The Future of Kosovo from a Serbian-American Perspective
Glas Javnosti ^ | Saturday, September 23, 2006 | By: Michael Pravica, Ph.D.

Posted on 09/23/2006 3:42:26 PM PDT by Bokababe

I first visited Kosovo in 1988 with a group of Serbian-American students who toured some of the many historic monasteries and churches of Serbia and Montenegro. Even then, it was obvious to me that there were ethnic tensions in the Serbian province as ancient Churches were desecrated with Albanian graffiti, a car with Belgrade license plates was overturned, and we had to always walk with a guard during our stay at the Patriarchate of Pec. For me, this visit was critical in solidifying my cultural awareness and pride as a Serbian-American.

In that spirit, I strongly encourage the government of Serbia not to allow the West to bully it into granting Kosovo independence. Though there have been many innuendos about Serbia's difficulty in joining the EC if Kosovo is not "let go," and talk of "lost incentives" for Serbia, we should be very wary of any "promises" coming from the West as they have always been reneged. Serbia has a long tradition of self-sufficiency and independence. Joining the EC will not be a panacea.

In Kosovo, Serbs and Albanians have coexisted there for over 1300 years and must relearn how to coexist in the future. Granting independence to this Serbian province would set a dangerous precedent that terrorists who slaughter, ethnically cleanse, and terrorize innocent civilians can successfully alter the borders of nations and would encourage terrorists the world over in conflict-ridden places such as Chechnya, Canada, Spain, Turkey, Iraq, China, etc. From a Serbian-American perspective, Kosovo is part of Serbia, a sovereign nation. Though the ethnic demographics have shifted so that Albanians are currently in the majority, this has been due chiefly to illegal immigration of Albanians (encouraged by Tito) into the province. Granting Kosovo independence would be a dangerous harbinger of what might happen to America due to massive illegal immigration across its' Southern border with Mexico as many of these immigrants wish to reclaim "Azatlan" for Mexico. Kosovo is now the "black hole" of Europe and is becoming a fifth-column and training ground for terrorists who will attack Western interests.

The West has no legal basis to steal Kosovo from Serbia. The UN (of which Yugoslavia was a founding member) has no business interfering in Serbia's internal/domestic affairs. NATO was established to counter the no longer existent Soviet threat and should be out of Kosovo. Countries such as Germany that participated in the Holocaust of Serbs during WWII and helped catalyze the destruction of the former Yugoslavia for their own national interests should never have been allowed to station their troops in Kosovo. Serbia must regain Kosovo so that she can restore law and order because the UN and NATO are not doing the job. Serbia must also reclaim the businesses that were illegally pilfered by "philanthropists" such as George Soros. The Serbian Orthodox Church was the largest landowner in Kosovo before Tito. Lands that were illegally confiscated from The Church must be returned to their rightful owner.

During the summer of 2005, I met with two members of Congress, Shelley Berkeley and Jon Porter (my Nevada representatives). They agreed that Kosovo should remain with Serbia. I believe the US government is beginning to realize that major errors were made regarding Kosovo - especially in the post-9/11 climate - and my feeling is that with enough activism and steadfast resistance from the Serbian government, there is a good chance that the independence effort will not succeed. The Serbian government should work to restore ties with the United States and partner with it in the war on terrorism. We Serbian-Americans stand ready to aid the Serbian government in liaising with our elected officials and offering advice if requested. We must all jointly overcome lack of Serbian unity, lack of communication between the diaspora and Serbia, and lack of vision for the future.

No nation gives away land for nothing. The West may illegally recognize Kosovo's independence but no self-respecting Serb should ever accept it. Defeat occurs only when one accepts fate instead of trying to change it.

"hard factual material."

This is never a horror but welcomed. Hard Factual material, must be triangulated or more. In other words, the material should have actual quotes, pictures, and/or unbiased studies, stats etc. The sources should be validated as to their origins....ICG for example cannot be trusted when it comes to the Balkans. Wesley Clark is on the staff...The ICG is just another Think tank for the Globalist. In other cases they do have good reports depending on the agenda......What they write needs to be checked with other sources before taking them at face value. Those who are PRO-Serb nationalist will support Milosevic.....now you have to step back from there also. Their opinion may be biased as well, by turning most if not all Pro-Serb rhetoric to anti-UN, America, Albanians etc..... There is a group of Albanians that are also victim to the Albanian Greater Albania (mostly LDK members or members of the former FARK). The Serbian Mafia (Black Hand)....is alive and well and works with the Albanian Mafia for obvious reasons. The could care less about other Serbs and the Serbs inside Kosovo. This is only scratching the surface.............

