Who said it was a "blunder"? Maybe the rest of us should speak up as well.

He also has yet to rebuild ties with the Russian Orthodox Church What? He hasn't healed THAT 1000-year-old schism yet!? What's he been doing for the past year?

Since when is the truth a "blunder." I was proud of the Pope for saying it like it is. If the Muslims cannot accept what there religion is teaching then they have the problem.
To: Nachum
Sorry, it was NOT a blunder and it shows that he truly GETS it and is courageous in speaking the Truth. Finally, SOMEBODY who is bold to NOT be PC and to 'offend Muslim sensibilities' and call a spade a spade.
Or to name Satan as such.
Praise God for this good man.

"Given the diplomatic battle ahead to placate the Muslim world..."Given the magnitude of the questions they beg, you'd think the scribblers at Breitbart.com would have been proud to sign their names to this pusillanimous piece of character assassination.

exactly.
If the these Muslims want a "holy" war... it will not be pretty (for them).

why, with the media, is ia "all about us?" maybe there are those who can read/interpret all on their own and not worry about how the media spins any given situation ?

No doubt the Holy Father knew exactly what he was saying and the Muslims have indeed made fools of themselves (again) in their reaction.
But I hope all those reading and saying that "finally someone in the West will speak the Truth" will also read the rest of that speech. Was it not mostly directed at the secular West where we pretend that science and reason are divorced from religion? He was still speaking the Truth here, no? Here, the challenge is for us. It is good that he named the spade a spade; may it help us in the West to trust him when he preaches the Gospel!!

First off: his name is not
Benedict. It is:
Pope Benedict XVI It's kind of like having a your kid call you by your first name. No respect. If my kid called me by my first name, I'd smack 'em upside the head.
That's exactly what the Pontiff did to these idiots: Smacked 'em upside the head.
God Bless him and pray for his safety. These guys are nuts.

Objective Moral Truths have been around waaaaayyy longer than the modern mass media culture and technologies. Once all of the latter is completely destroyed in The End (in whichever century or millenium that is to come), the fact is that only Objective Moral TRUTH shall remain.

The media, in their normal way of doing things, cause the blunders. Why? Because they are undereducated and don't understand speech when someone with an intelligent command uses it.

Jesus also failed to "master the media machine."
Not that I'm saying Benedict is God incarnate. He must being doing something right, if Satan's stepchildren want to cut his head off.

And who said the Vatican 'backtracked'? (Other than the nit-wit writer: 'reporter' would be a misnomer here.) The statement issued in response to the row, while bland, contained no retraction.

If telling the truth is a blunder, yes, he's made a blunder.
Christianity is about truth, not spin. I don't recall Jesus having a media adviser...

More on this here at
Sticky Notes. A question being will it affect the Catholic vote come November? They were nearly divided in the last election.
The outrage is stupid.

As other have stated...no blunder on the Pope's part.
Just pure, clear, fearless honesty.
