The Corriere della Sera reported that local terror experts said they are paying close attention to threats made by an Iraqi armed group regarding its intentions to attack Rome and the Vatican in response to Pope Benedict’s remarks on Islam.

An attack on the Vatican would be a serious mistake on the part of the islamderthals. Even in secular europe it holds a great deal of significance.

In today's enviroment, it was the Pope's responsibility to begin a dialogue with Islam.....

Unfortunately, no matter what he states the radical element will claim foul....

These animals have been waiting on the sidelines waiting for this moment to exploit.....

It's part of their plan to escalate this into a fully religious war....

Accordingly, a real attack on the Vatican is imminent.

Muslims across the globe have been outraged and a hardline cleric linked to Somalia's powerful Islamist movement has called for Muslims to "hunt down" and kill the Pope, while an armed Iraqi group has threatened to carry out attacks against Rome and the Vatican.

That would be a very unwise thing to do.

An attack on the vatican would rile American Catholics even if some may disagree with the Pope. It has done nothing to harm anyone for a very long time.
