Barack Obama: Could he be too popular?

For a politician, is there such a thing as too much popularity?
If there's any cloud over U.S. Sen. Barack Obama's seemingly charmed political life, it may be that one.
With national political pundits now using words such as "messiah" in connection with the Chicago Democrat - and one former campaign opponent calling on him to run for president - some say he could ultimately be rising so fast and high in the American consciousness that he may end up with nowhere to go but down.

Poor, poor Barack. A "messiah"?
Someone really wants to put this genie back in the bottle.

The second Barack has to REALLY propound on the issues he will make people laugh at him mercilessly.
The man is nothing but abstract talking points. He has not CLUE about the issues, nor a REAL opinion on them.
"Empty suit" doesn't BEGIN to explain how facile and empty he really is.

What is this garbage? We have a guy who smiles and delivers a speech well and all of a sudden he's going to bring world peace and cure warts. A speech and a grin does not make a man president. Just ask Mario Cuomo.

The media is so predictable, watching his speech at the convention, you knew the media would anoint him the new Savior of America.
It is like when you read the description of a movie, and before it is released, you know it will be nominated for an Oscar, because of it's political or social message.

He is a 'prettyboy' tall and elegant but is he smart enough to do anything? I don't think I have heard him speak. What little I've heard of him speaking suggests to me that he's fairly intelligent. It also suggests that he doesn't have any genuine core values.
But then, that's no surprise, given the "D" usually seen after his name.

To all: I just heard this one. Bill Clinton was vacationing at Camp David and realized that he had forgotten his casual shoes. He immediately called the White House staff and asked them to send over a pair of loafers. Twenty minutes later Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson showed up.

I think his popularity is manufactured. Most people don't even know who he is. If this guy runs for national office, I see the math this way:
30% won't vote for him because he's a Democrat.
20% won't vote for him because they think he's a terrorist.
10% won't vote for him because he's black.
10% won't for him because he's not as far left as some other guy.
So, at best, he can get 30% of the vote. And if the remaining independent voters find out what he believes, he'll be lucky to get 15% of the vote.
Yeah, his support is totally manufactured.

It's really hard to figure out which of our Senators is the worst.
But when ones choices are Durbin and Obama it hardly matters.
It's kind of like trying to decide of being infected with gardia is worse than being infected with salmonella.
In either case one is left with the same result.

Obama got trashed by Keyes in the senatorial debates. He's not very smart and, in spite (or because) of teaching Constitutional law at the U of Chicago, he knows little about the Constitution. A friend of mine interviewed Obama on his radio show and agrees that he is an empty suit.

Obama got trashed by Keyes in the senatorial debates. One of these days I'm going to run into the moron who thought running Keyes would be a good idea and I'm going to smack him or her upside the head.
Just when I thought the IL GOP couldn't do anything more stupid than nominating Ryan they went and did that Keyes thing.
