It means the same thing any intelligent Republican saw after Jean Schmidt's horrible performance in the 2005 Special - Schmidt is a terrible candidate who could actually lose this district.

There are only 2 Republicans in this district who could lose it - Pat DeWine and Jean Schmidt. And sure enough, we're stuck with 1 of them. This district routinely gave Rob Portman 75% of the vote, and gave George Bush a very important 64%. No Democrat should ever come close.

But Paul Hackett, in spite of being mentally unbalanced, took over 48% of the vote in nearly defeating Mean Jean in August 2005. That should have sent a clear message to Republicans that we needed to run another candidate. But no, we nominate Schmidt for a 2nd time, and here we are again wondering whether we'll hold this Safe R seat.

If Hackett were running he would win. But because Wulsin is an East Coast liberal type, she'll probably fall a little short. Either way I hope this is the last time we're stuck with Mean Jean running as the Republican.
