At least the mussels won't be depressed...

Who is going around dumping Prozac in freshwater streams?

And why?

This has to be an exceptionally expensive way to control the growth of mussels.

Sure, they're doomed. But they don't care.

A nice liberal quandary: The liberal NEA wants to medicate the maleness out of our boys, but now has to choose between that and the environment. What will the liberals do when their gods are in conflict with each other? I wish their global warming god would confront their anti-nuclear power god.

"I think the scientists who did this study are on drugs."

Nah! They're just drinking the same water as the mussels.

I thought non-native mussels were an invasive pest that were causing havoc in the Great Lakes area? First we were told they were a problem because of the explosive growth of their population, now we are told it is a problem that they are being killed. I don't get it.

Good Lord, another bizarre study.

There are a lot of people studying the particular pollutants in groundwater and their sources. The notable ones are mostly pesticides, but pharmaceuticals are increasing.

Along those lines, I heard on a documentary about waterways in New York that they find sewage leaks by checking for elevated caffiene levels in the water.

HEdghogs get stuck eating ice cream? I have seen those lids - I have never seen a hedge hog with a head small enough to fit in that hole.

Ugh.

Idiots

Anytime you treat a prolapse with steam you endanger muscles.

I want to know how the scientists came up with this. I can just see it now: two men in white lab coats working around a tank of mussels on an unrelated experiment when one realizes he hasn't yet taken his Prozac. He takes out the pill, brings it toward his mouth, but is bumped by his partner and the pill falls in the tank. As all the mussels slowly open up, "Uh, Bill, you might want to see this..."
