"It is no surprise that Reggie Bush and his family cashed in on his future earnings during his Heisman Trophy career at USC, as so many allege."

FLASH! This just in. Investigators have discovered that various Universities around the U.S. have been cashing in on the student-athletes abilities, enabling them to build new facilities and get raises. An anonymous coach on deep background said, I repeat, "This is widespread. More prevelant than people think. I bet it occurs everywhere."

I hope my midwestern Cornhuskers can clean their clock this coming saturday, and I know it's possible, but I really just hope they play well and represent themselves and their state well.

(Hell yes I EXPECT A HUSKER VICTORY--NOTHING LESS!!!)

Should be a fun game to watch. All this press should bump the viewership up at least a couple of points. :)

"They earn millions, but can't accept the same thing regular students can. They should be paid a stipend. Just a small stipend would keep a lot of this under the table stuff down."

Read the sad tale of the Ohio State bball coach who dared to help a kid from Yugoslavia....

As the article said, that's another argument.

Some college players take a pay cut when turning pro. Even in high school, abuses abound. Namath was recruited from junior high when his dad was given a great (little work) job to get him in the district. We are the same age and I lived in the area and know this first hand.

If Pete goes, USC can have Houston Dale Nutt for free.

I have some insight in this, as my daughter played basketball for Ohio State from 97-01.

I feel like the NCAA unfairly has been breathing down our neck since Clarett disgraced us, and even before. However, Geiger did the right thing, didn't cover up Clarett's misdeeds, and that possibly cost us another NC.

I know that when my family would go to any of my daughter's banquets, we'd have to pay to attend. It was all by the book.

I'd rather my Buckeyes run a clean program and play by the rules, than win disgracefully.

Jim O'Brien is a man of integrity. When my daughter played there, he was always respectful of the women's BB team, and my daughter thinks the world of him.

Although I virtually never disagree with Andy Geiger, I think the Clarett situation, and already having the NCAA breathing down his neck, made this situation worse than it was.

I just hope the NCAA looks into this Reggie Bush situation. It will make anything that Coach O'Brien did look like chump change.

I was there then, too. Those sanctions reduced a top program down, waaayy down for years.

As a 20 year old who has scarlet and grey running through his veins since the day i was born, it pains me to see clarret tarnish the name of tOSU in such a way. I go to miami of ohio (roethlisberger) but almost every one of us is a buckeye fan. When someone breaks the rules they need to be punished accordingly...id rather see a few people fall than the entire program. Especially at a place like ohio state.

IT'S BUSH'S FAULT!!!

I've seen that line on so many posts here at FR that I just had to write it on this one.

Get over yourself Dan. College football is a professional business, making millions for networks and colleges, and the concern about stuff like this is pure hypocrisy. The breathlessness of this guy..."gotta give back the title"...he sounds like a true girly man.

Forgot about Seaver.

Personal feelings for Mark. He donates a lot of time to a charity I am involved with.

I was just saying on the Ohio board earlier...USC is one of my favorite schools to hate!

So you're from Ohio--where roses never bloom.

Fight on, Trojans!
