For a politician, is there such a thing as too much popularity?
If there's any cloud over U.S. Sen. Barack Obama's seemingly charmed political life, it may be that one.
With national political pundits now using words such as "messiah" in connection with the Chicago Democrat - and one former campaign opponent calling on him to run for president - some say he could ultimately be rising so fast and high in the American consciousness that he may end up with nowhere to go but down.

Someone really wants to put this genie back in the bottle.
You owe me a new keyboard sir. I just puked all over mine.
Obama gives empty suits a bad name.
Let him run for President of Nigeria ...
Mr. Kennedy, what's the name of that young Senator again?
he has already peaked with me , and is on his way down.
Just what we need - an Islamic senator.
The second Barack has to REALLY propound on the issues he will make people laugh at him mercilessly.
The man is nothing but abstract talking points. He has not CLUE about the issues, nor a REAL opinion on them.
"Empty suit" doesn't BEGIN to explain how facile and empty he really is.
The media's Obasms are all fake.
I don't like him. There's something about his manner. So smooth it makes me think of snake oil.
Just an impression.
What is this garbage? We have a guy who smiles and delivers a speech well and all of a sudden he's going to bring world peace and cure warts. A speech and a grin does not make a man president. Just ask Mario Cuomo.
Uh....remember Bill Clinton?
I think his popularity is manufactured. Most people don't even know who he is.
Bingo. He gives me the same feeling I had when I saw my first Bill Clinton photo.
Clinton didn't even need speeches. It didn't matter what He said, some people just thought He was Messiah.
The media is so predictable, watching his speech at the convention, you knew the media would anoint him the new Savior of America.
It is like when you read the description of a movie, and before it is released, you know it will be nominated for an Oscar, because of it's political or social message.
"And I'm too sexy for my sheets, too sexy for my sheets..."
What little I've heard of him speaking suggests to me that he's fairly intelligent. It also suggests that he doesn't have any genuine core values.
But then, that's no surprise, given the "D" usually seen after his name.
Barack is a socialist. There, I said it..
He is smart and lacks a core. He will out flip flop Kerry in a lot less time. He also lacks a sugar momma if you don't count the media. He has offered no core... and when he does he is going to crumble like a sand castle in a sand storm.
He did until Antonio Villareconquista, the MECHista from LA.
My wifes Grandparents 60 years ago called the Post Dispatch a yellow journal. Hasn't changed.
His sole claim to fame is his sperm donor. No, I don't mean his father, because he ducked out when little Obama was two years old. I mean his sperm donor. His mama gets no credit because she's the wrong color and wrong religion.
Ain't that the truth. Even my boss, a big Dem, doesn't understand his popularity. He even used the phrase "empty suit".
Is he Muslim?
Has Obama promised free health care? If so, I'm holding out for free dental, $25.00 an hour minimum wage and two months vacation. This guy is a big nobody. A reprehensible political hack posing as a consensus candidate. A socialist is a socialist is a socialist.
The latest Great Liberal Hope. The last one was John Edwards. We know how that worked out.
Right now, the press has been treating him with kid gloves. He won't be able to run a campaign like that.
To all: I just heard this one. Bill Clinton was vacationing at Camp David and realized that he had forgotten his casual shoes. He immediately called the White House staff and asked them to send over a pair of loafers. Twenty minutes later Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson showed up.
If he's a democrat he's a communist and he knows it.
With national political pundits now using words such as "messiah"...
Coulter is right. They are "Godless".
Who's Barack Obama?
Also, Bill misunderstood Descartes's maxim "cogito ergo sum." He thought the philosophy instructor said "Copulo ergo sum" and acted accordingly.
"Obama is especially proud of being a husband and father of two daughters, Malia, 8 and Sasha, 4. Obama and his wife, Michelle, married in 1992 and live on Chicago s South Side where they attend Trinity United Church of Christ."
If this guy runs for national office, I see the math this way:
30% won't vote for him because he's a Democrat.
20% won't vote for him because they think he's a terrorist.
10% won't vote for him because he's black.
10% won't for him because he's not as far left as some other guy.
So, at best, he can get 30% of the vote. And if the remaining independent voters find out what he believes, he'll be lucky to get 15% of the vote.
Yeah, his support is totally manufactured.
He was the president of the Harvard Law Review--no minor feat--and I would be careful not to underestimate him. He's clearly very intelligent, and could probably understand anything important to getting elected very well.
Thank you for confirming Barack's Christian affiliation.
That was my very first thought when I read this article.
I have to agree. He is very well spoken and should not be misunderestimated.
The antichrist, perhaps?
You may have SAID it, but we in Illinois FEEL it!
But when ones choices are Durbin and Obama it hardly matters.
It's kind of like trying to decide of being infected with gardia is worse than being infected with salmonella.
In either case one is left with the same result.
At least we know how they vote...
One of these days I'm going to run into the moron who thought running Keyes would be a good idea and I'm going to smack him or her upside the head.
Just when I thought the IL GOP couldn't do anything more stupid than nominating Ryan they went and did that Keyes thing.
Idiots....mouth breathing brain dead numb nuts idiots.
You don't have to look very far to find at least one of them.
