Iraqi Official Testifies to Links Between Saddam and Al Qaeda
BY ELI LAKE - Staff Reporter of the Sun September 14, 2006
WASHINGTON A deputy prime minister of Iraq yesterday offered a sharp contradiction of the conventional wisdom here that Saddam Hussein's Iraq and Al Qaeda had no connection before the 2003 war, flatly contradicting a recent report from the Senate's intelligence committee.
In a speech in which he challenged the belief of war critics that Iraqis' lives are now worse than under Saddam Hussein, Barham Salih said, "The alliance between the Baathists and jihadists which sustains Al Qaeda in Iraq is not new, contrary to what you may have been told." He went on to say, "I know this at first hand. Some of my friends were murdered by jihadists, by Al Qaeda-affiliated operatives who had been sheltered and assisted by Saddam's regime."

I wonder if the wire services will be publishing the testimony of this particular official?
Move on nothing here to see'''''
I remember a few weeks back a CNN pretty-boy was interviewing I think the deputy prime minister of Iraq. This Iraqi said before the war we had al-Qaeda and now after the war we are hunting them down. The CNN guy interupted him and said something to the effect of "in all honesty I feel I must say that al-Qaeda being in Iraq before the war is still a matter of dispute". The Iraqi ignore him and kept talking. I was laughing too hard to hear the rest.
Yep. Another democratic/Michael Savage Canard down the drain...
I'm sure the perky one will make this the centerpiece of her nightly news show.... (BWAAAHAAAHAAAA, sniff!)
'splain the Savage remark. I quit listening to him several years ago.
I tuned in a couple of weeks ago only to hear him extolling the virtues of Saddam and how we should have left him in power. that he knew how to keep the terrorists and shias at bay, buying into the Cindy Sheehan/Scott Ritter theory that he did not support al-qaeda hook line and sinker.
It has only been about three months since we dropped two 500-pound guided bombs on the hide-out of Zarqawi, killing him and uncovering what American military investigators called a "treasure trove" of documents, computer hard drives and other intelligence.
My guess is Democrats are very afraid of the information found at that hide-out considering their prior rhetoric.
The Democrats and liberals could take the time to read any translated documents found but they wont. It might actually put them on the same side as America.
The dems will probably say that this Iraq official was put up to this by Karl Rove...
Ping.
They have not wanted to be on America's side since a traitorous puke named John Kerry testified that we were like jenjis khan.
I have to agree. Too bad we can't get the hard drive and it's information to our own jveritas. He'd have it all translated by now......
I am amazed how narrow the thinking of the Democrats is on this issue (if they really believe their rhetoric). Just in Afghanistan, huh? No were else on the planet?? Even after 5 years time? We should just fight in Afghanistan?? This is so silly that I must conclude they are a very obtuse and quite stupid lot.
Amazing how the people that were against the invasion of Iraq and were safe in our own country can determine there was no connection of Sadaam and Al Qaeda while Iraqi's that were there say there was.

Not a doc, but might be worth a ping.
"I wonder if the wire services will be publishing the testimony of this particular official?"
He is just a Bush operative spouting lies and propaganda.
I'm just shocked that I read it here and in the NY Sun before any of the network newsies covered it. (/sarcasm)
This is a little different than a prewar docs thread, but its close enough. All of us on this ping list know the truth. We need to speak truthiness to power!!

Please add the keyword prewardocs to any articles pertaining to this subject.
I laughed when I read you post. I am sorry I didn't see the guy from Candy News network get his @$$ handed to him by someone who actually KNOWS something...:-)
More proof bump!
The Iraqi seemed stunned more than anything else.
That the guy didn't believe him? Or what?
Thanks for the ping, however...................... ;*)

The Iraqi seemed surprised that anyone would question the presence of al-Qaeda in pre-invastion Iraq. The CNN newsreader seemed very satisfied with himself that he was being "fair and balanced" in some way.
That's what I thought you meant. The dims are adrift way out on open water and these types of revelations just make it harder for them to regain any sense of relevancy. At least that's what I'm thinking and hoping.:-)
No it won't. They don't want to be on America's side.
Because that would put them on Bush's side...
Buzz....sorry...too late . You ran out of time...testimony not accepted.
Great post. I will take the testimony of someone who was actually THERE over the incessant ramblings and whinings of the DemonRat libs in this country.
Pertinent to this - I'm watching C-Span2 and the Rats are trying to declassify documents and are furious that Cheney said on Russert's show that we still don't know if Atta was in Prague before 9/11.
Text of Salih's speech at Brookings yesterday...

Thanks for the PING.
The media will cherry pick and ignore this story. It doesn't fit their template of maintaining a story line.
Not nearly as credible as their "unnamed sources close to the investigation" sources!
BTTT!
Thanks for posting this. I've added a link to the NY Sun article to the very top of http://FreedomKeys.com/whyiraq.htm
Thanks for the ping.
"This is a little different than a prewar docs thread, but its close enough."
I agree. This is not prewar docs, but it does support what we have learned from some of the prewar docs. For that reason it is appropriate for a ping.
"I would like to point out that the Senate Intelligence Select Committee and the 911 Commission are incompetent and that is the correlation. Not are they ignoring translated documents and Able Danger but also the testimony of Iraqi Officials.
As I stated in an article I wrote at Newsbusters.org
http://newsbusters.org/node/6872
I am in agreement with syndicated columnist Michelle Malkin on her blog entry titled 9/11 Commission Ignored Key Facts On Hijackers, In which she said: The 9/11 Commission was supposed to give the American people a complete, unbiased story of the government failures that led up to the September 11 terrorist attacks. But the Commission now admits its acclaimed Final Report ignored key information provided by a U.S. Army data mining project, Able Danger, which identified Mohammed Atta and several other hijackers as potential terrorists prior to the September 11 attacks. The Able Danger team recommended that Atta and the other suspected terrorists be deported. That recommendation, however, was not shared with law enforcement officials, presumably because of the wall between intelligence activities and domestic law enforcement. According to the New York Times, the 9/11 Commission officials said that Able Danger had not been included in their report because some of the information sounded inconsistent with what they thought they knew about Atta. In other words, the Commission staffers were told about the project but ignored it because it didn't fit their pre-conceived conclusions."
I think I will bump this so it will show for those who might miss it otherwise.
Thanks for the PINGS...I can't believe that these Hezbocrats can say (with a stright face) that there was no Iraqi (Saddam) ties with terrorists before we went to war. They cannot actually believe that with all the evidence out there, they've just got to be betting that most of the sheeple that vote for them are too lazy to go find the news for themselves. Well, I guess they've got about a 50 / 50 shot huh!
Doesn't matter how many people present evidence of this link - the left is never going to believe it existed.
Actually, it was april15Bendovr who made the reply. I just copied and pasted it and bumped so others could see it too.
I do agree with what april15Bendovr said though.
