This all smells very fishy. Democrat's have been plotting revenge for the Swift Vets truth about Kerry.
Aren't these ads illegal under McCain-Feingold?
I think that's exactly what it was.
The Vietnam era jackets left inventory decades ago.
Also, he makes the claim that the plates make them "bulletproof" - um, no, that's just to prevent penetration by heavy rifle rounds. They are ballistically resistant without it.
On top of which, while there were troops running around in Woodland pattern camo gear, there are no pictures of troops in Iraq wearing OD gear.
It should also be mentioned that the Iraqis did not *have* issue body armor - and if they did, the chances of the plates fitting US issue gear are slim and none, and Slim left last week.
And they know that Chris LaCivita (of Swift Vet "fame") is on the Allen Team. Chris received a Purple Heart in the First Gulf War.
Don't expect this to go unchallenged.
That guy must be an IWVINO
This should give Jim Webb an opportunity to see what he's made of! If he allows this ad to keep running, then he's lower than a snake's belly! We know he's pretty low already for using ads showing Reagan complimenting him after he has turned against Reagan and denounced his policies. I don't believe Reagan would say the nice things now that Webb's shown what he really is. I'm beginning to think Webb is an opportunist of the worst sort.
I find something about this fishy as well. I served as an Infantryman with the 3rd ID on the initial invasion of Iraq, and most of the resistence we encountered was care of the Iraqi Army. I NEVER saw an Iraqi soldier with plate equiped body armor. We spent almost 2 weeks clearing Saddam Int'l airport (every friggin nook and cranny) and I personally never saw any stockpiles of abandoned Iraqi armor.
Will Allen apologize?
This Peter Granato could actually be dangerous. Just try a simple Google search. It looks like he's from FL and one article describes him at a Sheehan event, in another blog posting (which may or may not be him) in a FL he slurs FL GOPer Crist and in another FL article he tried to 'inoccently' get into a Bush event without pre-screening. Here's that article
The Boca Raton News 9/13/06
"One other person from Boca wasnt as lucky Friday. Samuel Sisisky, a local veteran and supporter of Democrats John Kerry and John Edwards, said he had a ticket to get in. So did a companion, Peter Granato of West Palm Beach.
"But when they got to the barrier outside the Miami Arena, a volunteer who was checking tickets said they couldnt go in.
"'They didnt have tickets,' insisted the volunteer, John Ludwig. But the Palm Beach County pair swore they did.
"A cop came over and backed Ludwig. Granato and Sisisky didnt get into the arena.
"Ludwig said the event was free, but people needed an advance ticket. And those who got tickets had to be screened. He said neither Granato nor Sisisky had gotten the once-over.
"And it wasnt the sun that made them hot under the collar. 'I just wanted to see my former commander-in-chief,' said Granato, who said he just returned from a tour of duty in Iraq. Sisisky is a veteran of the Korean War."
