(Bridgeport-AP, Sept. 18, 2006 2:37 PM) _ U.S. Senate candidate Ned Lamont says the federal government should subsidize health care costs for low-income people and help small companies buy into insurance pools to reduce their costs.
While the Senate campaign has so far focused on the Iraq war, Lamont toured a Bridgeport health clinic where more than 30-percent of patients don't have insurance. Lamont says Bridgeport is on the front lines of a national health care crisis.
Lamont defeated Senator Joe Lieberman in last month's Democratic primary by criticizing Lieberman's support of the Iraq war and saying the senator was too close to President Bush.
Polls show Lieberman leading Lamont among likely voters, with Republican Alan Schlesinger far behind.
Lamont's campaign is criticizing Lieberman, saying he did nothing to improve health care and of shutting down congressional debate over health care in the mid-1990s.
Lieberman spent Monday campaigning in eastern Connecticut, visiting a Norwich fire station and a Plainfield senior citizens center
Ned Lamont is a deep thinker, with many interesting things to say about public policy.
LOL --- whatever.
Guess the Muslim reaction to the Pope has heightened awareness of the need to combat the cretins.
That was my first thought as well.
Tax and Run
The bourgeois liberal must be crazy to advocate for single payer coverage or, alternatively, insurance for all through private vendors.
Once done, they face rationing, increased costs through taxes or premiums and governmental intervention in lifestyle matters. There is no way to get more health care without more money. Claims to the contrary have never worked.
It is NOT about health care....health care for democrats is code-speak for MORE GOVERNMENT WORKERS. They believe, rightly so, that if you can nationalize health care, you create a democrat voter, since that worker will fear republicans "cutting" federal government and thus their jobs.
Well, yes... Except that President Bush's plan is eeeeeeeevil!!!
A "progressive" populist like Lamont surely wants justice and equality for all.In the interests of this equality he'll certainly propose that any resident of Connecticut can move to his home town,Greenwich, and live in a rent controlled,"affordable" house or apartment.
Peacenik extremism isn't working too well for him huh?
Lamont had a meeting with Hillary. Another bootlicker is born. Expect a Shummery approach to everything.
They may not have insurance, but they are getting health care.
"We" DO subsidize healthcare for the poor in this nation.
Please, no facts. They're dealing with feeeeelings here.
is that said in the voice of Hedley Lamarr?
It figures Mr. Lamont wants more health care paid for by the government. He needs a check-up from the neck-up.
What a guy!
If you took Lamonts cognative abilities and converted them into electrical energy, you wouldn't have enough power to toast bread.
Enjoy your 35% on Election day bufoon.
Why, it sounds like you don't like ol' Ned. Imagine that!
What always amazes me about the so-called health care debate, is if their plans are sustainable they could immediately enact them at their state level and demonstrate to the other 49 states how easy and well it could be done. Conn is not a poor state. They could easily pay for state wide health insurance. One wonders why they don't??
More like since 1964, when Medicare was created.
Remember the pols saying "It will keep the price of medical care low and not cost more than a couple of billion or so?"
No. no. You see, everyone must pay. Everyone must suffer financially.
Besides, what you suggest makes sense. Can't have that.
Lamont is a typical trust fund liberal, like Chappaquiddick Kennedy and Hanoi Kerry. The DemoRats who have never worked in private industry, and never had to work, think they know what's best. Invariably, they think more government (socialism) is the solution to every "problem". They don't even acknowledge that their own wealth is the product of successful (capitalist) businesses conducted by someone else: their ancestors (or wife's ex-husband in Kerry's case).
lament cranston punking out.
