Dallas'problems begin with the City Council. They are unable to focus on anything productive(i.e. reducing crime) because they're too occupied with divisive political maneuvering, which are typically race-based.

San Jose is one of the 10 largest cities in the US?

And to complete your sentence: "...such as banning smoking in bars."

There aren't that many Katrina people in Dallas. We have 150,000 still in Houston.

Hey Detroit bashers - we didn't even make the top 10! I do notice how 7 of the 10 are Southern or Sun Belt cities.

Must be the heat that makes you all so violent.

Yeah, I think that it's #10, with a population of just under one million.

No one in Detroit can count.

Southern cities happen to be closer to our fenceless border.

According to the 2005 Census Estimates, yes - San Jose is the tenth largest city in the U.S. (City, not metro area).

Sorry, Detroit. You're now #11 (and rapidly losing population).

My brain hurts.

Is Dallas the 10th-safest big city, as the list would seem to suggest?

If so, how did it get "most dangerous big city" from being #10-ranked?

I imagine Laura Miller and the Liberal Dallas City Council has passed Gun Restrictions for law abiding citizens.

That idiot woman cannot do so considering there are special provisions in the state laws that prevent cities from doing just that. She drove enough businesses out of the city consdering she pushed non-smoking restaraunts across Dallas.

It's actually in reverse. Safest to least safest. You have to read while standing on your head.

It is just that crime REPORTING is better in Dallas - the citizens there have not yet totally given up on their local goverment, unlike in those other cities......!

No. It's the least safe of the country's 10 largest cities. Detroit is no longer included, since it's the 11th largest.

Laura Miller, worst mayor ever. She makes me long for Ron Kirk.

I was about to say come down here to New Orleans if you want to see some real crime. We are outpacing Houston for murders, and New Orleans is now only 1/10th the size of Houston.

I did get a chuckle out of a news story out of Houston where the New Orleans folks were referred to as 'Katricians'! LMAO!

"the large city with the highest crime rate was Dallas, according to FBI statistics."

Yes but the most important thing is there is no smoking in the bars and restraunts.

LOL!!! Gator, you hit the nail on the head! Forget the crime rate, what about the potholes?
