RUSH: Apparently Air America is going to file for bankruptcy this week or next. They'll continue to operate, but I knew that was coming. I've been hearing the rumblings. They're financially bankrupt. They've been morally bankrupt since they started, before they started, but financially bankrupt -- and now the Drive-By Media is just having sort of like a Vagina Monologue moment here with the announcement that Gloria Steinem and Jane Fonda and Rosie O'Donnell have mounted a radio talk show network to challenge me. One of the stories here -- I've gotta find this, get the right determination here because the story I have is from NewsMax, and what I want is the AP story on this, because it's all about how they've got three stations that broadcast straight up.
You might be able to hear them five miles up but you can't hear them ten feet outside the tower. Let's see, where is it? Ah, here we go: (story) "Greenstone Launches All Woman Radio Network -- Greenstone Media, a radio company whose founders include social activist Gloria Steinem and actress Jane Fonda has launched an all-women, all-talk network across the United States." They have three stations! Four? They've got four stations now and, you know, what they say about it is incredible. They say that women are leaving talk radio in droves because it leaves 'em wanting. They don't like people like me, you women don't, and they're leaving music radio because that's getting boring, and they want to go to all talk women radio put on by Jane Fonda and Gloria Steinem.

But guess what it is that they're going to offer? They're not going to offer bra burning classes. They're not going to talk about militant feminism and all that. They're going to talk about children and cooking and Home Ec. Feng shui! We did a morning update on this. The icons of the feminist movement are going to do a women's talk radio network, basically which is a seventh or eighth grade home economics class. Now, what does that tell you about what's become of the feminist movement? There already is a hugely successful women's talk radio network out there. One woman does it: Dr. Laura Schlessinger. But, you know, folks, can I tell you something? I often don't indulge in this Inside Baseball kind of talk.
I leave that to others because I stick to the issues here. But isn't it amazing, if I just may do this for a moment before we go to commercial break, in 1988 when the EIB Network debuted on 56 radio stations nobody gave it a chance because it had never succeeded in the daytime before. Syndicated radio was always at night when they didn't have to sell advertising, they used it as a loss leader. So at the time in 1988, we had ABC, CBS, NBC, and CNN, and that was it. We also had the Democrats controlling Congress with Ronaldus Magnus leaving office and George Bush 41 assuming office. Well, here we are in 2006, and virtually every Democrat thinks and has thought for a while that if they are to reverse their plummeting fortunes, they have to find a way to succeed in radio. They tried governor Cuomo. They tried Jim Hightower. They tried Gary Hart. I mean, the list goes on and on. Air America was supposed to be the salvation! Now it's going bankrupt and the answer?
"That doesn't mean anything."

That's okay. They served their purpose. Now progressive radio is firmly established. Tom Daschle after the 2002 elections talked to some experts and was appalled when he learned that Democrats actually listening to this program and others and have on occasion changed their minds and become conservatives. So it's sort of undeniable that when the liberals think of their waning fortunes, they blame it on me and conservative talk radio and think if they are to reverse those fortunes they somehow have to find a way to get on radio. I mean, Whoopi Goldberg is doing radio! People who have never done radio before are doing a show. Everybody is getting a radio show. Satellite people, everybody is doing a radio show -- and in 1988, radio was thought to be dead, was thought to be on its last legs, other than the long-haired, maggot-infested FM types, AM radio certainly was thought to be dead. And now everybody wants to be on it. All the libs have got to have their radio show. It's more important to have a radio show than it is to address the United Nations, as far as they're concerned.

Who is still King Of Talk Radio in America?? Why, the one and only Maha Rushie! He rulez! Air America is going bankrupt. As if to prove you can always reinvent the wheel, the libs are announcing - with Gloria Steinem and Jane Fonda - the First Ever, All New Chick Radio! Yeah, that'll succeed. Just bet women are tired of listeing to all that male, sexist and patriarchal right-wing propaganda. They'll beat Rush this time with a change of plumbing! Its good to know our friends on the other side - the clueless liberals - have it finally all figured out... the problem isn't the message, its the presentation! Good luck to feminist radio in avoiding their quest to join Air America in the graveyard of failed liberal radio ventures.

There are two ways to be successful in business, one is to have broad appeal, and the other is to target a specific niche.
It certainly does not work to think that you have braod appeal when really your appeal is only to a very small group of people.

Rush, as the king, saviour and pioneer of political talk AM radio, made my day when the Hannity producers sliced in a message to Sean from Rush, congratulating him on his success on his five year anniversary of syndication, I understand it was the day before 9/11. Clearly Hannity was blindsided by his own staff, it was rather touching. I looked at wifey and asked "are you hearing what I'm hearing?"

The American left doesn't understand why conservative talk radio is so successful. I can remember back in the 1980's, sitting in my car during the lunch hour listening to Rush Limbaugh on an AM radio station that would fade in and out. Talk radio was one of the few public mediums real conservatives had. And many conservatives became talk radio addicts. As a result, these stations slowly built up a growing number of loyal listeners over the years. Liberals controlled the establishment media. They had no need to broadcast their ideology over some radio station except in very large markets where stations wanted to add some political balance to their lineup. Because of the phenomenal success of people like Limbaugh, Boortz and others, who work hard to make it all look easy, some liberals believe they need to take over talk radio too. On a national level it just doesn't work for them. Their market simply watches CNN, MSNBC or any of the alphabet networks. They are not going to listen to the radio unless it's NPR.

Too bad she didn't cash it when the Time Warner - AOL merger was announced. At that time it was widely reported that the shares Ted had given her were, for a moment, worth $770M. That, along with the half of the aerobics video coin she didn't give to Tom Hayden, would have made her a hair's breadth away from the status billionairess.

The rat plan was to monopolize the media and shut conservative ideas out of the mainstream. The MSM would fawn over every word by Gloria Steinen, but marginalize Phyliss Shafly. Good solid conservative ideas were relegated to a few AM stations - which was thought to be a finished medium.
But all it needed was an outlet. Once those ideas got out there, and people heard them, and could compare the ideas and decide for themselves, it changed the world.
The lefties, who have the major networks, CNN, almost every big paper plus NPR look at the conservatives with their little AM stations and say - If only we had AM stations - we could get the message out!
They get the message out. It's the message that's the problem. We think their message stinks. Finding another way to ram it down our throats isn't going to make us like it any more.
