life negatively.

There's actually a bigger problem than that right now. Or don't you notice the rhetoric of the loonies infecting the mainstream debate? When Democrats try and blame Bush and not Al Qaeda for the "climate of fear"(as if), they are capitalizing on the work done by the conspiracy loons.

The true motivation of these conspiracy proponents is not to convince the public of the truth of it's claims(it can never hope to do that in the short term), it's true motivation is to plant the seed of doubt in the public mind.

the worst thing about this movie "Loose Change" is that absolutely every second of footage is stolen from network camera personel and documentarians who risked their lives to get that footage.

They jackasses just repurpose it and take all the credit. How they haven't been sued is beyond me.

Really there are groups of conservative investors that are fleecing the pants off the stupid conspiracy theorists and giving 80% of the proceeds to the Republican Senate Majority foundation. Karl Rove and Ken Melman are serving as directors with Ken Lay's executor of his estate.

They are targeting the spending towards the seats the Republicans can pick off. They also concentrate the spending where the DIEbold machinery is not in place yet.

They had a hilarious "experiment" over at DU. They built this cage out of chicken wire, filled the bottom with kerosene and paper and set it on fire. It didn't collapse, therefore 9-11 was an inside job. How can you refute logic that totally does not exist?
