Muslim leaders want full explanation from Pope

A spokesman for the Australian Muslim community says Pope Benedict XVI should give a full explanation for his comments about Islam.
The pontiff has sparked widespread outrage after last week quoting a 14th century Byzantine emperor who said innovations introduced by the Prophet Mohammed were "evil and inhuman".
He has since apologised.
The head of the Federal Government's Islamic advisory committee, Dr Ameer Ali, says there is disappointment that Pope Benedict has linked Islam to violence.
"We expect the Pope to follow the footsteps of his predecessor, who had been a great builder among communities for so many years, and not a pope of the crusades like Pope Urban II," he said.
"So I would ask him to follow the footsteps of Pope John Paul II."
Pope Benedict XVI says he does not share the views of an emperor he quoted in the speech.
He says he is "deeply sorry" for the anger he caused.
He voiced his regret during the traditional Angelus blessing from the papal summer residence at Castel Gandolfo, his first public appearance since the speech.
"I am deeply sorry for the reactions in some countries to a few passages of my address... which were considered offensive to the sensibility of Muslims," he said.

Perhaps when the moozies explain why Islam condones, beheading, suicide bombing, mass murder and acts of general terrorism, they might then be in a position to demand explanations from others!!!

The Pope doesn't need to explain himself to a rogue "clergy" that condones violence.
Hang in there, Benedict.

The head of the Federal Government's Islamic advisory committee, Dr Ameer Ali, says there is disappointment that Pope Benedict has linked Islam to violence. Did Dr Ameer Ali kinda miss out on the events of the last ten years or something? I mean Muslims have been doing a fine job "linking Islam to violence" all over the world. Are they all incapable of any introspection or self-criticism or even basic understanding?

I believe muslims linked islam to violence, and do so repeatedly every day.
When will the world have had enough?
When will the powers that be stop pandering to those who intimidate through violence?

A religion that demands much of others but little of itself. And the Pope's apology for the reactions witnessed in the Islam World convey to Muslims the Pope expects little of them either. "Full explanation?" They are the last people on earth to deserve a statement on Catholic theology.

Advice to the pope: I would tell them to stop torturing, imprisoning, and killing Christians. Then tell them to allow the same freedom of religion in all their countries just as Christians do. Then tell them to allow Christians to preach to Muslims and allow Muslims to have the freedom to convert. Then tell them to give back the land and churches taken from Christians. Ask them why they are so afraid of other religions. Ask them if they fear their 'religion' is so weak that it requires coercion to make people join and the same to keep them from leaving. Ask them to explain why they are teaching hate terror in their mosques. Ask them to explain who Jesus was and whether they think he is a true prophet. If they say he isn't, tell them they have insulted you and your religion and demand an apology. If they say he is, ask how God could have sent two prophets with such different messages.
That should keep them busy for a little while.

WWJD?
Did Jesus apologize for offending the Pharisees by calling them "hypocrites", "blind fools", "serpents", and a "brood of vipers" who are filled inside with "every kind of filth" and "evildoing"?
When he was hauled before the Jewish leaders whom he raged against, did he say he was sorry for offending them?
When he was turned over to the mobs screaming for his crucifixion, did he make a public "clarification" of what he had said about their religious leaders to quell their anger and try to initiate a "sincere dialogue" with them?
Then neither should the Pope about the Muslims.
But.... although I KNEW the Pope would back down and surrender to the terrorists - it still wrenches my gut to see it happen.

Muslim leaders want full explanation from PopeThey just need a literacy program... or perhaps edit the Pope's full explanation, turn it against Islam violently, portray Christianity as a bully religion and finally will end up as Bush's fault! Same pattern the Liberals are using.

The head of the Federal Government's Islamic advisory committee, Dr Ameer Ali, says there is disappointment that Pope Benedict has linked Islam to violence.
A teenage boy shot and killed the Italian Roman Catholic priest of a church in the Black Sea port city of Trabzon on Sunday, shouting "God is great" as he escaped, according to police and witnesses.
Officers were searching for the boy aged around 14 or 15, according to a police official who declined to be identified because of rules that bar Turkish civil servants from speaking to journalists without prior authorization.
The police official would not say if the attack might be linked to the printing in European newspapers of caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad, which has caused anger in Muslim countries. Earlier Sunday, hundreds of Turks protested in Istanbul against the cartoons.
"Whether the killing is linked to the caricatures will emerge when the culprit has been caught," Trabzon's Gov. Huseyin Yavuzdemir said. The priest, 60-year-old Andrea Santoro, was shot hours after Mass at Santa Maria Church.
A woman who answered the telephone at the church said the priest was inside when he was attacked, and prosecutor Burhan Cobanoglu said he was shot twice from behind, with bullets ripping through his heart and liver.
Pope Benedict XVI's envoy in Turkey, Monsignor Antonio Lucibello, said he had spoken by telephone with a witness who said she saw the attacker fleeing and "heard the young man shout 'Allah Akbar' (God is Great).'"

On March 5, 1571 Pope St. Pius V, in the Apostolic Constitution 'Salvatoris Domini' referred to the Moslems as "enemies of the Catholic faith."
Wonder how Islam would react to that if it was brought up again.
