CAIRO (Reuters) - Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood said a Vatican statement on Saturday saying Pope Benedict was sorry for upsetting Muslims with his comments on Islam did not go far enough.
"We want a personal apology (from the Pope). We feel that he has committed a grave error against us and that this mistake will only be removed through a personal apology," Muslim Brotherhood Deputy Leader Mohammed Habib told Reuters.
"Has he presented a personal apology for statements by which he clearly is convinced? No," he said.
In a speech on Tuesday the Pope repeated criticism of the Prophet Mohammad by the 14th century Byzantine Emperor Manuel II Palaeologus, who said everything the Prophet brought was evil "such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached."
The remarks sparked outrage across the Islamic world.
"The Holy Father is very sorry that some passages of his speech may have sounded offensive to the sensibilities of Muslim believers," Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone said in the statement.
The Muslim Brotherhood is a political Islamist group founded in Egypt which has inspired movements across the Arab world.

The pope won't of course, but what he should tell the muslim terrorists is that he will apologize for his comment when they apologize for worldwide terror they have committed and continue today to commit upon innocent souls...and then they vow to never terrorize again.

Again, NO!. Damn journalists can't resist warping the story via sloppy paraphrasing. There is a big difference from "repeating" a quote, and "citing a passage in literature" in the middle of an academic lecture at university. GRRRRR

The Pope's remarks have been DELIBERATELY taken out of context!He had NOTHING to apologize for and it's high time that the so-called"moderate"members of Islam stand up and denounce their radical factions that advocate VIOLENCE in the name of Islam!!!!!!

CNN's website is shoutintg that he regrets the statement but issues no apology. Fox says that he regretful over the outrage and MSNBC states that he offers "sincere regrets" but comes short of apologizing.
Hopefully, he will NOT apologize for a statements which is pure fact.
