Democrats Tonight (Song Parody)

Democrats Tonight
Comedy Tonight words and music by Steven Sondheim
Parody and Copyright by LonePalm

Some are familiar, most are peculiar
Promising everything: Democrats tonight
Nothing appealing, They’re all appalling
Promising everything: Democrats tonight

Bill Clinton’s flings, Tom Daschle’s frowns
Bring on the unions, perverts, and clowns
No new solution, verbal pollution
No one portentous or polite
Sanity tomorrow, Democrats tonight

Some are convulsive, And quite repulsive
Promising everything: Democrats tonight
Some are aesthetic, most are frenetic
Promising everything: Democrats tonight

Bush is no good, show him the gate
The war on terror will have to wait
Nothing that's formal, nothing that's normal
Just race relations to incite
Looks like its curtains for, Democrats tonight

Some are familiar, They’re quite peculiar
Promising everything: Democrats tonight
Some of them gaudy, Most of them bawdy
Something for everybawdy: Democrats tonight

They’re really dim, nothing but Freaks
They’ll change their minds later this week
Stunning surprises, cunning disguises
Not one can ever get it right.

Like warm beer from Munich, political eunuchs
Funerals are classless, monotones and crassness
Panderers, philanderers, cupidity, timidity*
Mistakes, fakes, rhymes, crimes*
Tumblers, grumblers, bumblers, fumblers*

No loyal curs, media whores
But a happy ending, of course*
Godless and badness, manifest madness
This time voters all turn right
Sanity tomorrow, Democrats tonight

Thanx. I think the original song was from "A Funny Thing Happened On the Way to the Forum."

That's really really good! (BTW, I saw "Forum" for the first time a couple months ago--funny flick!)

It is. I just picked up the DVD this past week. That's what gave me the idea.

Thanks.

Actually, it almost wrote itself. I think it took just over an hour, total time, including html formatting.

I forgot to note that the lines with an asterisk (*) are original lines that were too good to change.

** ... original song was from “A Funny Thing Happened On the Way to the Forum.”**

and my choice for funniest line from the same show, and NOBAMA should use it..

“Stand Aside, Everyone ... I take LARGE STEPS.”

(**not to be confused with Large STANCE)