Albanians Concerned About Kosovo: Kosovo Committee Chair 24 September 2006 | 10:52 | FOCUS News Agency Belgrade. The chair of the Committee for Kosovo at the Serbian Parliament Dusan Prorokovic stated that the up-to-now conclusions of the Contact Group had been written in the language of diplomacy, Serbian newspaper Glas Javnosti reads today. According to Mr. Prorokovic the Contact Group is obliged to explain whether Kosovo is an example in itself or whether it could be used in the solving of similar global crises. Dusan Prorokovic said that there are various opinions within the Contact Group but added that the statements of the Albanian party show that the Albanians are concerned. However, not the Serbs but the world leaders are to be blamed for the Albanians’ concern as they had given them unrealistic promises, the Committee for Kosovo chair pointed out. http://www.focus-fen.net/index.php?id=n96427

I don't think that position pays enough frankly, so I doubt Hoplite is in that position.

Damn straight. Undersecretary this or Assistant that just aren't in the cards anymore, as Hoplite continues keep his plate clear for bigger things.

Thanks to Mr. Peabody for use of the WABAC machine.

I am not taking this self-righteous BS for an aswer.

You are in no position to demand anything, nor am I inclined to waste much more time on you and yours. Once Kosovo's status has been settled, you will no longer have the ability to camouflage your agenda behind what you misinterperet as American interests, and the culling of Serb nationalists from this site will proceed at whatever pace you and your friends set when you turn your impotent rage against America.

"You" have the balls to drop bombs on hospitals and bridges. That is as far as "your" courage extends.

Impotent rage against America - see?

"So by that logic, we should not team up with the saudis or pakis against al qaeda."

Saudis and Pakis create the problems, then "they team up with us help us solve it"? How convenient! Meanwhile, because we keep treating the Saudis like they are "our friends & partners in the War on Terror", we ignore the fact that Saudi mosques are going up all over Europe and the US faster than McDonalds, exacerbating the problem for us even further.

Yes, I know bin Laden is trying to bring down the corrupt House of Saud, but there are many in the Saudi government who are playing both ends against the middle -- financing al Qaeda and meanwhile, exploiting the "solidarity with America in the War on Terror".

Saudis are not helping us win the war on terror -- they are "the terror"! Al qaida isn't "their problem", it's their strategy! Because we need their oil, they have us over a barrel so we are pretending not to see it, but it's not hard to see if you look at it logically.

Of course. Hoplite and I do share the same "religion" mostly.

Yes, we've plenty of evidence that the two of you have raised your anti-Serb bigotry to the status of a religion.

"Impotent rage against America - see?"

No, Hoppie, "impotent rage against America" is the MO of the Muslims who you support. It's why you and they are hoping for "72 virgins in Heaven" -- "women who won't expect much" are all that the impotent can handle.

I am an American, born and bred -- an "American nationalist" (AKA patriot) and it is from through the eyes of American ethic I see this Balkan blunder, just as the author of the original article does.

You may be right, in that Serbia does on paper, lose Kosovo. Of course it would be a completely unethical and illegal action, but the forces that seem to be shaping events these days don't really seem to care about legality or ethics when it comes to the Balkans. They just want what they want and are willing to break all the rules-- even their own -- to get it.

But Serbs waited four hundred years the last time to reclaim their lands from Muslims and they can wait again again if they have to. It won't have been the first time Germany and it's Islamo-fascist partners hit them from both sides and it won't be the last. But the Serbs know better this time -- they won't naively embrace a "bratsvo jedinstvo" (one brotherhood) poltical mentality with their neighbors again, which left them vulnerable this last time.

