BEAUMONT, TEXAS Beaumont Police officers responded to the 6000 block of Major Dr. Sept. 15 at approximately 8:37 p.m. on reports of a home invasion. Once officers arrived at the scene, the alleged perpetrators had already been apprehended
by the victim.
According to the victim, he was in his residence when he heard a knock at the door. When the door was opened, two Hispanic men allegedly forced their way into the home, brandishing knives.
The victim stated that, at that time, the two suspects demanded money. The victim went to the bedroom, followed by one of the suspects, and retrieved some money from the bedside table. The suspect did not notice the handgun belonging to the victim that was also in the bedside table, but the victim did. The suspect then, according to the victim, turned to rummage through the closet, presumably searching for more money.
The victim stated that he ordered the suspect to drop his knife. The second suspect entered the bedroom but would not drop his weapon. The victim fired three shots at the second suspect, wounding him in the left arm, the left leg and the left side. During the commotion, the first suspect retrieved his knife. The victim fired one round at the first suspect, wounding him in the left side of his chest.
Responding officers called EMS to transport the suspects to Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital. The suspect who received injuries to the chest received emergency treatment for his injuries but died a short time after arriving at the hospital. The status of the second suspect is unverified.

Amazingly, this same reporter in the exact same publication reported on a very similar armed citizen story less than a week ago! I saw the story's author and thought I was about to post a repeat because I was sure I recognized the name just recently. Don't Mess with Beaumont!

Not only that, but even mentioned that the suspects (now victims) were/are Hispanic.
I thought newspapers were only supposed to mention ethnicity when the perps are white!

Yeah! The 'victim' looks at his nightstand and goes "whoa! A HANDGUN!" And then a light bulb goes off over his head.

Better check with Rebekah to find out if these guys were criminally trespassing. They might have been transient Hispanic banana cutters that always carry knives with them. How on earth were they to know that the victim did not invite them into the house? Shooting people in Texas requires a very strong evidentiary hearing for some. I say this guy needs to re-evaluate his caliber or ammunition choice. More range time might be in order, as well.

Sounds like this homeowner needs to have his sights aligned, spend more time on the course or get a new prescription for contact lenses or glasses. Good results though.

The suspect who received injuries to the chest received emergency treatment for his injuries but died a short time after arriving at the hospital That dripping sound you hear is my lil ole heart bleeding for that poor wittle misunderstood and misguided home invader who was probably in the US illegally to begin with.
Too bad the homeowner's first 3 shots at the first perp weren't placed as well as the 4th was on the second perp. That would have saved some future victim a lot of grief on down the line after he's released from prison, and saved the state a lot of money keeping him alive and incarcerated. Oh well maybe his next intended victim will be a better shot, or at least a luckier shot.

This guy needs more time at the range. 4 bullets and no dead perps? I thought everyone in Texas new how to shoot? The second perp was mortally wounded and died. The first perp is probably going to die to get some nasty blood infections if he self-treated the gunshot wounds. What else did ya want? :)
Of course two head shots would have made the perfect newpaper story.
