Ping, if you haven't already seen this.
I should be getting "First Things" in the mail any time now, I suppose. Seems like it comes even less often than expected.
"The life of every human being is sacred, both for Christians and for Muslims."
Can someone point out to me the passages in the koran that say this. I've looked, but I can't find anything but verses encouraging the murder, enslavement, or forced conversion of non-muslims.
And some muslims might agree with the statement above, but only because they don't consider apes & pigs to be human beings.
"The Church looks upon Muslims with respect. They worship the one God ....".
This is utter nonsense. The Judeo-Christian God & allah couldn't be anymore different. To equate the 2 is to lend truth to the koran & the pedophile, mohammed. The koran denies the Trinity. Shall we now deny the Trinity because the koran says so?
I'd like to know if the Pope believes mohammed was a true prophet of God, or not. If he does, then he is a muslim, not a Christian. If he doesn't, then mohammed is a FALSE prophet, & should be reviled as a spokesman of satan.
Pope Benedict's recent quoting of the Byzantine Manuel is encouraging to me. It seems to indicate he knows the evil & violent mohammed could not be a prophet. But, quotes of ancient rulers are weak medicine.

You might want to do a bit more study.
SANCTITY OF HUMAN LIFE
take not life, which God hath made sacred, except by way of justice and law: thus doth He command you, that ye may learn wisdom.
[Al-Quran 6:151]
if any one slew a person - unless it be for murder or for spreading mischief in the land - it would be as if he slew the whole people: and if any one saved a life, it would be as if he saved the life of the whole people.
[Al-Quran 5:32]
Excellent. Thanks for the ping. I hope many Muslims will listen to him and respond positively. But I doubt that many will, because he laid it on the line, without equivocation:
"Contrary to many reports, he [the Pope] has not apologized or retracted his argument. He has indicated sincere regret that many Muslims have reacted to his statement as they have. The response of those who are properly called jihadists is, If you dont stop saying were violent, were going to bomb more churches, kill more nuns and priests, and get the pope too. In short, the reaction has powerfully confirmed the problem to which Benedict called our attention."
FINALLY someone of stature says what Freepers have been stating since this all broke loose.
The responses to the Pope's words proved him to be absolutely correct. I am very much afraid that we are going to need another Crusade to turn back the malignant abomination that is Islam.
*That is a true statement. Of course the Mulsim's understanding of God is deficient. However, they do worship one God.
..."take not life, which God hath made sacred, except by way of justice and law"
Ah, there's the rub...the Muslim's Sharia laws can mandate anyone for death, including their innocent daughters who were raped. It gives these violent freaks the freedom to kill whomever they perceive as violating their sick system of laws.
Please notify me via FReepmail if you would like to be added to or taken off the Catholic Discussion Ping List.
The current issue is mostly concerned with the pro-life movement, though there is also a superb essay by Joseph Bottum on Catholic culture in America.
Nothing on jihad yet, however.
Right. Islam is the religion of peace. That's why they assassinate defenseless nuns.
Maybe I forgot to send in my renewal.
I only just got mine yesterday, but do go ahead and renew anyway, eh? :)
Where is the "Dear Muslims, you are going to go to hell unless you embrace Christ" part?
Awesome article. Thanks for the ping.
You're welcome!
Now let's see if the NYT can twist this one.
