Pope compared to Hitler and Mussolini over Islam remarks (Turkey)
Breaking News.ie ^ | 9/15/06

Posted on 09/15/2006 6:08:01 AM PDT by areafiftyone

Turkey’s ruling Islamic-rooted party joined a wave of criticism of Pope Benedict XVI today, saying he would go down in history in the same league as leaders like Hitler and Mussolini for remarks he made on Islam.

The comments by Salih Kapusuz, a deputy leader of Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s party, came a day after Turkey’s top cleric asked Benedict to take back recent remarks, escalating tensions before the pontiff’s November visit.

The Pope made his remarks on Islam in a speech in which he quoted from a book recounting a conversation between 14th century Byzantine Christian Emperor Manuel Paleologos II and an educated Persian on the truths of Christianity and Islam.

“The emperor comes to speak about the issue of jihad, holy war,” the Pope said.

“He said, I quote, ’Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached,”’ he quoted the emperor as saying.

Benedict added, “I quote,” twice before pronouncing the phrases on Islam and described them as “brusque,” while neither explicitly agreeing with nor repudiating them.

Kapusuz told the state-owned Anatolia news agency that Benedict’s remarks looked “like an effort to revive the mentality of the Crusades”.

“Benedict, the author of such unfortunate and insolent remarks is going down in history for his words. However ... he is going down in history in the same category as leaders such as Hitler and Mussolini,” he said.

His comments came despite the Vatican defending the Pope saying that the Pontiff wanted to promote respect and dialogue toward other religions.

Earlier today, Pakistan’s parliament unanimously adopted a resolution condemning Pope Benedict XVI for making what it called “derogatory” comments about Islam.

These bastards can't stand the truth! God Bless the Holy Father for pointing out the truth about Islam. No leader has the guts to point out that that Islam is NOT a religion of Peace and never has been.

Salesian Priest, 70, Stabbed in Germany

KASSEL, Germany, SEPT. 14, 2006 (Zenit.org).- A Turk has been arrested in the stabbing of a 70-year-old Salesian parish priest who was attacked at the door of his rectory.

Police have arrested a 28-year-old man in connection with the attack last Monday on Father Aloys Weber.

The Salesian International News Agency (ANS) reported the incident Wednesday, detailing that the assailant repeatedly accused the priest of being "the incarnation of evil."

On Monday afternoon, the assailant went to the door of the rectory. When Father Weber opened the door, he was stabbed three times, twice in the abdomen and once near the heart.

The Salesian was rushed to the hospital, where he was operated on. He is listed in serious condition, ANS reported.

http://www.zenit.org/english/visualizza.phtml?sid=94872

This was Monday, prior to Benedict16's address.

Turk's have a habit of attacking priests in Turkey and elsewhere.

I don't think they follow the Amish religion.

Truth be told:

Subject: The Real History of the Crusades

The Real History of the Crusades
by Thomas Madden

"So what is the truth about the Crusades? Scholars are still working some of that out. But much can already be said with certainty. For starters, the Crusades to the East were in every way defensive wars. They were a direct response to Muslim aggression—an attempt to turn back or defend against Muslim conquests of Christian lands.

Christians in the eleventh century were not paranoid fanatics. Muslims really were gunning for them. While Muslims can be peaceful, Islam was born in war and grew the same way. From the time of Mohammed, the means of Muslim expansion was always the sword. Muslim thought divides the world into two spheres, the Abode of Islam and the Abode of War. Christianity—and for that matter any other non-Muslim religion—has no abode. Christians and Jews can be tolerated within a Muslim state under Muslim rule. But, in traditional Islam, Christian and Jewish states must be destroyed and their lands conquered. When Mohammed was waging war against Mecca in the seventh century, Christianity was the dominant religion of power and wealth. As the faith of the Roman Empire, it spanned the entire Mediterranean, including the Middle East, where it was born. The Christian world, therefore, was a prime target for the earliest caliphs, and it would remain so for Muslim leaders for the next thousand years.