As angry as Serbs may be at the American government right now(as often many non-Serbs here on the board are), an attack on America on our turf just isn't their style. They are the only member state of the former Yugoslavia to have had a history of parlimentary democracy and a historical rock-hard resolve against both fascism and Islamic aggression. Serbia's ideological enemies are America's ideological enemies -- they know that, even if America doesn't.

American patriotism isn't something you can cry up whenever it suits your agenda, Boka. It's either your agenda from the start or it's not.

Your agenda as far as the Balkans goes is dominated by Serbian nationalism from what I've seen, and it's going to bring you nothing but hair pulling disappointment as far as trying to reconcile it with the relevant portions of American foreign policy.

Ah schadenfreude. Such a guilty pleasure, and it couldn't be derived from a more deserving bunch of ethno-racist ignorami.

"schadenfreude"

Neo-nazi sadistic bliss -- bet they'll be lots of it in Hell, Hoppie.

No, Hoppie. I come from the "home of the free and the land of the brave". My frustration is that US actions in the Balkans couldn't be more cowardly and unethical -- and that cowardice does not represent who we are as an American people.

The day that you and your cold-blooded Nazi mentality represent "the real America", is the day that we should all start wearing black because America as we know it will be dead.

And all else has failed you Boka - have no illusions about that.

Thanks for the info.
IMHO, I believe the full body of the Serbian government, should without delay, strongly assert themselves in positively worded terms by:

* Issue arrest warrants for former President William Jefferson Clinton and Secretary of State Madeleine Korbel Albright, and anyone else connected with, for war crimes against the sovereign nation of Serbia.

* The full Serbian government issue a Cease & Desist Order to NATO, to immediately halt all so called peacekeeping operations, and within 15 days, withdraw all foreign forces from all (Kosovo) Serbian territories/soil.

* Likewise, on the issue of Bosnia, send the same Cease & Desist Order to the United Nations, to immediately remove all peacekeeping occupation forces from Serbian/Bosnian territories.

I know about Godwin's law, don't need the definition again Hoppie. But there is an exception to it -- and that is when one is truly dealing with "a real Nazi".

Based on your politics, your love of using sadistic German quotes, not hard to see that if it looks, walks and quacks like a duck, it's a duck. Or better yet, if it goose-steps like a Nazi...

The Old Testament lives in today's news

Oh Allah, have mercy on us. Oh Allah, forgive our sins. All the sincerity in the world is meaningless as long as it is aimed at a false impotent god. Islam wants the world to come exclusively to their god of the Koran to plead for forgiveness of sin. The Bible says this is blasphemy. The Bible says no greater insult can be hurled at the Creator God then to give His glory to a phony self promoting lie. The Arabs have long ago abandoned the God of the Bible. They rejected the Bible, and chose to follow the false prophet Mohamed. Now, they are suffering the fruits of this cultural decision. They nurtured a generation on hate thinking they would release them on the Jews and the world, but the wild animals only came back to bite them. The last 2 years have caused the pompous Saudi Shakes to cry and moan about the threat now looming over their despotism. They never expected the hate they so viciously nurtured against the Jews would turn on them. The message coming from the chief Mufti to the masses has taken an amazing change. Suddenly the heroic Islamic warriors have become the enemy lured by the devil.

The truth is that all of Islam has been lured by the devil into a showdown with the God of the Bible over the Holy Land. The devil knows what is at stake, and is willing to gamble away the kingdom he has established primarily among the Arabs. He knows he must act in this generation to stop what God is doing in the Holy Land because he is quickly losing his hold on preventing the return of the LORD Jesus Christ. Foolish men are but pawns in the hands of the devil as he uses political gain to manipulate them into his deadly trap.

The charge to the Jews of every Exodus is clear in dealing with the heathen who dwell in the land. God has said their heathenism is a snare that can only destroy. Covenants with such heathen is forbidden. The gentile Road Map is designed to force the Jews to reject this command of God, and play right into the hands of the devil. All this right under the nose of a White House noted for having Bible studies? What greater evidence could be presented showing the corruption of today's Christianity? What greater need for a rapture to separate the remnant from the snare of apostasy?

Just because you don't see or refuse to acknowledge the conflict doesn't mean it doesn't exist, Boka - your patriotism is dissociative, damaged, and absurd, much like your position in regards to American Balkan policy on the whole.
