Let's talk about what matters most here. He's from OHIO. He's been an elected politician since 1979 first the Ohio House, then Senate, then to the House of Reps.

OHIO was critical to 2004. How will this affect the general feeling towards Republicans in the near term on top of the scandal and guilt of Governor Taft?

That's silly. Since when does alcoholism force someone to take bribes?

Congressional junket crap. Meet with business leaders, photo ops, etc. Productive it may not be, but we aren't talking about a vacation junket.

I have a question .. why is it only republicans go to jail

It's the Dems' idea of a level playing field. Enforced by Clinton appointed judges.

We know that DeLay's family accepted $500,000.

A smear and a lie (and I know to what you refer) and you should be ashamed of yourself. You aren't, but you should be.

It is the Bush Administration's Justice Department under the leadership of Attorney General Alberto Gonzales that is pursuing prosecutions of congressmen/women connected to Jack Abramoff. If Democrats took bribes (not legitimate and legal contributions) they too will be prosecuted.
The list of Democrats who received campaign contributions from Abramoff is irrelevant if there are no quid pro quos that can be identified.
In the case of Bob Ney, since he first resigned from Congress and then pleaded guilty, there must be identifiable quid pro quos.

Republican Congressman Ney's guilty plea may mean his long denial is finally coming to an end, but it doesn't mean the Republicans in Washington are wrapping up their culture of corruption. From Republican House Majority Leader John Boehner, to the Bush White House and the Republican Senate leadership, the GOP's culture of corruption is still strong in Washington.

Instead of working to provide the American people with the honest leadership and open government they deserve, Republicans in Congress are backing away from promised ethics reforms. After pledging to join Democrats in cleaning up the ethics scandals Republicans have brought to Washington, GOP leaders in both chambers have indicated the legislation won't be addressed until after the Nov. 7 elections. Worse still, Washington Republicans have scaled back their ethics agenda because of divisions among Republicans.

Congressman Ney also agreed to participate in the ongoing Justice Department investigation into scandal-plagued Republican lobbyist Jack Abramoff, an investigation that reaches from the halls of Congress all the way into the White House. In the trial that led to the conviction of the White House's former chief procurement office David Safavian on charges of lying to hide his relationship with Abramoff.

As important as Congressman Ney's guilty plea is, he is just one figure in the Republicans' far-reaching pay-to-play scheme in which partisan campaign contributions bought access and policy outcomes for favored special interests. Interests of America's working families have taken a back seat as the Republicans have put their favorite special interests ahead of what's good for America. For working families, the results have been disastrous: huge tax breaks for the energy and pharmaceutical companies even as the American people pay skyrocketing energy and health care costs.

I will proudly support Democratic Party candidates in November. The Republican culture of corruption in Washington must end ASAP!

And you probably believed that Ney parlayed a $100 bet into $34,000.

I maintain that it would be best if Republicans were able to clean their own house. I've been very hard on Ney for a long time. I've also been hard on DeLay. There's no room for corruption in the Republican Party.

Apparently you can't distinguish between a campaign contribution (legal) and a bribe (illegal).

Then would you explain to me why most of these listed either donated the amounts to charity or returned them. I say most because some of them such as Harry Reid refused, he of course did no wrong, just like the boxing tickets.