With enormous energy, the warriors of Islam struck out against the Christians shortly after Mohammed’s death. They were extremely successful. Palestine, Syria, and Egypt—once the most heavily Christian areas in the world—quickly succumbed. By the eighth century, Muslim armies had conquered all of Christian North Africa and Spain. In the eleventh century, the Seljuk Turks conquered Asia Minor (modern Turkey), which had been Christian since the time of St. Paul. The old Roman Empire, known to modern historians as the Byzantine Empire, was reduced to little more than Greece. In desperation, the emperor in Constantinople sent word to the Christians of western Europe asking them to aid their brothers and sisters in the East.

That is what gave birth to the Crusades. They were not the brainchild of an ambitious pope or rapacious knights but a response to more than four centuries of conquests in which Muslims had already captured two-thirds of the old Christian world. At some point, Christianity as a faith and a culture had to defend itself or be subsumed by Islam. The Crusades were that defense."

Islam is an evil ideology.

"How dreadful are the curses which Mohammedanism lays on its votaries! Besides the fanatical frenzy, which is as dangerous in a man as hydrophobia in a dog, there is this fearful fatalistic apathy. Improvident habits, slovenly systems of agriculture, sluggish methods of commerce, and insecurity of property exist wherever the followers of the Prophet rule or live. A degraded sensualism deprives this life of its grace and refinement; the next of its dignity and sanctity. The fact that in Mohammedan law every woman must belong to some man as his absolute property - either as a child, a wife, or a concubine - must delay the final extinction of slavery until the faith of Islam has ceased to be a great power among men. “Benedict, the author of such unfortunate and insolent remarks is going down in history for his words. However ... he is going down in history in the same category as leaders such as Hitler and Mussolini,” he said.

What I find interesting is that those that support/defend Islam understand that Hitler and Mussolini where terrible, horrible men.... yet, when they sling their insulting comparisons, THEY are the ones who are supporting/defending a (so-called) 'religion' that has a lot of commonalities to the fascist thinking of Hitler and Mussolini.

Pope Benidict has really surprised me. He has shown himself to be a man of extreme faith and real courage. I hope he dosen't retreat from his recent statements about the cult of Islam. He speaks the truth. I fear he now wears a target and is a marked man. Islam cultists don't like what he has said. they will try and silence the infidel. I pray they fail miserably in their efforts to silence the Pope.

The Roman Catholic Church has had its own dark period with the Inquisitions and othe unsavory acts. It is history. However, that passed on and we have worked to better the human condition since then. The Roman Catholic Church started whe Jesus Christ told Peter that "he is the Rock and upon this Rock I will build My church". Islam, otoh, started with a maniacal, pedophile, meglomaniac bent on destroying everyone that won't submit to the dictates of Islam and the destruction of everything that offends Islam. My tagline says it all.

Matthew 26:51-53 (New King James Version)

51 And suddenly, one of those who were with Jesus stretched out his hand and drew his sword, struck the servant of the high priest, and cut off his ear.

52 But Jesus said to him, “Put your sword in its place, for all who take the sword will perish[a] by the sword. 53 Or do you think that I cannot now pray to My Father, and He will provide Me with more than twelve legions of angels?

hat is especially noteworthy is that the Grand Mufti was schooled in the tactics of the Third Reich, Modern Islamofascism has its roots in the Nazi doctrines of fascism and racial apartheid.
Doublespeak was brought to its zenith and perfection by the USSR. Projecting one's own worse behavior on one's enemy is a favorite tool of terrorists who seek to sow dissent and confusion. The Democrats in the US have become masters as well as victims of this delusional tactic.
The Pope is showing a refreshing alacrity of truth-telling by calling Islamofascism what it is, bloodthirsty and rapacious.
And, yes, His Eminence is calling for a new Crusade to once again push the infidels back into the desert.
