Chris Matthews is as frustrated as an able-bodied seaman after six months without shore leave. After 12 long years in the desert of the congressional minority, Matthews clearly senses this is the year for the Dems to snatch back the Speaker's gavel. His frustration is borne of the fear that the Dems will squander the opportunity out of timidity - an unwillingness to attack President Bush on the war in Iraq.
Things boiled over on this evening's Hardball. With guests Howard Fineman of Newsweek and Chuck Todd of the Hotline as witnesses to the meltdown, Matthews first played a hard-hitting Moveon.org ad accusing Republicans of misleading the nation into Iraq and trying to "exploit 9/11" to win elections. Matthews complained that while the Republicans are willing to use the same kind of tactics against the Democrats, Dems "are afraid to run an ad like that."
Really? The party whose surrogate, the NAACP, ran the infamous TV commercial accusing George Bush of being the equivalent of a racist murderer dragging a black man to death behind a truck wouldn't scruple to run an anti-war ad?
Things got very ugly a bit later, when Matthews said this:
"There's a great saying, the prosecutor says you've got to point to the guilty guy in front of the jury and say 'he committed the murder' because if the jury doesn't believe you believe the guy did it and have the guts to face them with it, they won't find him guilty. And I think the Democrats have got to point the finger and say they're right: he's the bad guy."
The image displayed here is of Matthews illustrating just how Democrats should point the accusatory finger at the president.
Remember this the next time your hear a Dem self-righteously decrying the Republicans' harsh tone, as they have at great length over Majority Leader Boehner's recent statement. Chris Matthews, former aide to Dem Speaker of the House Tip O'Neill, and leading MSM light, has counseled them to treat the President of the United States like a murderer in the box.
Hardball/NewsBusters Matthews-says-treat-W-like-murderer ping to Today show list.
Can I point my middle finger at Prissy Chrissy?
They are deranged with hatred. Driving right off the cliff with the rhetoric.
I just hope, hope, hope no one calls them on it and they continue unabated.
Thanks for watching GLGB. I do watch this show sometimes just to keep an eye on the enemy but missed today.
The author refers to Hardball host Chris Matthews as a "leading MSM light." He is a dim bulb. We regret the error.
Howard Fineman was on Imus this morning carrying the same message.
My pleasure, Chuck. This was definitely one for the annals.
Look folks, this is not time to get mad and rant back at these misfits. There is a golden opportunity to destroy the Democrat Party this year. Oh, I know all the stories about the weak and RINO pubbies, and some have good or even great justification. But, we must remember that the key objective is the destruction of the Democrat Party and MSM ilk like Chris Matthews, Howard Fineman, Keith Olberman, Jon Stewart, Al Franken, etc. The way to do that is to unite, regardless of differences for now, send a donation to the RNC and get out and vote in November. If we do these simple tasks, we can rid the USA of a political party (Democrat) that will not only kill your freedoms, but will kill your families and loved ones. I reluctantly, with hesitation, send in a contribution to Ken Mehlman (RNC) because in my heart I believe he he is one smart fellow, and will spend every cent he has to destroy these Democrat, liberal. left-wing fools, traitors and treason mongers that inhabit a once great political party. Go to it, friends and Freepers!!!
I thank my stars I am not a liberal imprisoned in a self indulgent world.
As the author of the article posted here, it's obvious I'm not Matthews fan. But I see no justification for your suggestion. Why go there?
Yes, I second doing that from today until the election.
Uh, well, maybe not.
never mind.
You are exactly right. Thanks for the reasoned response.
I would say "Chris, why are even talking about Iraq? Iraq is not an issue for Congress right now. The Iraq war has been over for years and its a peacekeeping operation. Next question, Chris."
Y'know what frustrates ol' Chris even more?...the realization that the crew in the studio and the guests make up the largest group of viewers of his show nationwide.
The Weather Guy in many local markets has a larger audience. :o)
One other thought: Should...repeat"should," the Democrat Party lose this time around there are going to be many people drinking cyanide Kool-Aid the next morning.
They will realize that without a majority in the House, the will never get the impeachment they want, and Dubya will leave office with an impressive legacy.
Thanks again!
Why use a nautical metaphor about a horny sailor?

Dear Chris,
You had better wake up and get right with the Lord - soon. Eternity awaits you, and right now it does not look good for you.
Because it's a good metaphor for frustration. Why drag the accusation of homosexuality into it? Do you know something we don't about this married man with three children?
It would be better if you point it at the sky, I think, for PC purposes.
LOL................ a three and a half watt nightlight.
I know his audience is relatively puny, but I'd say his influence is disproportionately large in political circles.
Yes, the objective journalist Chrissy Matthews, who I wouldn't watch if he were the last one on earth.
GOP ought to run ads with all the quotes about Saddam from the democrats while CLINTON was president
I don't think pointing fingers at Bush like a proctologist will help them, people will just think "eeewww".
Off the suject, but sorry I don't know how to post.but I went on ABC.com and the way people our insulting our President and Sara Evans for being a republican on dancing with the stars is disgusting.
lol
All the GOP needs is to play the John Kerry response to John Dean during the 2003 primaries concerning the war
You're very welcome to post that here.
Spoken like a fox.
But I think he's a small-time bully and a coward.
I will never forget his gutless attack on Michelle Malkin about a year and a half ago.
I can't stand the way the media hires ex-Democratic politicos to to newscasters. It's bad enough the media is totally biased in favor of Democrats, without bringing in the real thing.
STOP WATCHING!!! Watch Glenn Beck instead!! Spittin Chrissy is UNWATCHABLE!!
Fineman and Matthews are water carriers for the Democrats.
Of course, they are, Chris. So afraid to run an ad like that that they'll insist their surrogates -- the NAACP, the ACLU, the Hollywood left and Soros' 527s -- run ads like that.
Meanwhile, like craven terrorists, they'll hide among the children, behind the skirt of non-accountability.
Chris is so distraught, that he will probably take a mid-term defeat as a personal repudiation. He just can't believe that stupid voters can't see that this election is all about the Iraq war as he has trumpeted constantly.
For my sins, I was watching Good Morning America the other day. Chris Cuomo threw things to George Stephanopoulos. Surreal.
Bring it on, you walkin' hair-style...
This is the absolutely worst thing the Donks can do. Now that President Bush's approval numbers are once again approaching 50%, the Donks will not do themselves any favors by alienating half the elecotorate.
It's too late for the Donks to advance any coherent agenda. All they have is negativism. They put all their eggs in the "Hate Bush" basket, and the bottom just fell out. Jumping up and down and screaming about it is only going to make matters worse.
This election is going to be a disaster for the Donks. Mark my words.
Chris can point his finger here.............
2002, the Senate early Friday voted 77-23 to authorize President Bush to attack Iraq if Saddam Hussein refuses to give up weapons of mass destruction as required by U.N. resolutions.
Good grief, couldn't he just dummy up some fake documents...well, I guess that's been tried. You know what, this has gone over the edge into insanity. These people are as out of control as the DUers and the KosKommies. Fineman this morning was absolutely rabid on Imus. This is some kind of syndrome. I just don't know what the heck it is.
Personally, I think its coming close to the time when they will all hit the:
Chris Matthews: Tip O'Neill taught him how to drink, but he croaked before he taught him how to stop....
I donated heavily today.
LLS
The title of his show is appropriate, then.
Be my guest,we all give him the finger around here.
Come Election night he is going to be Spittin Mad!!
Pray for W and Our Freedom Fighters
